“All you need to know...The location, Hotel and Malta.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We stayed for one week at this hotel in september 2012. At the northern end of Malta, the location is some distance away from main tourist places but easily accessible by the regular bus service which passes the front of the hotel and will take you all over the island ...via different routes.
Best rooms are higher up ( floors 3-4) The 'bay views' overlook paradise bay and are prettier. The 'sea views' overlook the road and the ferry terminal, interesting for people watching! The staff are friendly and the hotel is good value for the money.( Expect to pay 5* prices if you want 5* hotels!!! )
Their are no night clubs or shops nearby, but the hotel has a big shop with any bits and bobs you have forgotton or need. To be honest, after travelling and sight seeing all day, the evening meal, a quick night cap and we were ready for bed!
They have a good chioce of swimming pools (salt water) but their only piece of beach overlooks the ferry and is not that nice. Having said that, there is a good beach a short ride away, the other side of paradise bay. We opted for HB and all meals were good choice and well cooked. Do avoid peak meal times however as the usual 'free for all' is a bit of a battle!
We hired a car and, provided you are a 'bold' driver, this is the best way to see everything. Invest in a good map.( Road signs are a little confusing and Maltese drivers are just plain scary!!!)
Eating out is cheap and easy on Malta, as there are a huge choice of restaurants. Almost everyone speaks English. Even a week was not enough to see everything.
Malta is a lovely place to visit, especially if you like history.
But if you want to 'party' .....stick to the seaside towns nearer to Valletta or Benidorm!

Room Tip: Higher floors have nicer views. Bay View rooms are prettier, Sea View rooms overlook the road and fe...

Visited for a weekend break at the end of September.Had visited the same hotel 2 years ago and it was good combining the food and the room. However this time the room (328) was one of those rooms from a typical 2 star hotel.A really mess!! The old furniture and the ceiling fan with all the noises!! The 12 inch teli with the broken remote.....what a pity as the food (buffet) is good compared to the room. Have to mention as well when one of the maids or supervisor whatever, had opened the door's room without knocking or given the go ahead to enter. I was lucky that I wasnt nude !!. Will never visit this hotel now.Not a 4 star hotel. Sorry to mention all this.A pity.

Room Tip: Dont choose the old area of the hotel as it needs a refurbishment.

Good - pool, views, close to ferry.

Poor - entertainment, location (far from anywhere), a lot of the staff, room cleanliness.

Average - rooms, bar, decor, food.

OK if you're french or elderly. Love Malta but would chose a different hotel and location. OK for the money.

Just returned from our 6th visit to Paradise Bay Hotel. Food is 'mixed' but adequate. Staff attitude could be greatly improved. Some of the younger 'newer' faces seem to be able to offer a smile much more easily than some of the 'old hands'. Really need to be more welcoming to score a top mark - first impressions count. Cleanliness this year was 'O.K.' but could have been better. We go for the peace and quiet, which 'end of season' it is, while the weather still hot and sunny. If you want lots of activity and night life, this is not the place for you.
As another reviewer, recently (last couple of years) they seem to have placed great emphasis on an association with a French Holiday club and their presence is a bit 'overpowering' at times.
Largely only the English(British) guests seem to have any manners!!

Room Tip: Bay view rooms face South can be very hot - although Air conditioned (with balcony door shut) overlo...

we have just returned from our stay at this hotel and can honestly say it is not as bad as some of the daft reviews on here. It is not a 4 star hotel but then for the price you pay you would'nt expect it to be. The positives were the fabulous views and the pool areas were great with lots of sun beds and access to the sea for swimming/snorkelling. The staff were mixed, some of them pleasant others not so although the oriental cleaning lady was great really friendly and efficient. Wi fi was rubbish my son spent 25 euros on it and could only get access in the bar area. Entertainment left a lot to be desired unless you are 70 or over and i dont like the fact that the french seem to be favoured over anyone with their own entertainment room leaving everyone else in the pokey bar area. The food as always is a matter of personal taste. We were a party of seven and three of us thought it was ok while the others found it hard to get a decent meal and as usual its only us british that seem to have the manners to form an orderly queue. If you can i'd advise anyone to hire a car as its quite a way from the main beach and shopping areas and the roadworks are not too bad once you know which way to go. All in all we had a pleasant stay and we go to malta every year as its such a friendly place. Also i would like to give a mention to the golden bay horse riding centre, had a fab ride overlooking golden bay many thanks will be back.

Room Tip: room 389 was great had a fab bay view.

I am disabled - Booked a disabled room stating my needs back in January- First room no grab bars by toilet and shower seat hanging off of wall - 2nd room toilet ok - Still a shower seat when pulled down dangerously hanging down on one side- took loads of complaints before on day six of our holiday to get rectified and I was finally able to take a shower - NOT VERY GOOD WHEN THE TEMP WAS 35 DEG + AND THE HOTEL ACTED AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG
Paid an extra £140 for sea-view room when vitually every room had a view of the sea

Room Tip: Don't rely on a conformation saying that the you you booked will meet all your needs - people do...

Make sure you appreciate that there nothing round the resort - only sea and endless hours of sunshine. But we are loving it here, and so easy to get about (by bus - only 2 euro 60 for all day) to nearby Mellieha Bay, etc. Rooms are great, we have sea and bay view, and food menu / quality / choice really good.
