“Staying here now, review as we go!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014 via mobile

Well 4 days in and I will say the rooms are nice clean and roomy, in a spa villa and our bed is massive. Really friendly staff and quick service down at the coral bar near beach.
Nice touch with the buffet full English breakfast. And room service is pretty good to but could do with being to later as there is nothing nearby so people go back to their room earlier than normal.
Although it's mainly Brits here there is sadly only one yes one tv channel and that's the bbc world news, it's nice to watch something when you get in, maybe a discovery channel or something.
Room mini bar.. Be warned they do not restock everyday so could get charged for drinks you've not even had, I mark it all down on their list thing but with it not being checked each day we might end up getting over charged at the end.
Will add more in a day or so!

This is our second visit to Centara Villas with our daughter and her boyfriend but this time, our daughter's boyfriend's parents wanted to come and see what all the fuss was about with Thailand and this hotel. We went B & B, had 3 Garden Villas and they were perfect and the hotel facilities are absolutely amazing. There are 3 beautiful swimming pools and you also have the beautiful beach with kayaks and other beach sports if you want. The breakfast choice is enormous and also the evening meals and snack menus. What is so nice with this hotel, is that you are not "fighting" to get at the meals or facilities as, although there are guests there, it always seems so quiet and tranquil during the day but you do get to see everyone during the lovely evenings with live (duo) entertainment. The staff are so friendly and always have time to stop and chat and they really go out of their way to make your stay a truly enjoyable one. We did also enjoy the cocktail party, arranged by the hotel as a way of getting to meet the staff and chat; excellent idea. The hotel is in a quiet part of the island and there are one or two nice local restaurants and the hotel evening meals are also excellent but if you want, you can get the hotel shuttle bus out to the nearby towns of Lamai and Chaweng. If you are looking for a truly relaxing holiday then I can honestly recommend this hotel and everything that comes with it.

Room Tip: We had Garden Villas but you can get villas with your own small pool or hot tub; have a look at thei...

Dear Kunzel40,
Thank you for coming to visit us a second time, we are delighted that you enjoyed your second visit. The three pools and abundant number of sunbeds mean that it never feels too busy, the extended breakfast period and new long evening happy hour help to add to the relaxing feeling which make it seem as if the hotel is not busy even when we are full. The weekly GM cocktails have continued to be a success and it is good that you got to enjoy them.
We hope to see you come back soon for a third visit and hopefully even more family and friends.

Stayed here on our honeymoon in august 2013 after a hectic 4 days in Bangkok....

Upgraded to a deluxe spa villa, which was stunning! Beautiful terrace and the private jacuzzi was lovely....

A lot of steps to reception and bar areas but it added to the feel of the resort - personally we loved everything!

Happy hour in the bars is fantastic and the food in the restaurant was outstanding! Seafood by weight night was unreal!

We went out to the cool bar and to the fishermans outlet on a couple of evenings but to be honest we wanted to relax and found the hotel more chilled out!

Overall fantastic, and we would not hesitate to return to this resort!

We spent 11 nights at centara villas and feel thoroughly depressed after being home a week! The villas are lovely and it's great not to be in a traditional hotel. Loved the spa on our balcony. Number 127. Eating breakfast by the beach was absolute heaven and the staff and food at all meal times were both superb. Tukta (not sure if that's how it's spelt sorry) one of the waitresses was such a lovely girl who spoke amazing English and had a great sense of humour. Cat on reception and the lady who checked us in and out were lovely and golf in the bar was brilliant. Definitely do the baht bonanza, it's well worth it and the whole stay was so reasonable, especially with the generous happy hours and free daily cocktails if you book a spa or pool villa. Great food at fisherman's outlet down the road. Also great to have free kayaks and the gym was fine to counteract all the food and drink! Shuttle bus to lamai and chaweng was cheap and we made good use of it. We loved everything about our holiday and would love to come back. If you've never been to Thailand don't take many clothes though! Humidity is mental! If you do go here, give Rosie the dog a stroke from us! Thank you to everyone at centara!

My second time here. A top hotel, lovely staff, clean, quiet, adequate breakfast and peaceful location. Hotel food is very good and fairly priced although plenty of nice restaurants in chaweng and koh samui. A few problems but hotel staff sorted the asap so not a problem. Whoever visits centara save a few sausages for rosie the stray dog who joins you for breakfast.

We stayed at Centara Villas in July 2013 and should have reviewed this hotel a lot earlier than I am now doing.
This is a fantastic hotel located out of the way but yet close enough to everywhere. We hired a Poll villa with Ocean View and absolutely loved it and I would recommend this option over a Garden Villa. It's great to be able to have and enjoy the privacy of your own pool. The villa itself was a little small for the 3 of staying. My son was on a 'Put me Up' type bed but in all fairness we didn't spend enough time inside the villa to really worry about it. They could probably do with have more family villas. Apparently there was none available when we arrived even though I had requested one. Anyway, that did not impact on our fab holiday.
We took up the option of the Baht Bonanza which is a great idea bearing in mind where the hotel is situated. We used the credit mainly for drinks during our stay and a couple of meal because most evenings we ate at the Fishermans Outlet Restaurant which is located just down the hill on the left hand side. There you will find the cutest little restaurant with amazing staff and equally amazing food.
The hotel has great pools located around the resort and it is directly on the beach as well. The beach is pretty small but if you are like us and get out and about when you are on holiday you do not have to travel far to get better beaches.
As a lot of other reviewers have said, there are a lot of steps from reception down the the restaurant/breakfast area and to most of the villas so this might not be a good place for people with any mobility issues. We personally loved all the steps, it helped keep us fit whilst on holiday :-)
We hired a couple of scooters from the hotel which were really cheap and in good condition. We travelled all over Samui on them, it was a great way to see the island.
We hired a car from the guys linked to the Fishermans Outlet. They have an office next door. Again great price for 24hr hire and in good condition.
The famous Cool Bar on the beach is just a short stroll away and definitely worth a visit. It gets more lively as the evening goes on.
The staff at Centara Villas for the most part were excellent, especially in the bars and restaurant. The reception staff sometimes struggle with understanding what was asked of them but that's not their fault. They try very hard with their English so it wasn't a problem for us. Some people were quite rude about it but at the end of the day, we're not speaking their language, we're expecting them to speak ours which is pretty unfair to then be rude to them. I have been to Thailand again this year but to Phuket and the surrounding islands and tried to pick up some more basic Thai language because next year we are back in Koh Samui for our wedding. It would be great to pop along to the Centara Villas to have a drink and show some of our guests coming to our wedding from the UK the facilities you have there as they may end up as future guests of yours??????
Thanks for a great holiday on Koh Samui last year Centatra and sorry for taking so long in writing your review.

Room Tip: Ocean View Pool Villa would be my recommendation although all villas are beautiful.

Dear BexieB,
Fantastic to hear we are still on your mind a year later and hopefully we will see you again soon. The baht bonanza is still running and has just increased, invest 10,000THB and get 5000THB free spending. Language training and language skills are part of our ongoing training and we will continue to move forward in this and all areas.
Congratulations on the wedding plans, we hope all goes well.

We are not long back from staying here for 11 nights. upon arrival WOW. You drive through the "towns" and it looks very dingy then you arrive here , it is an amazing place to stay couple with its amazing staff who could not be praised highly enough. Golf is the man he was great and very helpful. We stayed in one of the bigger villas with the pools and its worth every penny, great to have your own pool within jumping distance from your bed as because its very hot spending time in the pool is a must. The rooms are very clean and get cleaned twice a day. Its a very quiet hotel with not alot near by but the food in the hotel is amazing (we only ate somewhere else twice).Lots too choose from aswell as your themed dinners. Be kind and tip well and you will get the rewards back as happy hour the english appear and thats when the bar is at its busiest as they dont seem to like to drink at full price times so you dont see many then, so if you have tipped well you will get served quicker. couldnt say enough good things about this hotel at all. We loved staying here. the shuttle buses could run more frequent going to the towns and maybe a late night bus coming back for people who do want to experience a bit of the nightlife as 11pm is the last one so you feel like your missing out but taxis are cheap enough anyway but you dont want to be spending 500 bhat to get home each time you want to stay out by 11pm. The bar at the top was a good place to sit as its up high you do get a good view. highly recommend saying here.

Dear Allan L,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review, your kind comments regarding the staff and hotel have been passed on. We are delighted that you made the most of your stay enjoying the food, taking advantage of your pool using the happy hours.
Total paradise is a lovely title to the review and we thank you for that, we are very proud of our location in this quieter corner of Samui and as you rightly pointed out the shuttle service to Lamai is there five times a day and is a very affordable way to travel around the Island.
I am glad you mentioned the Happy hour because we have just extended it, previously it was for only 1 hour but now it is for 3. We have a selected list of drinks to choose from that should keep all nationalities happy and will allow you more time to enjoy their company at the bar.
Regards
