“Lakes pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013 via mobile

Eaten here several times and have always had a good meal - high standard of pub food if a little expensive. Fish and chips absolutely excellent. Good range of beers, particularly the Brittania made for the pub. Nice atmosphere of walkers and people on holiday.

“Great pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

Have only had lunch-time snacks here, but it is a great pub with lots of atmosphere. Broccoli & stilton soup was a real winner on our recent visit. Good beer.

“Real ale,Real warmth and Real quality !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

A remarkable and potent combination of excellent beer, food, service and a lovely ambience in Elterwater - the owners and staff really 'know what they are doing' - real ale and 'hearty' home made food compliment the open fire and warmth of the excellent staff . The pies are spectacular and the combination of black pudding and hallumi cheese as a starter was inspirational. We will return !!

“A Warm Welcome After a Good Walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

The Britannia claims to have been around for 500 years - even if less, they've certainly used the time wisely to get it right. Wonderful location in the village, with the river plashing nearby. Great choice of locally brewed real ales, and a decent selection of wines, fairly priced. The menu is for the most part traditional pub grub, but of high quality ingredients and very well prepared. Service was prompt and cheerful, despite the large number of walkers and tourists enjoying a sunny September Sunday.
