“great view shame about the service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2009

Hotel was clean and basic, location was good. Owners were not friendly and need to do a basic course in customer service which was the poorest I have come across in 35 years of travelling in most parts of the world. Breakfast was the same everday of our
1-week stay. I know the French do not welcome the English but this was ridiculous!!

Made to feel unwelcome by the owner. Had cause to complain to the rep as the pool didn't open until late afternoon for the first 5 days of our holiday! This situation only changed after he'd complained twice! It seemed to us, and other guests, tthat they didn't want it to be used - and was only there as a beautiful water feature!! You couldn't use suntan cream, no shoes/flipflops in the pool area, no food/driink/parasols and the sunbeds were screwed down!! Having complained on the 2nd day about the pool, the next day we were completely snubbed at breakfast by the owner and had to wait while she served 2 other families before us even thought they came in later than us. From then on, the coffee/hot chocolate was always barely warm. Having said that the room was basic but spotlessly cleaned each day by the lovely maid and clean towels were provided daily.

We spent a quiet, relaxing and hot week at the Stella Marina. The rooms are in a separate building from the restaurant/bar, slightly elevated and giving gorgeous views of the marina, the bay and the mountains (at least from the 1st floor rooms). Rooms are basic and scrupulously clean. No frills (air-con would have been good) but comfortable with plenty hot/cold water in powerful shower. Several restaurants within walking distance - try them all - you're sure to find something you like. Breakfast each morning is typical rural france - bread, butter, jam, juice, coffee, croissant - a perfect start to every gloriously sunny day and taken on a balcony overlooking the sea. Other meals not quite so delicious and staff have the genuine Corsican charm - ie laughably indifferent but perfectly polite and friendly. However, we didn't need any encouragement to enjoy the super little infinity pool, the views or the surrounding area. A week is probably enough unless you enjoy boating but for simple de-stressing it was hard to beat.

Spacious room with large balcony. Filthy pillows although the pillow cases were clean. Bathroom large with plenty of hot water and clean towels daily, but there was mould in the shower and some chipped tiles. The accommodation is slightly tatty.
Food is poor. Tiny portions of mediocre quality and overpriced. Unimaginative breakfast accompanied by a small jug of lukewarm coffee/chocolate!
The staff are pleasant with the exception of the patronne who doesn't appear to give a damn about her guests comfort and enjoyment.
Galeria is quiet and isolated with a stony beach. Don't go there for a beach holiday, but I believe the diving is good.
