We asked our hotel to recommend a local authentic Thai restaurant to us and on arrival we didn't like what we saw (opposite strip joint), therefore, we decided to take a chance and go the Banyan Tree resort and ask to dine in their restaurant. We knew there was a nice restaurant there as it was advertised in the magazine on the plane over from Bangkok.
Anyway, it was a truly beautiful setting and the Banyan Tree resort itself is incredible, and upon arrival the reception called a golf buggy to drive us up to the restaurant. We then took a 3 minute buggy ride to the restaurant up a hill via the windy little paths and arrived at the cliff top setting. It was dark so we couldn't see down the cliff but you still got the sense of the scale and positioning.
We we seated outside on the balcony and from then on the whole experience was magical. The food was beautiful and they served little extras which we didn't expect in between courses and also as an appetiser. We ordered cocktails to start with and a bottle of wine, and although not cheap they were also not as expensive as you might expect from a high class resort. The wine was around £40 and the cocktails around £6 each, however, the food was not that expensive and we ordered 2 starters and 2 main courses which came with a choice of rice, and the whole meal came to around £120. I know that's expensive overall but it was a wonderful eating experience and occasion to remember.
We then took a golf buggy back to reception and then ordered our taxi back to our resort. Fabulous!
