“Spa day and Afternoon tea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

My mum and I had a lovely spa day here. I had a lovely facial and my mum had a massage followed by a day in the spa, and afternoon tea! The afternoon tea was delicious. I really recommend it! It was a lovely unwinding treat before I started university.

My husband and I went to Hanbury Manor for afternoon tea and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere was great and very cosy sitting in the oak hall with an open fire burning and a harpist playing. The sandwiches, scones and pasties were tasty and when asking for it we got a second plate of sandwiches without extra charge. I can thoroughly recommend this experience for a special occasion.

I booked two nights at this hotel for my boyfriend's birthday and we had a fantastic stay. Grounds were beautiful, staff were extremely friendly and could not do enough for us! The spa area and pool was a relaxing place to be and we found ourselves sitting reading papers and having a leisurely coffee there whilst watching the world go by. The food in the Oakes Grill for both breakfast and dinner was fantastic, as was the service. I had a discrepancy with the final bill at checkout but this was rectified with no fuss. Room was spacious and we had a fabulous view of the grounds from our room. Overall we had a very relaxing weekend and I have no complaints about the hotel whatsoever, would definitely recommend as a romantic retreat for other couples. As an aside, there is a fabulous Indian restaurant just down the road called the Raj Villa, my boyfriend went as far as saying its the best Indian he has ever had!!!!!

country side retreat. stayed at the place while coming back from cambridge, has old vintage charm with views over golf course. Has excellent spa packages, indoor heated swimming pool and some of the rooms have standalone bath tub which can rarely be seen in modern 5 star luxury hotels

A party of 4 stayed at the Hanbury Hotel in Ware this weekend. We arrived at this imposing property, beautiful gardens, golf course, jogging trail and a marvelllous reception in its original nuilding style, some time in the late 18th century. The reception was good and friendly. We were brought to our room, that was not in the main buildimg but some 200 metres or so away. We were taken by a buggy, although the walk was not that long. We were just left at the door and found our way to the room. It looked a bit like the shining due to the many corridors all separated by a glass door, fire door. The room was lovely, nice size and well apppointed. The bed however was a bit soft, mattrass felt like it had been over used in some parts.
Bathrrom was fine.
Internet was available at a fee per hour or day but was pricey.
We went o have a bite to eat. The main breakfast and lunch restaurant was not in the main building and you had to walk thorugh corridors, and going up or down the stairs to arrive at a restaurant which was a bit lacking in atmosphere. There were a few birthday or special celebrations going on, so part was a bit noisy.
Service was good but the meal was expensive and not that special..The same for breakfast, there was a queue at the buffet, for the English breakfast or cooking station, it was like being at some store- not fun.
Clientele is nice though, families from professionals, upper middel class.
On the way out of the restaurant we took another route and crossed the health and spa.
This was really poorly designed as when you go to the spa you wantg some relaxationa and privacy, you dont expect people passing by all dressed up. The same for other guests going back to their room, having to cross teh spa.
Overall besides the reception and the beautoful gardens, I didnt find anything special to this place.

We stayed only one night at this hotel but it was a great stay. We had a suite which was a great space. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was very clean and spacious. The staff were friendly. Breakfast had a wide range, from pastries, fruit, freshly prepared omelettes and other cooked breakfast items.I never used the pool or sauna but my partner used the gym early morning which he said had a good range of equipment. The hotel for us was a good weekend away in a lovely setting (beautiful grounds). Although slightly expensive we will return again one day.

Beautiful building with a wide selection of rooms that you can be apart from the crowds if need be. We had a lovely lunch in the Oakes grill room, every dish cooked to perfection! The grounds are wonderful to walk around in, it had snowed and we still managed to venture around.
The spa area pool was a bit busy during the day with children jumping and splashing a bit of monitoring would make it a much more pleasant area. The afternoon tea cakes were delicious and to rival any 5* establishment. Overall a fabulous weekend!
