We stayed at Il Borgo mid september for a week. The resort is a winery and beautifully built. Our room was very nice (it is rustic though, so one should not expect city hotel style rooms) and very comfortable. The bathroom and shower was great. The breakfasts were lovely as they were outside on the rooftop patio. The hotel staff were also very helpful and nice. All in all it was a great place to stay.

It took us a while to locate the hotel which is certainly not anywhere close to Radda!

The setting is nice, pretty traditional houses, the landscape beautiful, the pool nothing special but can prove very welcoming on a hot long day! the rooms have a heavy village feel to it. A small semi functioning tv, an empty fridge, no glasses make the room's equipment. The wifi is free but reception works only "outside the rooms" as we were told and discovered! The bathrooms are small with a basic shower and decent water pressure.

The hotel's wine reception/ tasting area and restaurant are beautiful, with nice views and the breakfast pretty decent (though they charge extra for any eggs and second coffee!!).

The service needs improvement. We were told we had to leave next day as it was full ( which was ok as we did not have a reservation), then suddenly they had, then we had to move rooms but no one came help carry our luggages all the numerous steps and paths..
At check they eventually ruined our holiday by ....not returning our passports.... Which we discovered 250km later and missed our flights. They didn't offer to meet us half way and after driving all they way back to get them, they graciously offered us a whole bottle of...WATER!
( what happened to their great wine???!)

I have spent a fair amount of time in Italy, and I honestly can not say that I have been more impressed by a hotel. The staff were extremely helpful, and very friendly. The rooms were quaint, and clean. These necessities can be found anywhere, though. What really sets Vescine apart from the rest is the place itself. The view from the pool allows you to see the sun set over another city, and it is honestly one of the best sights I've ever seen. The hotel itself is nearly a thousand years old (restored of course), and is breathtaking. All of the ancient stonework is incredible. The 'borgo' is like a very small village consisting of maybe ~10 buildings. Whether you are looking for a wine retreat, or just want one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany to get away, it truly doesn't get better than this!

After three days in Florence Region Villa De Olmi we took the wine route of Chianti . Last minute booking and decided to stay at Il Borgo di Vescine just outside Radda on the main wine route. It was a little difficult to find but definately possible and not too terrible getting lost in Heavenly Tuscany. Borgo Di Vescine is just lovely. Like a tiny hamlet set on the side of a mountain of its own and stunning views. The rooms are like little chatlets with their own little terraced areas to enjoy your own private view of this stunning area. Not good if you want somewhere that is easy to get around and girls definately "No Heals" but certainly worth it. Rooms are rustic but big and have all you need including bathrobes, wifi, minibars etc.... Stunning little pool with honesty bar and icecreams. Residents just signed what they had taken and were charged on departure. Perfect as you could help yourselves whenever you wanted. Wines were stunning and we sat and had our own little tasing overlooking the views! Restaurant was simple and delicious and again with beautiful views and very pleasant staff. only thing to remember is that it does have the odd insect about as you are in the middle of the countryside but as long as you protect yourself from the odd bite they will not bother you. Its a great location to base yourself and also if you wish to dine off site you are very close to Radda which is a stunning little town. on our last night we decided to pay a visit and it was the Watermelon Festival. The whole town were dining in the square on huge long tables and eating local produce and of course Watermelon for desert. Live music playing and families of all generations dancing. It was magical!! Thank You Tuscany for making my dream come true. This is just the beginning I will return once again with my wonderful partner Dustin.
