I stayed in this resort for 2 nights and it was great. The staff is friendly and the rooms were neat and clean. The guides knows their job wel especially Solly, he did a great job for us. Would not mind going there again

Room Tip: Request a room that is not located next to family rooms

I stay in this resort in my trip to South Africa. It is about two hours drive from Johannesburg, but the road was fine. This resort was in the private game reserve and you will be in a very comfortable area. Only the guests who stay here are allowed in this area, that means the only strangers you will meet are wild animals. The services are good and the ranger guys are great especially Frans. He is very helpful espesially during the early morning and afternoon game drive to spot the Big 5. The lobby is very comfy and the rooms are very nice. The room design are typical African and this is a good experience for those who like nature. The negative thing is no free WIFI. The food is fabulous and abundant. Very good breakfast. They serve early morning tea and coffee before the game drive and afternoon tea before you depart for late afternnon game drive. Animals such as deers, warthogs roam outside the garden. This hotel has a small pool but not too interesting as it is too near to the walking area. This resort is good for family or honeymooner.

Room Tip: Choose a room not too far from the reception area if you are afraid of the quietness during midnight...

My husband and I stayed at the main lodge for a couple nights. We found the rooms comfortable The first night was fine but the 2nd night we did not have much sleep as we were in the middle of two family rooms with very loud children running around which is not entirly the hotel fault but think they could have allocated the rooms alot better as they were not full so could have spaced out the guests. We thought meals were lovely and staff friendly.

Rooms need attention, they are very average. Staff are great. Breakfast very good. Some meals are not good but most are quite good. Game drives are great.
The boma is a bit unauthentic and too bright with two floodlights.

We stayed in the separate lodges (sunset hill) and I expected a little more from their interiors. A little disappointed that there was no Lion in the reserve (apparently they are in the reserve next door which you book separate game drives for) but we saw a few firsts in a Aardwolf and a very active Bush Baby which was great. Was an enjoyable weekend, and we will probably go back as its a short drive for the weekend from Johannesburg.

The lodge is beautiful, cozy and comfortable. The staff is also helpful. They have all the facilities like swimming pool, tennis courts, games centre, a private reptile park sort of etc. The rooms are distantly located and is amid the forests giving a nice feeling of the area.

The food was average though.

Room Tip: Take a 2 night stay at the reserve.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2012

18-21 May. I was staying as a guest at one of the share block houses close to the main lodge.
On Saturday morning a letter was left on the verandah by the manager, Hennie Nel, stating that there was going to be a wedding that afternoon and evening and whether we liked loud music or not they were sorry for the inconvenience!! What arrogance, cheek and basic greed! A letter should have been sent out a month in advance, when the wedding was booked, to all guests so that we could have the choice of coming for that weekend or not.
The noise that night was intolerable and unacceptable and despite the staff assurances that the disco would switch off at 23:00, after many heated calls to the front desk they eventually switched off the music at 01:00!!
