Situated on a long sandy beach east of the town of Rayong on the south coast of Thailand, this hotel stands out because there are only a few buildings of more than one storey on the whole beach. On arrival, the reception staff did not seem over friendly, and charged us 200 THB deposit for the key. Our booking was for a deluxe seaview room, but as the standard of the hotel is really only two star, deluxe was not really an option. We were given a room on the eighth floor which was quite large and had a sea view, as the sea is only just across the road from the hotel. The hotel also has its own pool. In our room, very strangely, the outer covering of the mattresses was plastic and it looked as if it had been manufactured like that. Equally strangely, the mattress manufacturer had attached a large label which quoted Shakespeare extolling the virtues of a good night sleep. The hotel provided only a thin sheet over it, so it was not very comfortable and did not give a good night's sleep, as the plastic causes you to sweat.
The sixties burgundy coloured bathroom suite included the provision of a urinal, which was strange in an already small bathroom. The sink had no hot water tap, and no gels or hair dryer was provided. The obnoxious and strong smell from the shower drain permeated the whole room
Breakfast was a basic menu, but freshly cooked and tasty, and the coffee was palatable for a change.
The hotel only just manages to justify even the low price paid, and the area might be difficult for transport if you do not have a car. We did not try the evening meal in the hotel, and as there are only a few other restaurants to eat at along the whole beach, choice was limited.
