“Relaxing Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Have just come back from a weeks holiday in November, this is one of two hotels which are a mirror image of each other. The hotel rooms are very nicely furnished and the hotel is spotless. The food was good with plently of choice each day. It has a few swimming pools with a large sunbathing area and lots of sunbeds but the water is freezing cold except in one of the pools which is heated. The animation team are not very good in encouraging you to join in and they do not come round and socialise, which is different to what I have experienced before. The beach and sand dunes are a 25 minute walk away, you will also find there some restaurants and a nice promenade just past the lighthouse. The Hotel evening entertainment was very quiet as there didn't seem to be many people about in the evening. There is no where else to go in the evenings unless you get a taxi into town. Overall very good hotel if you are looking for a nice quiet peacful holiday.

was a bit worried when read some reviews - had nothing to worry about ---- from start to finish the hotel food and staff where excellent
The entrance was very grand - staff helpful at reception - cheerful in bars and restaurant - the pool side was amazing - lots of little bridges and plenty places to eat and drink - plenty sun beds where you had a choice of shade or sun - or both - there was enough sun beds for me to move from one to another when i felt like it - entertainment also very impressive for a hotel in spain -- drinks where not limited and you had a choice of 2 bars in evening --- just a wee reminder thought that men must wear long trousers in the evening for meal -- cant wait to go back again --- oh and if you come out back of hotel go past the little bar and you will see the camels - keep walking and you reach the beach with more shops bars and restaurants as at first we thought thre was only the bar across the road --- once again dont know what people who complained where expecting -- could'nt have got any better

Room Tip: thought all rooms where lovely - clean and spacious

Having stayed at Thomson Platinum hotels in recent years and been nothing less than delighted the Tabaiba fell far short of expectations. Yes, the reception and public areas were quite impressive and the rooms were modern, clean and comfortable but, regrettably that was where it stopped. We were aware of the hotel's location some 15/20 minutes walk from the beach but expected this to be compensated by tasteful and spacious lounging areas around the pools. I can only describe this area as akin to a holiday camp ! 100's of sun beds ( but also 100's of would-be occupants ) occupying just about every square foot of available space making it an obstacle course to get to a bed ( if you could find a vacant one ) and impossible to move it to follow the sun. Very sociable if you want to shake hands with all around you but hopeless if you want a little space and some peace and quiet. No parasols provided despite teperatures in the 30's. The area down one side of the pools ( football pitch size ) has tried to create a beach theme with grey grit ( not yellow sand ) some 3" deep on which sit row after row of tightly packed loungers - YUCK. With one or two notable exceptions, the staff were not particularly friendly, lacking motivation and thin on the ground where it mattered. The root cause, in my opinion, is rank poor management who were never to be seen. Our first and last experience of "all inclusive" terms - the wine was barely drinkable which, bearing in mind they make the stuff , could have been so much better. Nothing would entice me to go back to this hotel.

We have just come back from a week all inclusive (Nov 2012 ). The Hotel was superb, starting with the reception area which is very impressive and welcoming. Our room which was on the 1st floor was clean and had a huge balcony which was a lovely Sun-trap in the afternoon. Could not fault the room and the cleanliness with maid service every day. Has fridge and safe at extra cost, but found no need for a fridge as a walk to the bar and you can have everything you could want.
The food was very nice with choices of meat, fish, pasta, salads, etc. drinks at the Evening meal was all types of local wine, Beer and Water which was certainly OK to drink.
Breakfast was good with Eggs, bacon, cheeses, cereals, fruit and lots more. Food was also served at the poolside bar between 12 and 5.
The Bars were excellent, the Piano bar open between 10 am and late, served Beer, wine, Spirits, Baileys, Cocktails, soft drinks and Coffee.(and lots more). There are 2 all inclusive poolside bars as well...
There is a Tennis Court at around 7 Euro/ hr if you take your own rackets and mini golf which is half price between 5:30pm and 8:00 pm

Locally you have walks to the beach, Shops, Markets and Golf Course.

All in all a great holiday and will be going back very soon

Room Tip: Rooms on 1st floor have large balconies, but some are close to reception, so 2nd would be have less...

Our second visit to the Tabaiba although we have also stayed at the Maspalomas Princess (attached) on one occasion.
The Tabaiba is value for money. Many reviews get a little "up tight" about the five star rating given by travel companies but the hotel itself is more realistic and admit to being four star, which is a fair rating.
The food is good value, drinks are typical of most other all inclusive hotels (average) but we have had much worse. The entertainment in the Piano Bar was good enough to keep us away from the show bar where miming and tribute bands dominate. Tribute bands are like a plague in these holiday resorts and there should be a cull. One or two, sometimes, are tolerable but things are getting out of hand.
The staff are fine. I complained about the bar staff in my last review but most of them were ok this time. There are a couple of exceptions who are difficult and should seek other employment but it is unrealistic to expect 100%. Rooms are quite spacious and comfortable.
The gym equipment is dated but all in all it is operable. Now for a real gripe. I cannot understand why hotels fill gym areas with equipment that hardly ever gets used. I exercised for the seven days I was there and saw (again) that the same few pieces of apparatus are used day on day. 60% never get touched. If management were really interested they would monitor this and put in equipment that does not merely fill a space. The most popular and effective piece of equipment is the simple rowing machine but they are hardly ever installed. They are relatively cheap and popular with both sexes. Management, please take note!!
My last review complained about smokers on room balconies and nothing has changed there. If you do not mind the foul smell coming from all sides and below, the balcony is a very pleasant place to be. But this is not the case. Unfortunately, if smoking was completely banned it is too late to get rid of the stink which has infiltrated everything and ensures that balcony doors are kept firmly closed. I complain everytime but there is no stopping the addict and the hotel needs the custom.
Apart from the moans, the Tabaiba is a very acceptable place to stay and we may go back.

Room Tip: High rooms are probably best

Very disappointed with this hotel! Read all reviews and decided to give it a fair go and make the most of our much needed break!! We arrived as a family -14 year old daughter, husband and I . Check in was quick and easy, our rooms were perfectly acceptable, however our daughter was disappointed with lack of WIFI and available TV channels. The pool had tiles missing and was a dubious colour, apparently due to the yellowey green shade of the tiles? Loungers are in serious need of replacing! One pool towel and one small bottle of water per person for the duration of your holiday is not acceptable for a hotel of this supposed standard! Food was good, Staff were mostly friendly. All inclulsive was shocking- drinks sugary- coffee absolutely DISGUSTING! WOULD NOT GO BACK :(

My two year old son and I stayed here for a week at the end of October this year. We had a really lovely time, the hotel was beautiful and the food gorgeous. The hotel was immaculately clean and I would say the majority of the staff were friendly and helpful (you'll always get a few shirty ones wherever you go). The only negative factors were the pebble beach in the hotel (very uncomfortable to walk on and a bit pointless!)and the uncomfortable beds (though they usually are abroad I find). The entertainment in the evening was a bit cheesy, but my son absolutely loved the mini disco and the team were brilliant with the little ones. The hotel made me feel really safe and the surrounding area too (important as I was the only adult). There's a supermarket right behind the hotel and the beach is about a twenty minute walk away. I would recommend the excursions (we went with Thomson/First choice) in particular the animal park (fantastic day out for all) and Puerto Rico (so pretty). Our flights went without a hitch and the transfers too. We really enjoyed ourselves and it went too quick! I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 1st floor and were lucky to have a good view (other rooms on higher floors may...
