“Very nicely decorated with stunning views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

We had planned for a two nights stay at this beautiful hotel but enjoyed it so much that decided to extend our stay for another day. How many times have you booked an hotel room to then find out yours wasn't quite the same as the picture? Well this is not the case here. The room was everything you could see on the pictures and more. Very spacious, spotless with a wonderful contemporary feel. Stunning views and fantastic bathroom. As it is explained on the hotel's page, the bathroom is separated by a window screen but if you want privacy there are curtains, plus the toilet is separate to the bath/shower. Fantastic walk in shower with beautiful far reaching views and a wonderful sunset. Extremely romantic. Bed was like a cloud and I was particularly impressed by the cot they kindly supplied for our baby. Outstanding breakfast and very friendly staff. Couldn't reccommend more.

We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend while attending to a convention. Here is our verdict in few words: we had just a nice stay.
The hotel has a great location, with a beautiful beach on site. The lobby is small and dark, with an original Joana Vasconcelos big shoe.
Our room #1217 was on the 12th floor with an amazing balcony and views over the beach and Arrábida. We even saw dolphins near seashore on two occasions. It was a spacious and comfy room, with some design items, pretending to be minimalist. However, most of the finishing and furniture were low cost. The bathroom got all steamed up while showering. Overall, the in-room amenities were limited, not like a real 5 stars hotel.
The breakfast was bellow expectations, with inconstant service and awful crêpes, pancakes and waffles. Don’t even dare to eat them.
Nevertheless, we’d like to emphasize that this hotel has good infrastructures to host a convention, and it has complimentary wireless internet and onsite parking.

The Hotel is very beautiful and has very interesting facilities nearby and inside, a very god breakfast but not so good food at the lobby bar. Ideal for medium size (300-500 participants) scientific meetings. The worst aspect has to do with the access from Lisbon with the need to wait for the ferry boat that travels only every hour or even with a wider interval in Winter.

Room Tip: Rooms, particularly >10th floor have a wonderful view

Great place for a weekend stay. Very close to beautiful beach where you can walk for hours. Just a few km to a great golf course and a high standard hotel with a very friendly staff. Rooms are large with good view regardless of direction. Hotel service is perfect. Very much a can-do mentality. Troia centre is a nice area but not for longer than a weekend. The main attractions are the beach, golf and the hotel. The beach is magnificient and you can walk for miles.

We stayed in this Hotel for 1 night and we couldn´t be more happier with thise choice.
It´s definitely a 5 star hotel. The staff is super kind and nice, even after the check out we were able to use the magnificent outside pool (great views) and leave the car on the free park. The rooms are very spacious and modern with some breahtaking views. The breakfast is all you can eat :) with a great quality. It´s a place to return again with no doubts at all. To the hotel staff, keep the hotel nice and nit, attention to the mole that is starting to appear on the wc´s.

Room Tip: Use 1011 room - Great views to the sunset & beach & Arrábida mountain.

We got a deluxe room for 7 nights in August. The views on all sides of the building are great since Troia is a peninsula so you've got sea views from almost any point. The breakfast was fantastic and the pool area is very pleasant. One drawback is getting to the beach, They've tried their best to make it accessible but the beaches that are close to the hotel aren't that great. You probably want to go to the ones on the atlantic but it's quite a hike. Also the marina area is really shabby. Cheap looking restaurants, crowds, disgruntled employees... Sorry but not the sort of place that you want around a 5 star hotel. There's not much to do on Troia (I do recommend renting a bike and going for a stroll). There's a small supermarket and a couple of stores. So if you're looking for restaurants (and drugstores!), better take the ferry to Setubal where the local cuisine is cheap and good.

I spent one night only at Troia Design Hotel in late August 2012. I had mixed feelings, as I had read quite mixed reviews. But as I found a nice deal on booking.com, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. And I was very pleasantly surprised. We stayed in a studio, which was spacious, with a nice sea view, a huge bed, a balcony and a beautiful big bathroom. The staff was attentive, the room very clean. The breakfast was well-organized, even though I was disappointed not by the variety, but by the quality of some of the food. The waffles and the pancakes looked great, but were dry and tasteless. It would be worthwhile finding a new recipe for those. The jams were awful. Minor details, but they contribute to the overall quality of the stay. The pool is quite small for the size of the hotel, but the pool area is really nicely decorated and very comfortable. The beach is a short walk from the hotel and it is excellent. So definitely worth visiting. For a reasonable price, not the ridiculous rates they charge on their website...
