Very clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Though did not appreciate being disturbed in the Reception area at 1800 hrs by the cleaner who needed us to move so he could get on with his job! Found staff did not volunteer extra info, eg. was not informed about alternative entrances to the hotel, found out from other guests. Overall food was very good but again was not told that omelettes and fried eggs were available upon request. Boiled eggs were not available. Would have liked WiFi thru out the hotel withou being charged for it then could have sat in the bar for a change instead of being forced to sit in Reception. Would have been nice if mugs as well as cups were available in the room with tea making facilities. Gym equipment broken and not maintained. Stayed over Christmas 2013, details of Christmas Eve Gala Dinner was not posted on the board till the afternoon of Christmas Eve with a start time of 1830 hours. When we went down to dinner at this time was told that the Restaurant would not open till 1900 hours. However evening was worth waiting for. Dinner on Christmas Day was disappointing, mostly cold food. All the effort had gone into a Christmas Day Luncheon, which was available at an extra charge. Would have been nice if the Luncheon had been available to all instead of a lack lustre dinner. Bar comfortable but lights never turned down so no atmosphere. Was not told that could use sister hotel facilities, eg have dinner in their restaurant, again found this out from other guests. Frank Sinatra Christmas music played constantly in Reception area, same songs on a loop! Early Christmas Day morning no water due to maintenance, good way to start the day especially after going to the gym! Overall a pleasant place to stay but make sure you talk to other guests to find out how things work.

Room Tip: If staying over Christmas ask for a room that does not overlook the Church as bells tend to keep you...

Dear Guest,

First and foremost, thank you for having opted for the Pergola Club Hotel & Spa for your Christmas break. We have read with interest your review and are in the understanding that there were aspects that have not met your expectations.

Please rest assured that we have evaluated each and every aspect and wish to publicly apologise for the water related matter on Christmas morning. Regretfully a malfunction that occurred early in the morning had left us with no option but to action it there and then, and having to close the water supply for a brief while in a section of our property, has led to an element of inconvenience. Where Christmas dinner is concerned, in Malta, the tradition is to host a special dinner on Christmas Eve and then a special lunch on Christmas Day; the dinner on Christmas Day is not traditionally themed or otherwise.

We are pleased that albeit the less positive aspects, you still consider our hotel a pleasant place to stay at. Bearing this in mind, we very much hope you will not hesitate to stay with us again in the future and if you indeed consider so, please feel free to contact myself personally where I shall ensure your stay is as pleasant as possible.

Yours sincerely,

Elaine Cutajar Debono

Went to the Pergola Hotel in November, it was a beautiful stay from start to finish!! The check in was easy, we were there nearly three quarters of an hour before and they let us check in our room!! Rooms very clean, common areas were exceptional, all common areas sparkled and the maids and cleaners could be seen cleaning all day!!!Thumbs up for Management seeing to this, not even a speck of dust to be seen anywhere!!, Now to the restaurant, I couldn't find fault with the evening meals, and Steve and Andre, the waiters at the restaurant even though very busy found time to give us a welcoming chat and really make it a brilliant experience throughout, On Friday we had friends who joined us for a buffet meal and they also told us that they thoroughly enjoyed it, even the entertainment on Friday who was a male singer was very good!! the only fault I can think of Is that I wished that I could have access to wifi in our bedroom but all in all a 100 out of a 100 for this hotel!!!

We went for a 3 night 4 day holiday and had a great time .Hotel is clean and we only paid £40 for the 3 nights, unbelievable value. the room was clean with on-suite bathroom, a fridge, tv and tea/coffee.our room over looked the street and had no balcony, but at the price no moans from us :-)
there are 3 lifts so you can get a lift to the lower floors as the hotel is built on a slope of a hill , this saves walking up and down 109 steps outside. the staff were great , very helpful.
a bus stop just across the bridge at the bottom of the hotel , allows you to catch a bus and visit any where on the island , and as said by other posters its only 2.60 euros for the whole day and allows you to get on and off when every you like.
weather was warm 64f , seemed funny walking around in a t-shirt second week in December.
would defiantly go to this hotel again.

Room Tip: take a good pair of walking shoes and legs :-) , Malta's quit hilly

I spent 6 nights and to my surprise was given an apartment with a balcony overlooking the pool area and some beautiful views. The rooms were very clean, there were cooking and kitchen amenities and lounge area. I was in heaven even though I didn't cook. I would have loved a stove percolator!!

The buffet breakfast was excellent. Plenty of choice and fresh.

Rooms were cleaned everyday. For me I found the bed a bit too hard.

I was lucky on being given free wifi otherwise it's pretty expensive. As a solo traveller, who has been travelling for three months, and plans their next move as they go, Internet is important. As well as having contact with family and friends, banking institutions etc. However, it is free in lobby but I think it should be provide free for all spaces. It's an important travelling tool these days.

I thought the gym was a bit lacking as two of the machines were out of order.

Staff were very helpful and polite.

I got a very good deal for my stay and was very happy to have had a great space and quiet. It's in the 'village' and if your wanting beach then it's a bit of a hike. However, there's a bus stop just down from the 100 or so steps and you can get buses pretty much down to the beach really regular as well as everywhere in Malta with a couple of connections.

Meheilla is in a rural setting and off season was wonderful. There's some great walks around if your into walking.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking pool area.

This Hotel is very good, spread over 7 floors and built into the hillside, with 3 separate lifts that go to different floors, can be confusing at first but by the end of the week we got the hang of it. (Only one of the lifts was suitable for a wheelchair).
The rooms were very clean and modern, try and get a pool view or sea view if you can, the room was cleaned everyday, the towels were changed everyday, coffee and tea making facilities were replenished everyday. Although the television worked there weren't many channels to choose from, but there again who goes on holiday to watch TV.
Bathroom was clean and functional, shower was over a lowered bath, making it easy to get in and out of, although the shower water was not always a constant temperature, especially in peak times. Towels were replaced daily and there was plenty of shower gel and shampoo. Bathroom had a hairdryer and razor point.
We only used the restaurant for breakfast in which there was ample choice of continental, full English (loosely speaking) and fresh fruits, and the service was excellent. During busy periods the staff sometimes neglected to replenish the fresh orange and bread baskets etc...
Although we did not use the outside pools, they were very clean and well kept, the inside pool was lovely as was the spa, although a little small but ideal to relax in. The gym was adequate, some of the equipment was out of order and others appeared to be old equipment.
Overall the staff were very helpful and friendly and the Hotel was very clean and modern and deserves it's four star rating.
One thing to mention is the 114 steps that run down the side of the hotel outside from the reception level to the village level, but there is a lift four 5 people that covers the same.

Room Tip: If you can try and book a room with a view of one of the pools or of the coast and village. Otherwis...
