“COLD FREEZing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Don't forget to wear your coat here, the temperature is so low. The scenery on the way to Kawah Putih is beautiful, so don't sleep while on the way hahaha.. What I don;t like here is, the entrance fee is so expensive. For one car it cost Rp200.000,- do not care how many persons are in the car, especially if you're couple, maybe you will be so shocked with the price hahaa. But it's really worth the price.

“Mystical”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

We came to Kawah Putih last January.
It's a beautiful place. Peacefull & calm. And I felt a bit mystical?
We were right in the bank of the crater. Some couples made prewedding pictures. The surrounding area were clean enough.

“Avoidable visit”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Volcano does not have any interesting atraction
Smell is terrible to sulfuro
Roud to arrive from Bandung is very bad, and the travel can take several hours in the weekend
Tea fields around the volcano are more interesting that volcano itself
In general, there is not any interesting thing to see to compensate a long travel

“Beautiful view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Beautiful greenish lake - a view that is unforgettable! There was no sulphur smell when we went. The view was stunning though it was quite a small area.

Disliked that we were not given much options to go up. We could either pay much more for our driver to drive up or wait for other visitors and used their mini bus up. As there were no other visitors around, the drivers said we had to pay for the entire busload. Anyway it's 250,000Rp up for the vehicle and another amount for the entrance fee for each person (exclude driver)

“Well worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We went on a Sunday in Ramadan and so avoided the crowds. It was well worth it. Apparently on any other day outside Ramadan there are hoards of crowds and lots of tour buses. On Google Earth this looks like a crater lake formed after the Mount Patuha blew a piece out of it side. There is another crater to the North and higher up, but it is dry. The water is an appealing milky blue, but apparently so acidic it will burn skin, and there is so much sulphur in the lake it washes on the shoreline where you can pick it up by the handful.

There is water at the end of the lake so hot that it is steam and this gives its name "Kawah Putih" meaning in English "The White Creature". I have this on authority from an Indonesia speaking friend who went with us so ignore other translations.

About 150,000 rupiah for a Toyota with 3 adults to up to the crater and park.
