“Wow!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2010

Having read many reviews prior to trip I was a little apprehensive as to what the accomadation would be like.
On arrival i'm pleased to say we were plesantly surprised. We booked a superior studio apartment which was situated in the newer wing on the 3rd Floor, our balcony although on the side of the road gave us a very pretty view of the countryside and the magestic church on the hill and wasn't too noisy with traffic.

We had booked self- catering so only tried the complex food on arrival as it was lunch time but what we had was lovely. The roof top pool was fabulous, very peaceful and pretty munch adults only until after the kids pool closed at 5.30pm.

Lovely location, 4 mins walk to great beach. Great eating places really near by catering for all tastes. ( we tried several maltese dishes including the spagetti with rabbit sauce... yum!)
Accomadation was good, very clean.
Pillows on beds were a bit dodgie when we arrived but housekeeping quickly changed them with no fuss, bathroom was good size, shower a bit low down so had to sit in bath to use but plenty of hot water.
Bathroom did flood a couple of times but think that was user error as only ever happened when mad friend was in there...lol

Amazing scuba and you must try the psychotic buses!! oooh and watch out for the jelly fish

We were a little nervous about what to expect when we arrived as some of the reviews posted were less than favourable. However, from the outset the staff were freindly & helpful and the accomodation was clean, modern & more than adequate for our needs. There are 2 pools - one roof top & one at the rear of the complex that we used most days where we also used the bar for lunches. The restaraunt in the evening was better than a lot of the restaurants in the town that we tried. Altogether a great holiday. Good staff, location, food & facilities. Not brilliant for kids and evening entertainment.

Good location, next to nice beach. On the down side room was dirty, gas hob did not work, bathroom was dirty and dated. We paid extra for daily clean towels, but i had to go to reception three times in a week ask for the towels.Mellieha was really nice and the poor hotel did not ruin our holiday.

We stayed in a standard appartment in June, appartment was perfectly clean and had the basics we needed. Good shower. No TV in the standard appartments and only a ceiling fan but although had the option to buy air conditioning per night, we didn't need either. Single beds, but were very comfortable. Mini market downstairs and internet terminals in reception. Overall the Luna is well presented and the staff were the friendliest I've met in Europe! Everyone in Malta is friendly and helpful though!
Nice restaurants just down the street and a bigger supermarket in the holiday complex down at the beach, 10 minutes walk away. Would stay at the Luna again no problem.

Having read a few negative reviews about this location, we felt somewhat apprehensive before leaving for Malta on our holiday.
Well, let me say from the outset that this hotel/apartment complex gives excellent value for money, and I found nothing negative to report about it.
The staff were friendly and always willing to give advice and assistance, the room was spotless, and laundry was changed every 3 days.
I would agree that the sink unit could do with a draining board, and that there could possibly be a small cupboard for those items of food that you really don't want to leave out.
We had a view looking out towards the Church, and the road in front of the complex could get a bit noisy and busy - but, hey!! People are on holiday and need buses, hired cars and taxis to get about!!!
The restaurant was a bit on the pricey side, but the quality was very good. We were self-catering, and found a couple of good supermarkets (not local) where we were able to buy some provisions at reasonable cost. Milk, Bread, usual snack items and cigs were available at 2 local mini-markets, Roberta's, and the Luna's own.
Would recommend this as an "off the beaten track" destination. 2 pools and only a 5 minute walk from a nice sandy beach. Loved it :)

The hotel is clean and nice, the area is quiet and the staff is friendly. The main advantage of this place is the short distance to a large sandy beach (large for Maltese standards). A very good roof pool. And is near bus stations to connect you to the many places to visit in Malta.
Is clean and it's quite some value for money.
Food is so and so, better eat somewhere else, there are so many places with great cuisine.
All in all is a good place to stay.
