This was a place, where in my childhood it was hard to get to, rooms were allocated to the ruling communist party elite, and it was considered a great luck to get a place there. After a long break, I was there again twice for the past two years, and the impressions are mostly positive. Set in the woods right on the shores of the lake, with a nice private beach (which got narrower due to the recent rise in the surface level of the lake, so that the pier is now submerged completely into the water), very well kept and clean, big, even if a bit too empty rooms, nice bathrooms, the hotel is indeed a good choice, even if to some degree due to a surprising lack of good options to stay on Sevan lake. The place does have, despite the remodeling a very Soviet feel in it, and is a bit "cold" with the echoes off the marble everywhere, but overall, coupled with good service, and very adequate and responsive management, I cannot but recommend this hotel for a nice weekend or more on Sevan lake. One small thing to add, both times I was there out of the season, in mid-June, so cannot say how much better/worse the place gets, when the crowds arrive.
