small and personal. Very friendly people. Room was nicely decorated (though a bit old fashioned, but that is OK, it is the style of the hotel) and the bed was good. The bathroom was very nice and special: the tub was in the middle of the bath room. Beautiful. Breakfast was served at the table. Lots of choice and people take care of you. I really enjoyed my stay there.

Decided to use this hotel and the town of Gorssel as a base for three days on our trip through the Netherlands....great find for us. Easy to find the hotel in a charming area of beautiful farms, little villages and towns such as Zutphen and Devanter...Gorssel is small and very pretty with little shops and little traffic....We loved the hotel's location close to Palais Het Loo, the Open Lucht Museum, and Arnhem. Nice to travel all over and then come back to a pretty hotel with terrific service. I booked the Prestige Deluxe Room and was pleased at it's pretty decor, very warm feeling, nicely decorated with pics and flower arrangements (maybe remove one or two for more space)....and very, very clean too. Both hubby and I found the bathroom toilet situation disturbing since you really do need privacy and no door, especially when using the facilities is way too open for even this couple who have been married for a long time. Never used the bath since it was too hard to get in and out for us so the shower was very nice....water pressure terrific....We ate all our meals here except for dinner the last night since we wanted to try someplace else and what a mistake that was....every meal was fantastic. Our breakfasts were huge with cheese, meat, fruit, yoghurt, breads that were soooo good and we were always asked if we wanted a cooked egg which my hubby especially enjoyed...the service from the wait staff was always exceptional, especially enjoyed talking with Ric about life in the Netherlands as compared to the USA...anyway, our dinners were superb. The menu was varied with many choices of meat, fish, traditional Dutch dishes and we enjoyed every one. When we returned from our day trips, it was a pleasure to come back to this wonderfully run hotel and enjoy a drink in the sun outside. The staff should be commended for their attention to their guests....I highly reommend this hotel to anybody visiting in this beautiful area....

Room Tip: Prestige Deluxe Room was tip top....wish it was warmer to enjoy the little patio outside the bedroom...

Like coming home...but that is a bit cheating because it almost is home. Coming from the Gorssel community (but now living in Uganda) it is one of the "we always have go there - places" when I am back home. The food....really good but also a bit expensive. Try to get a table in the glasshouse! The rooms...I dont know so I only review the restaurant and of course the terrace....Wonderful! Different set ups, lounging or dining. When good wheather, it is always busy. Gorssel offers som nice festivals and especially on those days, The Roskam is THE place to be. And now I read that even next door they are getting a museum for contemporary art. Looks like I need to go back home soon!

My wife and I stayed at Hotel de Roskam in Gorssel for our third anniversary. And it sure was a treat. To start, Gorssel is a nice little village in the middle of beautiful nature and even though we were not there for cycling, I think the surrounding area must be perfect for a nice tour. Hotel de Roskam allready looked nice from the pictures of the rooms on internet. It did not disappoint. We stayed in room 6 with a big balcony, nice sleeping room and a very traditional but trendy bathroom. We had both dinner and breakfast there and both are 4/5. And it just feels strange that you don't have a door to your toilet in your room, it is not very recommendable. Hotel de Roskam is not a cheap hotel, but it is a perfect stay-over when you are in this part of the Netherlands. Please check out my pictures and judge for yourself.

Room Tip: Room 6 worked perfectly for us

We stayed 2 nights at this little, lovely hotel. The location of the hotel is central and very easy to find by car.The interieur of the hotel is very well done and stylish, every room has its own design. We found the kitchen better than in an average hotel in the Netherlands with a helpful and friendly staff.
It can be a good choice when visiting the Netherlands by car although its room prices do not reflect the small town location and we learned that sometimes advanced booking can be required.
