I was visiting Kimberly South Africa for some work this past October and instead of making the long drive all the way up to Kgalagadi (as I did last year), I decided on somewhere a little closer to where I was starting and picked Witsand.
I'm mostly into photography and was hoping for much warmer temperatures so that I could find some snakes and other reptiles to shoot photos of while there. Unfortunately, it was pretty chilly in the days leading up so I didn't find what I was looking for.
They did have plenty of game to see. Springbok and Gemsbok were very plentiful as well as Vervet Monkeys which cruised through our patio while we were eating lunch one day.
The Chalets are very nice. Super roomy with all the ammenities you need (fridge, stove/hot plate, pots and pans).
We did do one organized hike with Richard but you're free to explore all you want into the dunes yourself. The dunes are a great place to get out and hike.
