“Changing the Definition of 5 Stars”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

This is more of a thank you to all of the staff at Sandalwood. You should be very proud of the experiences you create for your guests. The property is beautiful, the views are spectacular the spa services were great and the restaurant was fantastic. We stayed for four days (Orchid/Jasmine/Leelawadee) and were treated to a truly special and memorable vacation event. Every staff person went out of their way to make us feel welcome, to make us feel special and to make us feel a bit sad when we finally left. Questions were seemingly answered before really asked, help was offered before we thought we might need it and arrangements were made before we even made it to the concierge area to sort things out. I have travelled well in excess of 2,500 days over my recent career and this was by far one of the top 3 hotel/resort experiences I have ever had in my life anywhere in the world. My advice to would be for travellers, to dig a bit deeper, read the reviews and open your mind to a new view, a new perspective and a new service experience that in total, was simply amazing.

Room Tip: All of the rooms were great - the view from Leelawadee was truly spectacular

Can't speak highly enough about this place. The staff were friendly and helpful. You do need to get a car down to the beach, but the drivers are here whenever you need them. You can also go down to Chaweng or Lamai for free at 11am. We stayed in the Camellia room which has fantastic views across Chaweng beach and a private plunge pool. The restaurant is good but you will probably want to eat out some nights. You can get a lift to Dr Froggs for 100 baht and get a table overlooking the sea.

Room Tip: Camellia is great for a family of 4

Just returned from 10 nights at the Sandalwood in Koh Samui. We cannot recommend this small resort of just 10 luxury villas enough. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are always smiling and really attentive without being intrusive. The attention to detail is seriously impressive and includes touches such as providing a beach bag, a mobile phone to call for a car at anytime, an extensive DVD and book library, snorkels and flippers and so much more.
On top of all of this all the villas are beautiful and have stunning views. Which ever you stay in I don't think you will be disappointed. Some have pools but the communal infinity pool was never crowded and has an amazing view.
We were also impressed with the restaurant which is of an exceptional standard and reasonable in price. There really isn't any need to eat elsewhere and in fact when we did we were disappointed. Our rate included breakfast and the choice was extensive with all orders cooked to order including beautiful smoked salmon Eggs Benedict and Thai options as well.
I could go on and on waxing lyrical about this beautiful idyll - if you want quality, views to die for and to be treated as an individual then don't hesitate in choosing Sandalwood Villas.
Thanks to Robert and his team we had a truly memorable holiday and we will definitely be back!

First rate service, excellent room (Camellia) for a family of four (3 & 6) and would return anytime. Jip and the team were always willing to help and with a genuine smile. Good breakfast too, which always helps get the day off to a good start.

Dear James; Thank you so much for being our 500th reviewer! We appreciate the "excellent " review rating, and your giving us the big thumbs up. It's people like you (and the other 499 reviewers) that have made us the number 1 top hotel, in all of Koh Samui, throughout the last five years. We are constantly trying to improve the guest's experience at Sandalwood, and if it wasn't for satisfied guests like you, we wouldn't be here. Khup khun Kup!

We stayed in the Camelia Room, excellent services (including the free local mobile phone provided), kids enjoy the private pool and comfortable with the room (my 2 years old son already asking when we will go there again), the staffs are very friendly and helpful....food was excellence (next time my wife definitely need to attend the cooking class with the master chef there..) and the best thing of all, we really enjoy the panaromic view from the room and the breeze that came through...thumbs up...

Loved everything about this hotel, we've been on our honeymoon, along with 8 more nights stay in 2 different hotels in phuket.

We enjoyed Sandalwood the most, with its magnificent location, in the middle of the mountain full of greenery overlooking the deep blue ocean.

Staff were all very helpful, they gave us a cell phone as soon as we arrived, which was perfect, so we easily called the driver to pick us up late nights from chaweng, which was pretty convenient.

We also rented a motorbike, which was lots and lots of fun, however we had an accident right at the hotel's door!!! so i wouldnt suggest driving up the mountain with a motorbike!! Having said that hotel staff were lovely, they helped us out and they were there first hand discussing with us with the local mechanic about the bike fixing fees.

Service was super, the ambience was so chilled out, and their spa was out of this world!! My husband and i actually slept in the middle of a massage!! which is a first!

Thank you all the lovely staff and Special Thanks to Joy, if you're still there :)

Room Tip: We stayed at the Camelia and it was superb, however it had 2 beds which we didnt need as honeymooner...

If you want to enjoy Koh Samui to the fullest - stay at Sandalwood Villas. It's located right between Chaweng and Lamai. The rooms are beautiful with authentic decor, infinity pools, the most incredible restaurant, spectacular views, and a super kind staff. We had the best massages in their sublime spa. The buffet breakfast every morning could not be beat. It was all first rate! Sandalwood Villas is owned by a wonderful couple Robert & Amy who made our experience on this island fantastic! They even provided us with a local phone and gave us advice on what to do and where to go. There is so much to do on Samui and we were exposed to many things and places that tourists normally wouldn't know about - we're so grateful!
