“R & R at the Long Island Breeze”

Had another great trip to Long Island, Bahamas! Mike, Jackie & the staff were great as always. The food prepared by Jared & Maxine was outstanding. Some other places to visit for a cold drink & conch salad are Kenny's at Sea Side Village & Maxs Conch Bar. Love going to LI and I'll go again in a few months.

We were only able to stay here for a few days, but we wish it could be more! The owners are extraordinarily kind and gracious. Mike (one of the owners) was willing to make dinner for us when we could not find anything open anywhere else, even though the restaurant was technically closed. He even worked around my being a vegetarian and I never felt like I was lacking for food. In addition he was a great help in deciding where to go during our stay here. That is something that's really important here as the island itself does not have the best road signs and it is not always clear where things are or what things are actually interesting and not just hyped up. Mike helped us find great things to do and we were never disappointed at the end of the day.

Also, the other owner was incredibly helpful on the phone before we arrived. When she said she would email something she did so immediately. We didn't know where to rent a car and she told us she would take care of it for us. (And she followed through wonderfully.)

The wifi here works great and is completely free. (We have found that in many places the wifi doesn't stick or takes forever to work, that is NOT the case here.) Also, it was nice to be able to kayak (and it was also free), and wash our clothes. Not to mention that the beds were WONDERFUL. They were far better than the beds at the Sheraton on Nassau. Apparently the owners get mattresses from the US because they are far more comfortable than the ones made in the Bahamas. (Most other hotels seem to use Bahamian mattresses.)

Room Tip: Rooms 10 and 12 have a view of the ocean.

I went there with my sister for Christmas. Being from Paris, neither of us had our driver licence; big mistake if you want to enjoy the island properly, because you really need a car. Yet Mike spontanely asked us if we wanted to visit the island with his family visiting, and so we joined in on a day trip, drove around the island, which is really worth the trip. We had asked for a resort view as it was cheaper, but since the hotel wasn't full when we arrived, we were upgraded to an ocean view, which is amazing btw, for the same price!! And this keeps going on and on: the restaurant is closed on mondays, and we got there a monday, but the staff cooked something for us so we wouldn't have to wander around the island to find something after an exhausting journey.
We decided to shorten our stay as we had friends in Nassau, and Mike was very friendly about it, helping us call Bahamasair to change our flights and providing a car to get us to the airport as the taxis were busy, for the same rate as a local taxi.
If that wasn't enough, the resort in itself is great. There are no words to describe the feeling of having a huge breakfast on the patio, staring at the breathtaking Carribean sea. The rooms are just the right size, and very clean, with a mini fridge, AC, a TV etc. Wifi is available for free everywhere on the property. There are lounging chairs by the pool to enjoy the view. The food is good. And the rates of the rooms are ridiculously cheap, especially compared to those of Nassau. The extra flight is worth getting out of the hassle and unsafe athmosphere of Nassau, even though it is kind of off the beaten path and may not be for you if you are looking for tons of shopping.

Overall, I would say: definitely go there, relax and explore. But rent a car!!

Room Tip: Ocean view!!! Perfect!!

From the Moment I arrived at Long Island Breeze, the stress just seemed to melt away. From the inviting smiles from Jackie & Mike as I've come to know them, to the great , relaxing sea side scenery and perfectly cozy rooms.Even though I am Bahamain Mike and Jackie enlightened me to all the ammenities their resort and Long Island had to offer. From the best beaches not only in the Bahamas, but the in world toThe blue holes,(deepest in the world) cave,(biggest in the Bahamas),local Sailing/Regatta(if you visit @ the right time) and one of the best fishing spots you would likely ever find.Me and my fiancee had a blast, it was both fun and relaxing, and we were treated like family.Cheers to Mike and Jackie who helped made our trip that much more special.Cant wait to return!!

Room Tip: Bottom floor rooms have great views, so dont be alarmed if a 2nd floor unit is taken. The larger room...

If you are inclined to explore an island and try a different beach everyday then Long Island Breeze Resort is the ideal base to do this on Long Island. Situated in the middle of the island and only 20 minutes away from the airport, you can be drinking your relaxing cocktail or beer only 40 minutes or so after landing.
Location: other benefits of the location include a supermarket if you want supplies for picnics; on the lee side of the island so the water is calmer making it better for snorkelling or kayaking; brilliant sunsets.
Room: really good rooms with excellent finish, lovely wood floors, mini-kitchen, pastel colours - always a pleasure to feel at home after a long day of beach-combing or activities.
Staff: not so much staff as friends or even more like family, we really lucked out in this respect. By the 3rd night my drink was waiting for me in a chilled glass at the bar. Mike (co-owner) is extremely approachable and has a wealth of knowledge to advise you on where to have the best experience on any given day according to the daily weather conditions.
Food: very good quality, we ate our fill every night. I love the french toast and coffee in the mornings - best way to start the day.
Family aspect: we went with our 2 year old who had a great time and was free to wander around and explore (within reason!).
I would recommend hiring a car, about $50 a day, so that you can explore the island - we saw and experienced a different beach everyday, our favourites were Galloway landing and the secluded bay at the top tip of the island - this is the best way to find a beach all for yourself. Cape Santa Maria was also a great beach with good food available at the restaurant.
The locals are genuinely very friendly. By the end of our week we knew half the neighbours as well!

Thank you Michael, Jackie, Miles and Diana for making our stay such an experience. Don't forget to give us a shout if you stop by London next year!

From Brendan, Marinella and Stella. xx

Room Tip: Try and get a room in the main cottage (yellow building), we saw all the rooms and they're fanta...

Another great time on Long Island at the Long Island Breeze. The island was beautiful and the hospitality was great as always. The accommodations were excellent and the food/ drinks were plentiful. All is well on the island after Hurricane Irene. Beautiful beaches, friendly Bahamians and great sites to see!

I will be on my 6th stay at this resort. The location is central on the island and the hospitality is always exceptional! The meals are always good and the bartender is quite the mate, he makes a great drink! I really have enjoyed my stay each and every time. The Bahamian people I have made friends also visit and we have a good time. I would recommend the Long Island Breeze for all who visit!
