“A really nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2011

We spent 3 days in this hotel in october and we really liked it. It was not so easy to find it, but our GPS directed us in a wrong way.
We got a very spacious room with a kitchenette and 2 balconies: one seaside, one hillside. The bathroom was small but O.K.
The staff of the hotel is very kind and helpful. There was a nice swimming pool with a lot of lounge-chairs. There was no restaurant in the hotel and neither in the neighbourhood. But as we had a car, it was no problem to find good restaurants within 4 or 5 km.
In the evening it was very quiet there, but we wonder if it was quiet in july/august too.
We visited the valley of the temples and the "Scala dei Turchi". This last is a must to see.
For us certainly a good place to be.

We only stayed one night, but could have stayed for a week. Giovanni, one of the owners, greeted us at 8pm on a weeknight in a beautiful designer suit. He knew we were coming and he seemed genuinely pleased about that! He gave us a wonderful room with a balcony overlooking the sea (quite unexpected!). He recommended a restaurant nearby that served delicious reasonably priced food. In the morning he explained where we should go to maximize our time in the Valley of the Temples. I don't think he and his staff could have helped us any more than they did!

For one night the hotel is ok. But the quality of the services received is more like a 3 stars than a 4 stars hotel.
The room was very spacious, but not with the bathroom. The shower was tiny. And is had a plastic curtain, so it sticked to the body while showering.
The quality of the toiletries was too low.
Wireless internet access costs 5 euros. You have an internet point in reception.
The pool area was very sloppy and messy. There were plenty of dirty and messy sunbeds.

A few miles from the sites, but easy access by car. Stayed in 2 room suite- very comfortable with frig and range. Great staff. Only downside is lack of restaurants- all several miles away.

A pleasant surprise after a long drive, beautiful hotel, large lobby and bar, nice pool, rooms with great views. Everything was clean, rooms were large compared to normal European standards. You won't be disappointed. Staff was really great.

This hotel is perhaps one of the best maintained and operated properties I have ever visited. There is not one smudge on the paint or one scratch on any piece of metal. The owners are always present to give advice or help guests in any way. The place is a little difficult to find the first time but afterwards its quiet setting is a plus since it is right next to the sea. Furthermore good beaches are not far away nor are excellent restaurants. Finally, the price being charged is extremely low for the value received. An outstanding hotel!

This was the first time we had visited Agrigento. The Antica Perla is very good value for money, and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast provides an extensive choice of cold fare.

It is situated next to the seafront in a very quiet neighbourhood but the approach by road to it is very scruffy. There is a large swimming pool, and the hotel has good sea views.

The main reason for visiting was to see the Valley of the Temples, which is outstanding. However, it is worth driving up the coast to see the white cliffs at Realmonte, and also to walk through Agrigento town; from the valley it appear as if the town is made up of just modern blocks, but the old town nestles behind them.

There are some good local restaurants within 10 minutes drive: Kokalos which is on the road to Agrigento, and Bar La Vela and Caico in San Leone. However, we found that the cooking facilities in the apartment at Antica Perla were adequate for cooking our own pasta dishes.

Room Tip: Pick one of the rooms on the first floor with a terrace as rooms on other floors only have balconies...
