I have visited this place many times over the last 10 years. The food is always exceptional. Portion sizes are great and well cooked. Personally love the extra large salads. Breakfasts are very large so you can recover from the night before. The owner is very food orientated and regularly researches new recipes. He doesn't just sit back and serve the same food all the time. I know he has research helpers over in the UK. Having said that there are some dishes that have been on the menu for a long time, and this is because the demand is always high.. like the steak pie, sometimes gigantic cod for the fish and chips. But only when the produce is available. He also makes his own sausages for the evening meals.
The kitchen is open plan so customers can see food being cooked and so there's no hiding anything. The bar is geared up to the British holidaymaker. All the beers you get at home as well as local ones at great prices. Loads of TV's for all the sports. Sun terrace for the sun all day or inside with aircon and no smoking. Many people who know what the place is like reserve tables months in advance for their special occasions. When there are major sports events on TV many tables are reserved weeks in advance. The owner does go out of his way to prepare any special food for your party if you are having a celebration there and many people take advantage of the great location overlooking the beach and ocean. When it was my birthday he did us a load of Argentinian beef with chimmichurri sauce, Memphis rubbed chickens, spicy sausages, bbq'd ribs, salads. We had a great day with nothing too much trouble. If you are staying nearby and you want a meal to take back to your apartment then he'll do items for you. He even does stuff for the beach and sandwiches to go to the airport. I know that he already has 75 bookings for Xmas and many people reserved their places earlier in the year. It has been noticeable recently that other bars in the are have been empty whilst Surfers has been very busy.
The staff there are very professional and friendly. They are always in good spirits and chatty which is what a customer wants to see. The fact that it has been going for such a long time and extended over the years is testament to the good service it provides to its customers. Now if there were only some real ale breweries in Tenerife there might be room for improvement, but there are none. But if you want seriously good food without being ripped off, and well kept beer at a decent price, and you are into your football and other sports then this is a great place to visit. The place is always closed for staff holidays the first couple of weeks in Dec. Same this year. Great place.
