“Hidden Gem with a twist!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2011

We chose the Black Bull Nateby for our yearly reunion as my friends now live in Scotland. The pub is perfectly situated in beautiful countryside, we really enjoyed the nearby walks that were recommended by the staff who were so lovely, friendly and helpful.
We loved the Italian food, what a lovely surprise to find this delicious food in the countryside!! We will be recommending this lovely place to our friends, a traditional country pub with an Italian twist, lovely clean rooms and super staff. Gary and Jenny Dunning, Warwickshire

Room Tip: we stayed in room 1, double with bath shower, tv, coffee and tea facilities, overlooking countryside

A third rate establishment !Stayed last night (070911)The "double room(room2)is absolutely tiny(only a 3/4 size bed),the bathroom dirty and smelly.
The pub/restaurant has nowhere comfortable to relax and no atmosphere whatsoever.
The pseudo Italian food was bland and poor quality ingredients(I can make better at home)
There was only one cask ale available and to cap it all we were locked out in the rain for a couple of hours.
Not an experience I would repeat nor recommend.A waste of time and money.

we called here during the coast to coast walk and were pleased to discover a bath in our room, having had only showers for much of the way as far as here. when you are walking a bath is very welcome to soak tired muscles in. Food was good and reasonably priced. Our only complaint was at breakfast the self service toaster was not very good at toasting.

We spent a lovely 5 day break at the Black Bull Inn with our dog. We were made very welcome and received excellent and friendly service. The food was delicious and the room very well presented - we knew it would not be a big room, but it was very clean and cosy. It's in a very convenient location and we intend visiting again. Stopped off here for the night on the way home from Scotland, the food was great and plenty of it but I don't think the chef does the mornings as the breakfasts were dryed up and on the small side. The rooms are very dated and looked like they had"nt been decorated or cleaned since the 1980's a bit disappointing but we did have a laugh at the upside down wall paper in our room.....

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2010

We spent one night in the Black Bull Nateby and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were welcoming, the beer good, and the food excellent. My husband said his steak was one the best he'd eaten. My cod was great too, as well as the sticky toffee pud! We were there on one of the coldest, snowiest nights, so the pub was fairly quiet, but the locals who came in were really friendly and we had a great night chatting. The room was nice, clean, and warm. Shower room, cosy and clean. The breakfast was great too, served in a nice dining room. I'd recommend this pub to anyone. The owners have just been there since August and they are doing a great job.
