“Have a look around, think of what you are going for and do the excursions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2009

Laguna Park -

The bar is expensive in the day... 2 euro 40 for a pint, you can buy your own beer and bring it by the pool, not glass bottles though. There is also a food part by the pool... chips were 2 euro 50. There is a restaurant that does morning buffets, i was advised not to go to this for breakfast by local cafes/restaurants which were good! There is no evening restaurant at the resort. We ate in restaurants along the beach... vvv nice

Entertainment, run mainly by a guy called Edd... he is very good with entertainment for both adults and children, with mixed activities throughout the day! He allows the children to play kids only games, or adults and kids on occasions. The evening entertainment is also amazing with kareoke being a MUST and the Quiz and Bingo - Even by cheating i never won the bingo though

LOCATION: is a short walk to the beach and restaurants. Quite far to the main clubbing part of americas and i recommend ALWAYS getting a taxi to and from americas!
but to be honest... go to a hotel close to americas for a clubbing holiday

Safety -

Muggings DO occur, if clubbing down veronicas make sure you don't go down any side alleys, get a taxi back and avoid going along the beach front. At all costs! People have been assaulted and mugged. So if you have to walk back, make sure your in a large group as the locals target tourists!
Get a Taxi - 100%!

Restaurants -

Avoid Restaurants that are 3 courses for 7.50 euro with a free drink - the quality of the food is poor!
Chinese all you can eat buffets... these can generally be worthwhile and very satisfying!
The people who stand outside and tell you to come to their restaurant - My advice is to... state that you are "just looking" they will show you what they have to offer and keep it in mind, and say you will think about it, and then make up your mind on a place and don't avoid the restaurant because of them, because the restaurant can be nice.

Clubbing -

Tourists are generally very friendly as they are there to have fun and meet people so don't hesitate to communicate.
The pr's who stand outside and persuade u to go to their bar give cheap drink offers, usually 2 pints and 3 shots and a coctail for 2 people 5 euro each.- Depending on the time.
Don't pay for pub crawls! - not worth it, can get free ones with travel reps!

The LookyLooky Men or Women-

"For you, I give you special price".... or ..... "it's a gift, now you give me a gift, 20 euro"......................... JUST BLANK THEM!

Loro parque -

Its amazing, a great time! If you go ensure you do the discovery tour! It is well worth 9 euro! Ensure you plan the day so you see all the shows also!

Siam Park -

I didn't go myself but everyone who went gave the most optimistic outlook on the place and were thrilled that they went, so this is also a MUST!

Excursions are cheaper when booked with local excursion shops. Not travel agents

We booked this last minute and did as others suggested...take a chance. Well, the best things I can say about Laguna Park 1 is that there were always plenty of sun lounges at the pool, the hotel is in a good location (5 minute walk to beach area all down hill...but hell coming back up) and the front desk employees were always pleasant. Bad points: We were not given clean towels (texture of sandpaper) at least 3 days out of the 7 nights we were there. We opted for self-catering but, some utensils were limited (only one sharp knife - serrated) and I felt the very least they could provide is a miniature bottle of dishwashing liquid. It was very LOUD as our apartment faced the main road across from a strip club and a few bars...which do not close until 3:00am. I slept with headphones on. They highly recommend renting the "safe"...which I think if they put the safe in a room, you shouldn't have to pay for it!!! That cost 15 Euro for the week with 5 of that refunded when the key is returned. All other appliances (fan, tv, iron, toaster) also had to be rented. The on-site restaurant was only open for breakfast. The water boiler for our apartment was so small that it would barely last for one shower and everyone had to wait at least 30 minutes in between showers if they wanted a luke warm shower. There is no internet in the rooms but for 1 euro for 15 minutes there are 4 computers in the lobby area.

You definitely get what you pay for. If you're only going to Tenerife to party and only need a place to sleep or are so broke you can only sit by a pool all day, I highly recommend this place. If you want luxury, peace & quiet and comfort...go somewhere else.

My familly would consider staying here again simply for the close proximity of the beach areas, the fairly large supermarket a short walk away and the budget price.

Just back from a 2 week stay at laguna park 1 it was brilliant, apartments were very clean cleaned daily and towels changed daily, reception staff were great, the entertainer was great i have a son under two and he played with him alot. Overall the accommodation was brilliant. The only downside to this accommodation is you have to rent a safe at about 50 euros a fortnight an electric kettle and toaster is 10 euros per week , you.ve also got to rent the television. In our apartment we had a whistling kettle and a grill so we didnt need to higher the kettle or toaster. I would say to everyone to rent a safe once you arrive there as you can never depend on the accommodation not being broke into. Dont let this put u off as the fortnight that we stayed there wasnt any break ins at all. Its a great place to stay Laguna Park 1 is great especially if u have young children, beach is a five minute walk an there is every kind of resturant around. We ate in quiet a few but i would have to say try the hong kong chinese down past the shopping centre as it 6.50 euros for a each as much as u like buffet. I would also recommend the temple bar/irish fiddler we ate in this on st.Patricks day and it was like eating back home. I would definitely come back to this accommodation as it is ideal for my son. If reading through the reviews dont take them on go and see this accommodation for yourself and see wat you think. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone as it is value for money and a great place to visit.

After reading a few of the reviews in here we were a bit concerned as it was a bit hit and miss looking. We found the reception staff really friendly and very helpful. The apartments we had were clean and tidy. There were 6 of us altogether and we all had our own apartments (3 couples).

The only thing I found disappointing was the food. We went to have a cooked breakfast and found that it was better to go to the local cafes. We also went to have a burger one lunch time and paid for it at the bar and sat down waiting for them to call us to find out that we should have taken our receipt to the chief just across from the bar who would then cook the food. Nobody bothered to tell us this and we ended up waiting nearly an hour for a burger.

The prices at the bar was reasonable. The pool area etc. were kept clean. I would go back there again, although most probably a bit later in the year as I found it a little chilly as it was cloudy on a lot of the days.

There are two waterparks one local and another one where there is a free bus. We didn't get to go to either but after speaking to several people we wish we had gone to the new park. They all said it was absolutely brill.

Shop around for beer as some of the places that do good meal deals charge 3.95 euros for a pint of beer where as others that don't do a meal deal only charge 2 euros a pint.

If you are not sure after reading some of the other reviews all I can say is take a chance and make your own mind up.

Dates of stay: 20th February - 27th February
Weather: Didnt rain once! Sunny everyday although two mornings were a little overcast. Average temperature at night was 17c/18c - Average temperature in the day was 23c.

My boyfriend (aged 23) and I (aged 18) travelled to Costa Adeje for our first holiday together and loved every minute of it!

We booked the holiday with Thomas Cook so I was a little aprehensive as to what to expect (we've heard bad reports about the company) however, the flights were on time both ways and the accommodation was lovely!

We didnt attend the welcome meeting and didnt see the rep at all during our stay (had no intentions too) so cant comment on them really.

Information on Accommodation:
We stayed in room 210A (one bedroomed apartment). The complex is split into two sides either side of the pool, one side is just 2 floors high (this is where we were, on the second floor) and the second side was upto 5 floors high.
We had lovely sea views from our living room balcony and a pool view from our bedroom window. Our balcony had little sunlight although we had a fantastic view of the sunset!

The rooms were very clean and the maid came 5-6 times during our stay where she topped up our toilet roll, changed our towels, took away any rubbish and also changed the sheets twice. (We had asked for a double bed but was given two singles so we pushed the beds together, when the maid came she made the beds with double sheets for us!)

We found the apartments very well equipt with a microwave, fridge/freezer, cooker, two ring hob and sink. There was enough cuttlery for 4 people and plenty of plates, mugs etc.

The items for rent are as follows (price per week - also require 5e deposit which you'll get back): Toaster 10e, Electric Kettle 10e, Iron 15e, Small fan 10e. We didnt rent any of these as we managed to cook toast on the grill in the cooker, tea on the whistling kettle which was provided (although this took approx 10mins to boil!), i took a travel iron, and the rooms felt cool enough in Feb. We rented a safe which was 20e + 5e deposit, and a TV which was 15e for 4-5 days.

There was sheets on our bed and 1 x large white pillow each plus four blankets and another 2 pillows in the wardrobe which was more than enough!

Also in the apartments was a good sized wardrobe, sofa, chair, breakfast bar, bath and shower and set of table and chairs outside. (lots of hot water!!!)
We didnt see any bugs during the whole of our stay although insect spray was available in the cuboard under the sink.

Information on the rest of the complex:
When arriving at Laguna Park 1 we thought the reception staff were very helpful. They were keen to tell you about different areas you were interested in visiting and would book taxis for you. They also told you where the nearest bus stop was etc. There was someone on reception everytime we passed.

The pool area was nice although the pool was very cold! (most of the pools in the Canary Islands are though) we found that alot of people tended to lay their towels out and reserved sunbeds as early as 9am!! Wasnt too much of a problem for us though as we usually spent our days exploring the resort.

We chose Self Catering and didnt eat at the pool bar so cant really comment on the food. They had a nightly events programme which usually started around 10:30 (with a quiz and music before) - we only saw the snake show and probably wouldnt recommend it.

There was a small arcade (emphasis on the small!!) under the pool area which had windows looking out so you could see people swimming.

Information on the location:
We thought the location was fab! Joined to the hotel was a small supermarket and internet cafe which had a selection of English food. Just outside was a small excursion hut which we used to book a couple of ours. If you get your price elsewhere, they will try and match or beat it for you.

Along the road just outside the apartments you will find small bars and restaurants including irish bars. When you arrive at Tenerife Airport, some of the staff members hand out maps (free of charge) - I highly recommend you take one of these to help you decide where to go. There are alot of circular walks along the roads and coast which we tended to do.

I changed my money whilst I was over there as the exchange rate was a few pence better, if you turn left out of the hotel there is a place called "Admiral Travel" which is where i used (its the second exchange place you come along - up some steps).

Also if you turn left, there is a large taxi rank or you could ask reception to ring one for you. The beach is approximately a 10 minute walk away and if you walk past that beach, there are a few more. The sand wasnt as dark as I was expecting a volcanic island's to be... It was quite light! The nearest beach has been designed in a way to limit the waves which makes it easier to swim in (if you can withstand the cold!). Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos are both a 5 minute taxi ride away which costs approx 7e.

I would describe Costa Adeje as an area most suitable for families and couples. I rarely saw groups of teenagers and there are more restaurants than pubs. We did venture into Playa de las Americas one night but didnt really enjoy it (it would be great for those that love loud clubs, plenty of bars and lots of drinking though!) the people that stand outside bars are bad in Costa Adeje, but if you go into Playa de las Americas you'll realise that they really arent that bad!!!

We visited Los Cristianos on our last night. We liked this area and wish we'd spent a little longer here. This area has a lot more shops than Costa Adeje and a few more upper class restaurants. One we would suggest you visit is a place called "Little Italy" the decor and service was FAB! We ate upstairs (non-smoking part) and had their local white fish which was caught in Los Cristianos harbour. The fish was lovely and good value for 9.45e.

There is a small pleasant path way near the Siam Park bus stop which takes you near to the beach. We found this a lovely walk as there was no access to vehicals, no wind and very sunny.

Places/things we'd recommend:
We went on two excursions (which we booked through the hut outside the apartments). The first was Siam Park (the waterpark) - this was around 27e each and was definately worth the money! There was something for everyone and they also had a man made beach with wave pool. I wouldnt go on the large slide again though - looks better than it is!!! Lockers are also provided, i took a large beach bag which fit easily into a small locker which cost 3e + 2e deposit but you could go back to it as many times as you wanted. A free bus was also included (bus stop not far from the apartments, turn right outside and just across the road)

The second excursion we went on was the jet ski safari. This was 100e for a single jet ski or 150e for a double jet ski (75e each) but we thought it was worth it (especially if there was a group of you as the guide takes photos and videos which you can purchase after) A mini bus picked us up outside the apartments and took us to Los Gigantes where we were given wetsuits and life jackets. My boyfriend and I took it in turns driving. The first point of call was a small fishing area where we spotted 3 dolphins then we went along the coast looking at caves and what used to be a pirates village.

If you're looking for a cheap place for breakfast, visit "Marios" which is left out of the hotel and probably 2 minutes down the road. An english breakfast (2 bacon, 2 eggs, sausage, beans, tomatoe, toast, butter/jam and orange juice) cost only 2.95e! You will probably hear this place before you get there as they have a little bird which sings along to the music!

If you're wanting to go to somewhere a little more special to eat i'd recommend "La Fortaleza Del Mar" which is by the nearest beach. Its in the style of a Medieval Castle. The guy outside there was lovely and not pushy at all! To get inside, you cross a small bridge above water with Carp swimming around (to give the impression of a moat) there are also fantastic sea views and the service is great. Reasonably priced too for the place (prices for main courses start from 9e - i think there is a light menu in the day which is cheaper but we went at night)

For Paella, visit Dulce & Salado (which is on the coastal path towards Playa de las Amercias) they have a great variety, do lovely Sangria and great staff aswell!! Paella starts from around 9e per person which is one of the cheapest around.

You might come across Harleys Bar which is in the style of Franky & Bennys/TGI Fridays and has vintage cars outside. Its a little overpriced but really good atmosphere with the bar men putting on shows when making cocktails. Main courses are around 12e and cocktails were around 5e.

There are lots of chinese restaurants over there too which offer an all you can eat buffett for 6.50e. We ate at one called Pekin Palace which was quite nice.

Again, on the sea front is a place called "Vista Al Mar". Great staff again and they did great fish dishes! Very large protions for the money!

If you go over to bring back cheap cigarettes then the place to go for these is called "Paradise" in Los Cristianos. Its on the sea front not far from Burger King. To give you an idea of prices... a box of 200 Richmond Superkings were 13.50e!!! Less than £1 a pack!

I would definately go back to Tenerife again, I thought it was the best Canary Island after visiting Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria. It was suprisingly green too considering the volcanic stereotype they all have.

Please contact me for more information and pictures.

Rooms: The rooms have a twin bedroom and two sofa beds in the living room. tv is provided but you have to pay for a card to use it - €35 for 2 weeks. The safe is £70 for 2 weeks - it is cheaper to claim on your insurance if anything was to go missing!! The kitchen has fridge, cooker, hob, but you have to hire the kettle & toaster. They are cheaper to buy at next doors supermarket!! Bathroom has loo, batch & shower - but only enough water for 3 quick showers so be warned if there are four of your staying!! The rooms were cleaned dialy and towels / bedding changed every few days

Complex: There are two pools - a kids pool and a large pool, that has a shallow end for the kids - but both are feezing at this time of year. Didn't stop the kids going in though!! There are 2 table tennis & pool tables ( again you have to pay for these), a volley ball court, snack bar, restaurant which no longer does evening meals - €4 for breakfast buffet. Bar with 4 large screens. Daytime entertainment was provided by Big Ed and consisted of games from 1-4pm of pool, darts, volley ball, rifle shooting, table tennis, inflatable races in the pool or water polo on warmer days. The losing side at volleyball had to dive in the pool or sing from the bridge!! Evening entertainment was a quiz, bingo and usually two good acts each evening followed by karaoke. There were a few dead cockroaches by the pool - but what do you expect in tenerife. We were on the ground floor but didn't see any in the room.

Reception: were very helpful & friendly - but be warned to ask what the rate is for the exchange. Most days they were slighly lower than the exchange down the road. One day I exchanged my money and the rate didn't seem right - I questioned the rate and was told that the rate had dropped. When i checked with the exchange down the rate, it was the same as the day before. I went back to question it again and was told that it had changed and the chap on reception hadn't been told so gave me an extra €10 !!! check the rates first and ask for a receipt.

Food: We found it quite expensive to eat out this year due to the change in the pound/ Euro. Most places advertise a full breakfast for €2.95 - but most add coffee, juice & toast to this - one charged €3.50 for the coffee. Intercontinental at Porto Colon Harbour charges €2.95 for 2x everything inclusing toast, juice and coffee and was the nicest breakfast we had. Drinks were also more expensive this year - a lot of bars that were charging €1.50 last year now have signs that say €1.50 with "before 8pm" in small print and then charge €3 or €3.50.

Trips: We went on the Freebird 1 to see the whales and dolphins - If you get it from the direct excursions on the harbour front we got it for €35 each and free child place. We went in the morning and were able to see two different types of dolphins and the whales.
Siam Park: We have previously been to Aquapark but went along to Siam Park. It has about the same number of slides but they are all so much better. The tower of power looks scary but is over in seconds - the dragon is the best ride ever!!! The lazy river is better than any other I have been on - it is so peaceful and winding, you are sometimes going round on your own through lush greenery - or you could take the other route that goes up a conveyer belt and then down through small rapids. You also go through a waterfall and bubble pond. There are lots of lifeguards throughout the whole park & the lazy river alone has about 10 of it's own - even though the water is only 1m deep. Also the waiting areas for the rides is on the shade so no burnt shoulders - and there were double the amount of rings needed for all the rides (but that was in february)
