“Interesting layout with 4 pools on different levels”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Interesting layout with 4 pools on different levels following cliff contour. Adjacent Hotel beach ok but not too good for swimming. Better beach is the nearby Paradise bay beach across the bay - smallish but good swimming. Hotel handy for Gozo ferry and Blue Lagoon Comino - just across the road. Had breakfast only - considered poor. Rooms large and well serviced. Didn't use Hotel main restaurant for dinner but sometimes used additional hotel restaurant where food was too ample and indifferent. Better options are in nearby Mellieha as recommended in Lonely Planet. Il Mithna very good for instance.

Room Tip: Pick a pool view (also overlooking Paradise bay), otherwise you will be looking over the ferry termi...

If you are looking for a secluded quiet hotel and plan to spend your days sitting by the pool, this is the hotel for you. If you are younger than 60 and are looking for things to do, this is not for you. The hotel is situated in the North of the Island next to the ferry. There are no shops (or any other form of life) within walking distance and the entertainment within the hotel is Dire (Unless you happen to be French, then you have your own entertainment, and Pool!) The Airconditioning in our room was non existant, but we were told this was because "it was hot"...The room was very basic and not 4 star by any standard more a low 3 star. We spoke to other guests who told us, "the more times you come here, the better room you get!" although we paid the same price as everyone else, this seemed a tad unfair. The food was very good but this was the only saving grace for this hotel. Personally, I would recommend choosing another hotel but, if you are 60+ and French...enjoy your holiday!

the photos on website are nothing like the room we stayed in. It was dirty, the bathroom stank of urine and overall the room was very run down. The 'air conditioning' was very loud and just blew coolish air with the aid of a ceiling fan!!! We were put in a cleaner room, with slightly quieter 'air conditioning' which brought the room temperature down to 24 degs!!! This hotel is definately not worthy of 4 stars, We have stayed in far superior 3 stars!!! the furniture in the room was falling apart, the sheets didnt fit the beds. The entertainment was terrible, unless you were French, in which case you had good entertainment and a nice pool that other nationalities were not allowed to use!!! On a plus side, the food was very nice

Room Tip: We heard that if you visit paradise Bay on a regular basis you will get upgraded to a superior room...

first of all i would like to thank ???.... all of those people who had put me off going on this holiday before i even went........we returned home today from a lovely totally relaxing 10 day holiday at PBRH......it was much needed after me being VERY ill this year......our room 101 had lovely views of the bay and the swimming pool, this hotel is not for lovers of disco's and nightlife, but we just wanted a peacefull holiday and that on the whole is what we had.......not really that much entertainment for the english in the evenings but this did not really worry us.....our room was comfortable and clean and served its purpose........i just do not understand some of the nasty comments that i have read on here......if you want the ritz....pay the ritz prices.......1 thing that did niggle me was it sometimes took along time to have a waiter come to the table for our drinks order in the evenings......and how some of the other guests seemed to think their nationality were alot better than us english...oops thats 2........great hotel, fantastic weather and helpfull staff.......miss you Malta xx

We stayed for one week at this hotel in september 2012. At the northern end of Malta, the location is some distance away from main tourist places but easily accessible by the regular bus service which passes the front of the hotel and will take you all over the island ...via different routes.
Best rooms are higher up ( floors 3-4) The 'bay views' overlook paradise bay and are prettier. The 'sea views' overlook the road and the ferry terminal, interesting for people watching! The staff are friendly and the hotel is good value for the money.( Expect to pay 5* prices if you want 5* hotels!!! )
Their are no night clubs or shops nearby, but the hotel has a big shop with any bits and bobs you have forgotton or need. To be honest, after travelling and sight seeing all day, the evening meal, a quick night cap and we were ready for bed!
They have a good chioce of swimming pools (salt water) but their only piece of beach overlooks the ferry and is not that nice. Having said that, there is a good beach a short ride away, the other side of paradise bay. We opted for HB and all meals were good choice and well cooked. Do avoid peak meal times however as the usual 'free for all' is a bit of a battle!
We hired a car and, provided you are a 'bold' driver, this is the best way to see everything. Invest in a good map.( Road signs are a little confusing and Maltese drivers are just plain scary!!!)
Eating out is cheap and easy on Malta, as there are a huge choice of restaurants. Almost everyone speaks English. Even a week was not enough to see everything.
Malta is a lovely place to visit, especially if you like history.
But if you want to 'party' .....stick to the seaside towns nearer to Valletta or Benidorm!

Room Tip: Higher floors have nicer views. Bay View rooms are prettier, Sea View rooms overlook the road and fe...

Visited for a weekend break at the end of September.Had visited the same hotel 2 years ago and it was good combining the food and the room. However this time the room (328) was one of those rooms from a typical 2 star hotel.A really mess!! The old furniture and the ceiling fan with all the noises!! The 12 inch teli with the broken remote.....what a pity as the food (buffet) is good compared to the room. Have to mention as well when one of the maids or supervisor whatever, had opened the door's room without knocking or given the go ahead to enter. I was lucky that I wasnt nude !!. Will never visit this hotel now.Not a 4 star hotel. Sorry to mention all this.A pity.

Room Tip: Dont choose the old area of the hotel as it needs a refurbishment.
