We recently stayed at Villa Salobre and generally were happy with the villa. We had a 2 bedroomed villa with a pool in the the Los Lagos part of the complex and were also right near to a large communal heated pool. I had read the reviews on here prior to booking and was pleasantly surprised as the villa we had was very well equipped and definitely had a full kitchen etc It was very clean and the facilites on the complex were also very good. The pools with the villas are very small - OK for our 2 and a half year old to play or to relax in but definitely not for swimming. The biggest downside for us was the weather - now you might think what an idiot you can't control the weather but the truth is the complex is at the top of a mountain and therefore it was very often cloudy. We would drive down to the beach at Maspalomas and it was beautiful sunshine yet at the villa all you could see was cloud! We had a couple of lovely afternoons when the weather was better at the villa and this was great but it felt annoying to have to drive down to the beach most of the time to get some sun!! We went in June so I can imagine this being a real problem and other times of the year. Location is fairly good for getting to Maspalomas, the beautiful Melonaras and Playa De Ingles but as everyone has previously said you cannot get anywhere without a car and my husband found some of the spanish driving style a challenge! Don't think we would stay here again but probably look for a beach side appartment in the Melonaras area as was very impressed by the high standards, great shops, restaurants etc.

Pool the size of a bath tub, poor quality kitchen equipment (not including cooker!), Not as much luxury as they made out. No Gym facility(they have fallen out with the hotel) No heated pool for my 10 month old( Obviously I was fine in the cold pool!) All of the above I would normally think someone who had a poor holiday would write but to be honest it was not poor it was lovely. It was just that the Villa salobre makes out it is the height of luxury villa holidays and it simply is not it is .clean and usable well located for getting to the other lovely areas around (like Porto Mogan)

The villas are certainly pretty and well maintained but also lack character. We certainly didn't think the money we paid reflected the supposed luxury of the villa, although overall it was ok.
You certainly need a car to get anywhere in this resort including reception or mini market. Also don't rely on watching TV, if you are not a Spanish speaker, as all channels catered to Spanish viewers only. It is also not worth it renting the modem for €10 per day, as the connection speed is terrible. The restaurant is of average standard with prices reflecting the locality, i.e. high!

On the plus side, the complex is very quiet, sometimes too much so and the gardens are lovely to look at.
I would not go there again, instead, I'd rent a villa somewhere else, with easier access to Maspalomas.
We did not use the golf course, as it seemed too expensive.

Stayed at Salobre Golf Villa. The villa was great so far as furnishings, pool etc. except facing NE it received little sun on pool and front(although this is mid-winter so might be different in summer). The golf course was no more than adequate for holiday golf- one can find municipal courses in the UK which are as pretty or as challenging AND wildly over-priced at over 100 Euros a round with only a small reduction for juniors. Certainly not worth the money and I don't think any serious golfer would disagree. I am a 21 handicap hacker but my 2 handicap son-in-law emphatically agrees and he frequently plays in UK Europe and the US so has the experience to back up his opinions. Nor is cost a problem for him - he just does not like to be ripped off with mediocre services. If anyone thinks this a great course I would hate to see the courses they usually play on.
Besides the main South Course we sampled the new North Course. What a let-down! Condition - very poor and even dangerous to negotiate in the buggy

I have stayed at ALL the Sheraton properties in the Canarias and La Salobre is my favorite! I LOVE this place for the peace and quiet-complete tranquility. I was desperate to escape the insanity of Madrid for 3 nights and caught a cheap flight and a great deal at this hotel. As an SPG member-was given an upgrade to a suite-wonderful staff. My room was a haven after my small cramped Madrid apt. Fantastic separate huge bathtub with a water view, separate living and bedroom. Great bed, great products, TV's in both rooms-private terrace with sun loungers.
Gran Canaria is filled with mega tourist kinda run down beach hotels piled on top of each other. La Salobre is up in the hills, nice breezes, several wonderful swimming pools, view of the golf course, 3 restaurants.
I think this is a bit of an undiscovered gem in the Canarias. Gran Canaria was my last to visit, because of the not very good reviews. I'm so glad that it's relatively inexpensive! Of course the other islands may have more natural sights to see-but for a quick serene break that's affordable-this hotel and island is exactly thatl. I didn't leave the entire time I was there-I loved it.

  • Liked — Serenity and Peace with a great Spa!
  • Disliked — Room service was a bit slow and mixed up an order-also instructed staff to leave my store bought treats in the mini fridge.
