“Impressed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2012

I've been living and working in India for 2.5 years. In this time I've travelled extensively for both work and pleasure and I've come to expect the highest levels of service and experience from Indian establishments. I'm pleased to report that my recent stay at the Grand Hyatt Bambolim, Goa, lived up to those expectations in the majority of areas and exceeded my expectations in others. The resort staff take this resort from good to great. As you'd expect at a Hyatt, they are courteous and attentive without being intrusive but what sets them apart is their ability to anticipate what you might need next...From the Club staff to the F&B team, to the function staff, the service levels were great. Nothing was not possible!
I stayed in the Club guest house which is a little removed from the main reception and provides good insurance against late night partying in the bar(s) and restaurants. The rooms are spacious, well appointed for either business or pleasure and with bathrooms which are very well fitted out with baths, showers, separate loo; but the thing which makes a difference is they got the lighting right - the bathrooms are bright! they've managed to get the lighting, power points and audio right which is great!!
The amenities are great - good pool area with plenty of both shaded and sunny spots to occupy depending on your requirement; a good selection of bars, dining facilities (traditional indian to full mediterranean to lite snacks); and a great spa where the treatments are first class.
Some tips for staying: 1) The resort appears to be a popular spot for top end conferences and weddings so, if you're not in the mood to party then ask for a room away from the potential noise; 2) The resort is on the Bay not the Ocean so you'll need to travel if you want a Goa Ocean Beach experience. There are beach activities - volley ball, archery, yoga etc but the beach is not what some of us would expect; 3) the resort is quite large, so I found it good for both group partying and individual peace and quiet.
Enjoy!!

Room Tip: Choose the Grand Club Rooms if you have the choice. The use of the club facilities adds a special t...

Dear Sirs,

I have lived and worked in India for the past 10 years (from Edinburgh, Scotland) and during this time have travelled extensively around the country on both business and pleasure, and stayed in some excellent hotels.

The service in ALL the hotels I have stayed in (sometimes with my wife) has always been excellent. I am delighted to say the during our two recent stays at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Goa (January and March 2012) that the service and attention of all the staff and management was excellent plus!

I have not stayed in any other Indian hotels, or for that matter, anywhere else in the world, where the senior management were so visible. The General Manager, Stefan and Food & Beverage Manager, Glen were particularly involved in all the activities of the hotel, and were always on hand for friendly advice.

We had a lovely Club Room, 7116 (block C) ground floor with a beautiful view out to lawns and the sea. The hotel grounds are very large and the weddings that took place during both our stays were fascinating and fun to watch, and by 2200 hrs in the evening, by law, any music was stopped. The outside activiites of the weddings had stopped by that time anyway.

The Club Room allowed access to the the Club facilities area where breakfast could be had (excellent!) Coffe and soft drinks were available all day, afternoon cakes, and from 1800 hrs to 2000 hrs in the evenings, light food selection and drinks were available.

The swimming pool facilities and attention to service, towels, food etc was again first class and very friendly. I managed to attend a free yoga class for an hour on the lawns every morning!

The Spa had just been recently opened and we both had treatments which were very good, although some improvements in the ambience and the warmth of the treatment rooms is required. There was no Hairdressing or Beauty Salon, although we were advised that this was planned.

The food outlets we tried were all first class, and our favourite was the Verandha which was fine dining at it's best. We also ate at the Indian Restaurant, Chulha, and having eaten Indian food for the past 10 x years, this was as good as it gets!

We managed, reluctantly, to travel outside the hotel (women and their need to shop!) on a few occassions and the Hotel can arrange good a/c vehicles and safe drivers (at a small cost)

It was the most relaxing holiday we have had for some time, and we felt special all the time!

I have just extended my contract to work in India until May 2013, and one thing is certain, we will return to the Grand Hyatt for more luxury and relaxation!

Great property from interiors, but you really want the experience in a hotel in Goa to include a great beach side experience as well. And thats the downside of the hotel. It only has a bay view, and not a beach. Also the buffet dinner menu at the main restaurant can get a bit repetitive. The bar area is huge and you may feel lonely out there. Add to it lots of office conferences going on, and you have a restaurant full of fully clothed conference attendees mixing with a few beach wear decked holidayers. Overall a great service experience, and being located in central goa has access decently close access to the popular beaches of north goa. And finally being a spa junkie, i did try their spa, and tye masseuse was a very well trained person. Full marks for it, but the steam and jacuzzi are still not functional in april 2012 as the property is still in the development phase. For the price i paid for it, almost 120US$ for a session, I was a tad unhappy.

Room Tip: Please ask for a room in Guest House 3 or 4 for a better view of the bay. Pls avoid rooms which dont...

Dear IndianaSud,

Greetings from Grand Hyatt Goa!

Thank you for the detailed review of your stay with us. We are very happy to know that you liked our property; however I do understand the beach has been a concern for you.

Our resort is located on the calm and inviting waters of Bambolim Bay making it a preferred place to unwind and relax, in addition to amazing view of the magical sunsets. If you are exclusively looking for a property with a vast stretch of sea shore then I would recommend our sister property Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa which is located in South Goa.

Thanks for your encouraging comments about Shamana Spa. Thank you once again for your feedback. I do hope you and your family will visit again soon and give us another opportunity to serve you.

With best regards,

Stayed here on a business conference, with people from Asia and Pacific. Wow, what a great time we had, the room was fabulous and spacious, enjoyed the comfortable bed and the lovely shower. Very big bathroom overall. TV was good to watch, nice big screen. Had all the amenities that you would expect from a Hotel, ironing board, room safe, etc. Room was quiet and dark, slept in most mornings, bliss. Loved the airconditioning which was needed in April. Hotel is very big and spacious, loved the lovely big pool, great for everyone to enjoy. They looked after you at the pool with towels etc and sun loungers. Staff were very helpful and were willing to help in anyway at all, greeted you when ever they saw you.

Loved the Verandah restaurant, fab food and you can get a western style meal there, great staff in all the bars and restaurants.

Excellent stay all over, would recommend. Great place to stay and just relax.

Room Tip: Stayed on ground floor in Guest house 2, air conditioning nice and quiet for all night use. No sea...

Stayed here on my last visit in april. On First look The Hotel looked nice and Vast, which it indeed is. The Rooms were big and spacey with a large balcony attached. the balcony was a nice area to chill and have some drinks. it would have been better if i had a sea view room but i had to remain content with the "kitchen chimney view".

The bathroom was big as well with a bathtub and separate toilet and shower areas. The standard fare of toiletries and towels etc was all as expected. the bedroom had really comfortable beds and a large LCD screen to the right. the screen could be moved side to side to adjust the angle.

What was weird was the light switch system in this hotel. It takes a while to figure out. When i turned the dimmer on my side the light over the other bed popped open. Simple stuff like that. It doesn't make your stay unpleasant if you laugh it off as silly.

The food is ok, nothing great. The presentation of food is worse. For some reason they get the food in steel box tiffin containers. Epic Fail. My dosa came not in a plate but in a container all layered up and soggy. The room service guy in the morning seemed irritated and when i asked for suggestions told me to refer to the menu

The menu is pretty pathetic.not one goan delicacy on it. it has the standard fare of things and honestly i wasn't impressed. i ordered food 3 times as i spent the entire day in the hotel and it was average at best.

The service was courteous and acceptably speedy but the food not so much. When i ordered beer it seemed that the guy who got it shook it up pretty nice on the walk over. Every beer that i opened spilled out as if shaken on purpose. Beer was chilled but not chilled enough. Moderately cold at best .

you can walk to the beach, chill out at the open air lounge and they have a hoard of activities planned for you like beach volleyball and beach cricket and water stuff etc etc. an entire day spent here can be quite relaxing. there was some sort of a spa but i never got to it.

All in all i would definitely stay here again. Especially if you are a couple who want to stay in doing the hanky panky.

Room Tip: Get the sea view Room. the C Wing is closest to the sea i believe.

I stayed at Grand Hyatt, again after a gap of six months. Have to especially mention that their Dining Room has wonderful food, and wonderful service. And the manager, Rahul, is really really welcoming and takes such good care of everyone.

On the negatives, I had a problem with the bookings, - despite booking a room nearly 5 weeks in advance i didn't get a connecting room(as we are 2 adults with 3 kids), and was informed only a couple of days before our stay and that caused us a lot of inconvenience. Rohit(from the reception) did manage to give us an interconnecting room, but we didn't take it as it overlooked the pool and it was really noisy. Also whenever there is a huge group staying, their housekeeping gets a bit lax.

Apart from that, it was a wonderful stay, and i hope that the grand hyatt team works to remove these hiccups!

Grand Hyatt is located in the Bambolim Bay. The property is good and well maintained. However, there aren't too many activities that you can do either at the hotel or nearby. Food is good but not necessarily made to indian taste.

Rooms are nice and strangely all rooms are of the same size but differently prices depending on the view. Black 7 apparently has the best club rooms.
