We enjoyed our stay at Promtsuk Buri very much. The villa's are spacious and the outside bathroom are a very nice surprise. Breakfast and other food is very good. People are very service oriented and efficient.
Unfortunate the restaurant is closed in the evening and there is no swimming pool.
However this is well compensated with the beautiful beach and other excellent restaurants nearby.

After having stayed previously at a rather pretentious five star beach resort this really hit the spot! This was a little slice of.."trust me, it's paradise".
The beach bungalow is right on the beach, very clean and well equipped. The included breakfast surpassed all expectations and really set you up for the day. All staff were most cooperative and helpful at all times. We hired very good scooters from the front desk at a great price to explore the island; you do need some form of independent transport as taxi prices are a bit full on! Promtsuk is only ten minutes from Chewang Beach, in fact it's not really far to anywhere and easily 'doable' on a scooter. The four nights spent here became the benchmark for all other stays in Thailand - it really was hard to beat! Thanks to all at Promtsuk Buri for giving us the Koh Samui experience I had dreamed of all winter back in a cold UK.

Room Tip: As you're here might as well have the beach front bungalow.. it makes sense!

We stayed here on the last night of our 2 week stay in Thailand. The hotel room was clean tidy and well appointed. I love the outside/inside bathrooms they do in Thailand. It shares a beach with three other hotels and is side by side and apparently shares kitchen and other facilities with the Thongtakian hotel.

The location on the beach was really good and people from our group utilised it even before we checked in here. It was particularly good for families with children and the neighbouring Thongtakian had a pool which was good for kids and ample open grass spaces for them to run around.

The breakfast was good and included in the room price. There was a shop on the grounds and plenty of taxi, mini vans and mopeds onsite to hire. The only bad points for us were the fact we had requested a baby cot with our booking but told they had run out when we arrived, and there were no phones in the rooms.

Definitely one to consider of returning to Koh Samui for a cheap and practical option, close to Lamai beach.

Lovely quiet little resort on Thongtakian Beach, really chilled out place. We had the beachfront bungalow - gorgeous view! The room was clean and comfortable, nice open air bathroom. There are a couple of restaurants on the bay - nothing fancy but good value. Breakfast at the resort is served at their outdoor restaurant/bar. English breakfast or cereals, pancakes, fruit the choice was good.

The beach was beautiful, we stayed beginning of January for 4 nights, the beach was never crowded. There are no sunbeds, it's that laid back! The location is about 5 mins on a moped from lamai - you will probably need some transport. The staff were polite and helpful!

There is no pool so very few children staying. Would definitely recommend for a quiet relaxing break for couples on a budget but wanting decent accommodation and beautiful beach.

Room Tip: Choose Beach bungalow if you want a sea view, but all rooms are pretty similar.

Searching for a good hotel with a good location for the right price can be hard. However after many hours, actually days searching online I found Promtsuk Buri when narrowing our list of accommodation. The main reasons why we chose was because:
- we wanted to experience an open-air shower/bathroom
- have breakfast including in room-rate
- the location on a beach and close to some lively areas more are of the island
- website, reviews looks good and the price seem to be on par with the offerings
We decided to split our week on Koh Samui staying first at Promtsuk Buri and at another hotel more isolated on the island. Little did we know, this hotel will be in our memories forever.

After coming from Bangkok with the NOKair combi ticket, arriving by ferry (Lomprayah) we were obligated to take the taxi. Of course we already knew, that is quite a distance from the pier to the hotel and the minute you get off. You’ll be asked by many taxi drivers to hop on their cab. Almost grabbing your luggage’s in order for you to follow. Since they hold a fix rate card in their hand
( overpriced!) Negotiating is out of your option. However we already expected this so the damage or the odd feeling of getting ripped off with the price, wasn’t a dent in our start of our Thai Koh Samui adventure. Beside we didn’t want to get a songthaew with our luggage’s and you may probably not sa ve that much either as songthaew driver’s will always try to get the most out of you too! (Not all the time though, but more will follow on this)
We bite the bullet took the taxi and payed the only and most expensive taxi rate during our entire time in Thailand. The journey takes about 30 to 40 min and you really get to see a lot of the island and its interesting traffic.

Arrival:
Once we arrived we had to wait inside for a while, since the owner/reception was busy. However our request for some water was granted by a friendly staff with limitation on her English. No complaints though since it was an a/c area and they provided a computer with free internet. Also lots of brochure so we used the waiting time going through excursions and let everyone know how much warm it was there;-) (mind you it was freezing in Europe)

Room:
After we got checked in, our jaw dropped when taken to our room. The location of our bungalow was perfect. Lovely views from our own veranda, spacious bedroom with a KING size bed. It’s been a while since I’ve been on one when staying abroad. Usually only in United States or the Resorts in the Caribbean.
Great working a/c and our personal favorite: The open-air shower. Spacious, breeze, just magnificent. We couldn’t believe it. After we sank in, we went to check out the area and beach and knew that it’s going to be a wonderful start of our vacation. Even it would rain the entire time or staff/breakfast was lousy. But Promtsuki didn’t deliver neither. Just pure island love and hospitality.
Good pressure, lovely rain shower. Be aware that if you find it odd doing your business in an open
air toilet;-) or shower, this hotel/pension is not for you! You can check in next door where it is more a hotel/resort style. The room was always clean, fresh and just amazing that you can hear and feel the breeze while showering. Listening or seeing the birds flying around. We loved the fact that it wasn’t a big scale resort and you get to start knowing other guests too.
The hammock is lovely during dawn or dusk or just when want to stare at the starts at night! The hotel doesn’t have a pool and happy that it doesn’t the beach is only few meters away!
Let our pictures speak for themselves!

The beach:
While it’s a small soft white(ish) sandy beach perfect to lay to work on the tan and the color of water is lovely. I found it less fascinating when swimming since it is full of rocks. So a water shoe is a must. The beach can get full but not packed compared to Chaweng Beach( also a nice beach and close by) However most are day sun bidders and will go after getting to red;-)
No beach vendors trying to sell you anything and found one of the cheapest beach massage look for the sign and do tip if you are satisfied)

Restaurant/on –sight dining:
Since we were tired after the long trip and missed the breakfast we decided to dine at the restaurant of the hotel. At first we couldn’t believe how good priced it was. Especially compared to the other isolated we will stay after this, where the price was twice as high!
The hotel cooks its own food fresh and it served with a smile or laid back relax owner. (Sorry to forgot all your names) And when the next day we got breakfast, we were sold! You can choose as many times you like, from healthy to unhealthy options. Always until the lunch time. And I have a fast metabolism! The restaurant does close at 5pm, however the restaurant next door also serves delicious plates but a bit more expensive. But you can’t go wrong.

There are so many restaurant and to fit any budget. In walking distance you’ll find plenty on foot when heading towards Lamai.

The staff is wonderful even if they had a bad start of the day, they’ll eventually cool down and show their friendly side again. From experience if you treat others as one of your own they’ll treat the same back. However every once a while you’ll need to be assertive when you had enough, with hagglers, sellers etcetera. We didn’t mind getting approach so many times to enter a shop. Be polite but assertive always worked for us. Be advised!

Transportation:
If you are not going to hire a motor/scooter. Be ready to spend a lot of money on songthaew or taxi. While you’ll get the hang of negotiating. It will in the end cost you. Especially at night. However the clubbing/main area of Lamai or Chaweng are close by. Fare will always vary! We walked one day from Buri to Chaweng while it gave us a kick of adventure (we both are young and in shape) It is a quite a distance in the hot sun, crazy traffic as you on the road. There is no pedestrian walkway. Even some locals though we were crazy to do that. Of course we took the songthaew back. Most of the drivers know where it is! But since a two days of taxi’s and songthaew we decided to rent a motor/scooter and was the best time ever. We explore almost the entire island by motor. Stopping and some secluded beaches. Did our own tours/exercusion and dine at many different local restaurant where not much tourist comes! Truly Samui style adventure.
Be advise that if you haven’t ride one yet or not experienced with crazy traffic it might get the best out of you. But never doubt your driving skills. (we both own a motor/scooter back home in Holland the land of bicycles so it was for us piece of cake)

If needing to stock up (and do not want to buy from the almost every mile a minimarket) and also have dirt cheap lunch/dinner. Hop on a songthaew/taxi/scooter and head to Tesco Lotus (the only one on the island) (for Americans it’s exactly like a Wallmart or K-mart) where you can buy anything you need and also have delicious cheap lunch or dinner. The food court works with a credit system. You buy a certain amount in Baht and after your done paying everything by swiping the card they give you, you’ll get the amount back. Also tourist can get the VAT tax return after doing shopping. Look for the sign at the customer service.

Promtsuki Buri motto is for those who wants privacy…and it truly gives you that. IT’s a small resorts with the laid back, relax feeling. Gorgeous grounds, lovely cabins, amazing staff and wonderful beach. Keep up with the wonderful service and all the best!

We were there february 2011, but really forget to write a review until now, but they really deserve it...Simply perfect, the bungalow was big, clean, and the open air shower was amazing.....the delicious breakfast was served on the beach restaurant, we had tasty banana pancakes, porridge or cereals with fruits and cashews, toasted bread, fresh fruit....everything was really good...the bay itself is amazing and scenic, the water is mostly clear and calm, we rented also the motorbike with them at a very good price, because this place is between Lamai and Chaweng, so unless you always take a songthaews, you need a motorbike to move from there and go to eat for dinner..but this it's actually also one of the reasons it's so good, because it's not overcrowded because it's not in the middle of the confusion of Lamai or Chaweng...the guys that own the Promtsuk were also very nice, so we really can't nothing else than raccomend it to everybody!!

My wife and I stayed here for 10 nights in January 2012. We booked after seeing all the positive reviews on Tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. We arrived early approx 10am but the staff had our room ready by 11am which we didnt expect. Bungalows are fab with free wifi, an outdoor shower and outdoor seating area. Very clean with fridge and almost silent air conditioning. Gardens are lush and spotless. And as for the beach - it was only meters away from our accommodation and was clean, sandy, safe and totally uncrowded. It is shared amongst just 4 hotels.
Staff are very friendly and obliging and food at the beach bar was good.
I can totally recommend this for anybody just looking to get away from it all. The only thing it doesnt have is a pool. However with the beach on your doorstep, it doesnt need a pool.
Only downside is that the beach bar closes at 5pm so you need to go elsewhere for dinner. The Ban Lamai Restaurant (1 minute walk towards Lamai) is excellent for traditional Thai dishes.
Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a sea view.
