Having grown tired of the local restaurant in our town we ventured to Wipfeld in search of something different. Catching a glimpse of this restaurants beer garden out back as we passed, I quickly turned the car to investigate. We were pleasantly surprised at what we found. For the American tourist who's not familiar with flammkuchen, it's akin to pizza with a much thinner crust. There are other similarities but you should experience that on your own. This is the perfect place for that exploration as there are dozens of different varieties of flammkuchen. The kids had mozarella, basil, tomato while the Mrs. and I enjoyed bacon and hot peppers. For dessert we all shared a sweet apple & cinnimon flammkuchen. Like all places in Germany there are many choices of drinks but if you are hungry for something besides flammkuchen you might want to try elsewhere. We ate in the beergarden despite the plummeting temperature and enjoyed the rustic feel. We will definately return. Cost for our family of 4 was 32 Euro and worth it.
