We have been many times to this resort, as from 1999. No information was given on the change of management, The resort has apparently been sold to Taiwanness investors. Among many other reasons we like the specific atmosphere created by the former owners. The food was very expensive and not up to the standard one can expect of a resort in this prize bracket. The service was also below the former standards.

After spending a wonderful first night in Pisa, we drove to Villa di Monte Solare in hope of some much needed relaxation and pampering. We were not disappointed!
A stunning hotel where the owners cater to your every need; the scheduled events were superb and we particularly enjoyed walking around the grounds and hearing the history of the villa.
The food in the restaurant was exquisite. We decided to drive out to a local town in the hills one evening and sampled a more rustic meal, but we could have been more than happy to spend every evening sitting outside at Villa di Monte Solare!
We actually stayed in August/September 2011 (I have just been very slack in reviewing!)

Room Tip: We were given a separate villa away from the main hotel - we had a pool and terrace that was just fo...

Terrific, if somewhat remote, hotel. Staff is impeccable, professional and speak English. Located within a vineyard and olive grove, on the top of a hill, it has lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Dining room excellent, both the food and the service. Lovely breakfast buffet. Two swimming pools and a clay tennis court.

Room Tip: I stayed in one of the outlying buildings, the Casa dei Gelsi. Great views from the patio; swimming...

We stayed here three days in April 2012. It is really a great place!
Everything was just perfect: view, apartmats, restorant, SPA! The lemons bloomed in the garden: their smell was terrific!
Filippo and Rosi treated with love to their hotel! They very friendly and hospitable! Rosi was asking at supper as we spent the day.
We loved the SPA! I had the procedure for hair and body, and enjoyed a lot! A good specialist and perfect care cosmetics. I became a fan of Carita.
Thanks you, Filippo and Rosi! We'll be back!

This is one of the most divine, peaceful, relaxing hotels anywhere in the world. Tucked away in a quiet hillside nook, this luxury hotel has everything you need to relax - excellent food, great lodging, two pools and a spa. I have been there twice, and it is so relaxing, you might have a hard time leaving to go sight-seeing. The hotel is a great jumping off point for some of the historical towns in the area - Orvieto, Assisi and Perugia among my favorites. This area of Italy for those who despise the heavily trafficked tourist towns of Tuscany and you want to discover the real Italy - and the better Italy in my opinion. The staff are also incredibly generous with their time and helpful in many ways. I also got upgraded from a single to a double room my past stay of four nights. There are also great hikes from the door step of the hotel - I would usually walk for a hour in the many hikes around the hills before breakfast. Enjoy this special treat of a place!

This is an outstanding family owned hotel that will absolutely delight. The staff is attentive, the owners charming and the place is so beautiful we had a difficult time saying good bye. It is close to all the best things to see in the Umbria area. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The entire place is luxurious and quiet. I can't imagine you can go wrong anywhere.

My wife and I recently stayed here and had an exceptionally amazing stay.
Upon first arriving we were greeted by gorgeous views of the Umbrian countryside. Tucked neatly on a hill, surrounded by olive groves and a vineyard, every aspect and view is immaculately manicured. The grounds are gorgeous, the staff is very helpful and courteous, and the food is absolutely incredible!

Wander around the walled Italian garden and discover the chapel. Then, head to the pool and take in the sweeping views of the Muserale Valley and the Mongiovino hills.Take a cooking class with the chef to learn authentic Italian cuisine and then try to match a wine to your dish with a wine tasting session.
