My husband and I have recenty spent a relaxing Weekend Break in the Kempinski Hotel at San Lawrenz, Gozo (part of the Maltese Islands). We arrived on Friday and after we were shown our room, we immediately went for a swim in one of the pools at the hotel. The atmosphere is so quiet and refreshing, we spent quite a long time there. When we finally went back to our room, we appreciated the cleanliness, the huge double bed and the fantastic view. Our balcony overlooked the family pool and we also had a good country view. There are 3 pools in this hotel, one of them being a family pool, where parents with young children could enjoy safely. The other 2 pools were for the adults. There is also an indoor pool where one can enjoy a jacuzzi and also a waterfall which we really enjoyed. There is also a fully equipped gym and of course the massage parlour offering different types of massages. Of course, my husband and I had a very relaxing massage and it was a nice experience. All the staff, including the waiters, chambermaids, reception, etc are extremely polite at all times. This hotel offers luxury and relaxation.
For breakfast there was a good selection of food and sometimes the waiters also suprised us with a freshly made watermelon juice or other fruit juices. These complimentary drinks, such as iced tea, etc were also offered to us while we were sunbathing near the pool.
There is also a wine bar and upon arriving, we were offered 2 free tickets for complimentary wine. The first evening, we had dinner at one of the restaurants. The food was good but very scarce and the price was extremely expensive. Therefore for the rest of our stay, we just went to Marsalforn where there is a wide selection of restaurants with abundant food at half the price.
I believe that the hotel offers a bus service but I am not sure what the timetable is because we did not use them since we had our own car. However, one can check the public transport which is really cheap.
When I woke up each morning and stayed reading a book in the balcony, enjoying the view and listening to the chirping of the birds, while the workmen prepared the pool area, was absolute bliss. Most of the day, we spent near the pools which are well equipped with sunbeds, bars, towels, etc. When we were leaving on Sunday, we just packed up our belongings in the car, gave back the key at the reception and went back to spend the rest of the day near the pools, with the kind concession of the receptionist.
This was one wonderful, relaxing weekend which I would recommend to a friend.
we had a room on the top floor overlooking the family pool, so we could enjoy all that was going on...
