“Already planning our next visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

I cannot say enough about Hotel Villa Campomaggio. We selected this resort after HOURS of research and could not have been happier with our selection. The grounds are beautiful with break-taking views from all directions. The pool is well-maintained and was a perfect oasis in the July heat. The rooms are clean and spacious, the common areas are beautifully decorated and very welcoming. We spent time lounging on the outdoor patios, drinking wine, reading and relaxing. Bountiful breakfast buffet with delicious selections that kept us full until dinner. The staff was professional, kind and extremely helpful with directions, dinner reservations and whatever else we needed. On our next visit to Italy, whenever that may be, we plan on spending the entire time at Villa Campomaggio. We were there four nights and our only regret is that our stay wasn't longer!

If you visit, a rental car is a must, as we spent several days driving to popular spots 30-45 minutes from the resort. Also, Laura recommended Osteria Le Panzanelle, a local restaurant in Lucarelli - less than five minutes away by car. We ate there three of our four nights! Delicious food at reasonable prices...a wonderful Tuscan experience.

Room Tip: Suites 41 and 42 on the second level are large and sunny

We just returned from a week long stay at Villa Campomaggio. It was a wonderful spot...the staff was most efficient and helpful and made sure we were able to see the World Cup final from Rio! The apartment we had was comfortable, clean and had a small kitchenette, tv and a/c. The property was very nice and well maintained. The pool was quiet, the patio and terrace areas offered the best views and the inner courtyard offered a perfect setting for drinks and meals. I did not get to the spa, but will do that next time. The location is ideal for a quiet Tuscan break...market towns nearby and situated between Florence and Siena. I would absolutely recommend this beautiful spot. It really does " tick all the boxes"!!

Room Tip: We asked for an apartment in a quiet location and that is exactly what we got!

This was the second time we decided to visit Villa Campomaggio. We spent there two great days in great room, fantastic pool area and the outstanding views to Chianti. We are sure that we came back in the next year. We were at many places but this one we like the most. Shortly speaking: great, clean room, super breakfast, tasty cafe latte :), very nice SPA and pool, extremely helpful and nice service. Best regards and see you soon. Agata & Rafal

We started our vacation here and could not have been happier, what a beautiful place and everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. We stayed for 3 nights, enjoying the gorgeously set up wine tasting and appetizers our first night, all recommendations from Laura at the front desk were wonderful, most especially her recommendation for a restaurant in Castellina in Chianti on our last evening. Because we were out most of the day touring the area, we did not get to swim in the pool though it was a lovely area - there is no restaurant on the premises but they do a fantastic breakfast buffet each morning, and the patio area was absolutely perfect to relax at night with a bottle of wine and friends. The overall atmosphere is so peaceful that it made it very difficult to leave - we very much hope to be able to return someday and would highly recommend it to anyone travelling in the region.

Wonderful setting, close to Radda and Chianti. Excellent breakfast and good views of Radda. Pool is also good. We used to live in the area and I would rate this hotel as the best in the area. The staff were very friendly and polite.

Room Tip: Junior suite is excellent

Villa Campomaggio and the Chianti region was one of the highlights of our trip. If you think the photos of the villa and its surroundings look beautiful, you will not be disappointed once you arrive at the property. Our junior suite which was incredibly spacious overlooked the pool and vineyards and from the room's window, you'll be able to catch the sunrise. The villa's compound was always quiet and peaceful. Receptionists over the 4 days we stayed were warm, friendly and generously offered suggestions on places to dine at with notes on town parking etc. Most recommended restaurants are within a 10-20 minute drive from the villa and the roads leading to some of these places offer breathtaking views. It was very hard to leave the place when it was time to check out but we hope to return as retirees one day and enjoy another stay at Villa Campomaggio this lifetime!

I liked literally everything except 3 things:
1. Food menu must be wider. Now its poor which is unfortunate
2. I dont like to see the only receptionist sitting in the bar at 9pm and drinking wine with barman, she needs to stay at the reception and be available for customers
3. Unfortunately massage was very poor. Their inhouse male elderly masseur doesnt understand anything about it. Very weak fingers, no power, pushing nonrhythmically so customers cannot breathe rhythmically. Very bad experience. They could rather hire some Thai girl e.g., she could make high quality Thai, oil, ayuverda etc. Waste of time and money, no effect. And techniques are amateur.
So, if you only need a room, view, tranquility and pool - perfect choice. If you start interacting with staff and augmented services - below average experience.

Dear Guest,

I am really very amused that, writing this review, You have decided to wear the Manager Dress and want to tell us how to organize the staff. We all thank you for the advices, but we prefer our policy:
The Receptionists work at the desk, accompany the guests around the hotel, and, why not, serve at the BAR. This is our policy, everybody can do everything.

Maybe you didn't notice, but we are in the Chianti, the most beautiful countryside in the world. I deeply think it's not appropriate propose a Thai massage in our SPA, it's better have a wine therapy, or a olive oil relax massage. All treatments that offer natural products of our land.
Anyway, The pleasure of the massage is very subjective, someone like it strong and someone like mild. We are sorry you didn't appreciate the ours.

We are sure you will find other more commercial places that can offer you every service apart from the soul of the place where you are. We prefer offer an "Original Chianti Vacation" in respect of the expectations of the majority of our Guets.

Best regards
