“Very nice but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

Very nice hotel but food is extremely expensive. Very good we may add but very expensive. Breakfast buffet is $29 per person if you want to have eggs, a la carte is also very expensive. Dinners without drinks go for $50-70 per person. We spent a fortune but we did not mind as the quality of food was very good as so was the service. The pool restaurant was not very good at lunch so I would suggest having a good breakfast and dinner but not lunch

The room we had was nice on the 7th floor but it was very stinky. It smelled musty and that really bugged us. The bed was super comfortable and there is a full range of different pillows. House keeping was very efficient and the room as well as the hotel was very clean. spotless

We went to see the luau at their sister hotel and we loved the show but not the buffet.

If you want to go somewhere you will need a car, rent it from the concierge rather than the front desk it is cheaper. Even better if you rent it from home.

For the cost of the hotel we would have expected a shuttle service from the airport to the hotel, and at least one every couple of days to get to the nearby stores at the king's shop centre like any other hotels in the same rank

The ocean view room is worth the extra $ we felt.

The service was good all around but the front desk people were the least friendly but still professional and helpful.

We will go back as the beach is amazing. IF you like swimming and sunbathing it is the place to go. If you want night life and entertainment go to Kona.

Thank you for visiting and for sharing your remarks. As an island state, we too appreciate that everything here in general is much more expensive than many are accustomed to. That said, we enjoy hearing that you enjoyed the food and our resort. We will look into your comment regarding the room and in the meantime, we hope you'll return again one day soon. Mahalo.

We stayed here for a couple of days before our Hawaiian cruise with Un-Cruise Adventures. Everything was top notch, breakfast was enjoyable, the grounds made you want to walk them, and watching the whale breaching from our balcony.

Aloha and thank you for choosing to stay with us before your cruise. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit...and that you got to see some of Hawaii's winter visitors, the humpback whales! Do return again soon. Mahalo.

I went here on an incentive trip for 6 nights that I earned through my company with a large group (about 250 of us). They were very accommodating to our group.

First of all the hotel is rather secluded, but it is beautiful. The grounds are nicely landscaped and taken care of. I love the plumeria trees, stop and pick up some wonderful smelling plumerias for your hair when you stay.

If you don't like to walk much, you might want to ask for a room near the lobby. We love to walk so it wasn't a big deal to us that our room was on the very end of the building. We liked that it was away from the hustle and bustle.

The room was nice, we had a king room and enjoyed the double sinks, something you don't always see in hotel bathrooms. The bathroom was spacious with a separate tub and shower. We enjoyed the double closets and the balcony was nice with an ocean view. Housekeeping was very nice and did a great job.

My only beef with the hotel is that there aren't many dining options, and what they do have is pricey. Breakfast was included with our stay and it was very good. I enjoyed the omelette station where you pick what you want and they make it for you. They also had a good selection of fresh fruit and all of the standard breakfast items. I personally wouldn't pay $30 a person for breakfast, but since it was included, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

They do have a shuttle that runs to their sister resort, Mauna Kea, where you can dine and use their beach and facilities if you wish. We went to a luau there one night and it was excellent.

I would highly recommend renting a car when visiting this hotel since it is pretty far away from everything. Plus there is so much to see on the island besides the resort.

We had a lovely farewell dinner in the courtyard of the hotel and the food was good and the staff very accommodating. They also have a large ballroom that we had a short meeting in.

The price of the resort stay was rather pricey, but since I wasn't paying for it, I didn't mind. Overall great stay and would recommend it if you can find a great deal on it.

Typical all-inclusive option resort. The location and views make it exceptional. The food options are limited to what is on site (and are expensive) and close early. The ocean room view and central lobby views are spectacular.

Loved how all the dining with open to the view of pool or beach. Main dining restaurant was excellent but plan on spending $100 for dinner for two with 2 glasses of wine. The french fries were some of the best I've ever had!

Loved the nooks on every floor where two could sit privately in comfortable chairs in the shade but looking at the fabulous view of the beach and resort. We got delicious sandwiches at the Cafe Hapuna store and sat in one of these area for a quiet lunch. We did luck out as there were no conferences going on at the time we visited.

Room Tip: The partial view room was perfect- for the price. Ask for the seventh floor (5th floor is ground lev...

i live on the east side of the big island so take short trips to the other side for some white sand, sun and foo foo time at a nice hotel.
the hapuna prince was where my mother, brother and his family wanted to stay due to the beautiful white sand beach so we all gave it a try. i usually stay in down town kona.
this hotel was much more then i had expected with large spacious rooms and huge bathrooms, robes in the closets for you....a wonderful fitness room on a lush beautiful golfcourse. the pool was wonderful and the beach one of the best in the world. the food, although expensive....was awesome with huge portions and the drinks poolside cant be beat.
we all had a fantastic time and will return
