This is a fun resort that is placed into the parched mountainside in a very sensitive way. There are many levels to this property, as it climbs up to the ultimate level, where there are views to the distant ocean. Service was fine, the one annoyance- the public computers were not only limited in number, but also all but one was out of service for part of my stay. Service recovery was spot on: I asked for and was given complimentary wifi as a result. I requested a refrigerator for my room, which was also complimentary. My room was a junior suite, and quite spacious. Although it was overlooking the inner courtyard, it was three stories above the restaurant & bar, and the noise/music was not too intrusive. It was quite pleasant to sit out on the balcony, at any time of day or night, and the outdoor furnishings were unusually comfortable.

This hotel is one of the better Sheratons. New & Fresh!
We spend a lot of time in hotels and have 7 years platinum on our backs, with more than 1100 nights in total.
Check-In - Fast and easy, upgrade to a nice suite.
Suite - great and compfy with the normal needs. Strange toilet door though... It's a normal glass door where you can see straight through, no privacy!
Internet included but only for 1 device at the time... that could be better.
Water bottles every day! A plate with ham, fruits etc every day.
Pool on the 11th and SPA Pool are great, forget the rest. SPA is for free for all Platinum SPG Guests!
We wouldn't bring the kids here due to the fact that kids aren't allowed at these pools.
Beach - forget the beach house and the beach!
Breakfast - pretty good and 5 star standard. € 20 per person is really good compared to other hotels worldwide. SPG Platinum gets one day for free. Service is great, free coffe brought to the room in the morning, very friendly service all over and multi-lingual. Tried to tipp some staff members but the always refuse at first... bit strange coz i assume they live from the tipp?
Dinner - try some of the restaurants in Maspalomas, taxi or rent a car? We use cabs, just € 15 with a nice tipp (one way). Yeah € 15 shouldn't bother you if you are booking 5 star and want top service and quality.
Basically a great place to relax... I wouldn't come here during high season. We love the fact that the hotel seems to be pretty empthy, this is the end of June and we are staying here for a five more days... I hope it stays this way...
BTW i normally "B**CH" about anything i can coz i simply expect the best when i pay for it. I know it sounds a bit arrogant but OK i love service and i love quality, i seem to have found it all here...
And one last point... Gran Canaria is really CHEAP! Everything here is cheap... Steak down town € 10 Rumpsteak, Filet Steak € 17! Marlboro light € 2.40.... everything is like 50% off or more compare to Vienna, Austria! (That's our home!)

It's a beautiful resort, very relaxed atmosphere and the pool areas are fantastic. The resort is located in the middle of nowhere, so there's nothing else to do in the neighborhood (except jogging / golfing). So plan to stay there or hire a car.

This was our second trip to this hotel. We returned as we loved the location - 15 minutes inland - so it is a more laid back holiday. Hotel was as we remebered and we were given the floor we requested, the staff are very helpful and everything we requested was done for us. Rooms are nice, quite small but but everything you need. Minibar has now replaced the fridge so nowhere to store anything for yourself. Food and drink costs are very expensive - 5.50 euros for a dit coke! - evening buffet meals were 35.00 euros per head which I think is expensive. We ate every night down on the front at Melonoras where the restaurants were excellent. Most evening the hotels buffet was almost empty, althought the hotel was very quiet when we went [ beginning of May] we noticed most people ate away from the hotel. A couple of guests we talked ate in the restaurant as they got a deal for half board. We had hired our own car and this gave us freedom to explore. The hotel does run shittle buses down to the front. My husband played golf everyday on the Salobrer golf course and really enjoyed it, I had a spa trteatment every day. We booked a great deal for the golf and spa through a UK company called Golf Escapes who were excellent. The spa is great but unfortunately they allow children in which slightly ruins the experience. Spa entry is not free so probably would not bother to go in unless I had a treatment. Overall we like this hotel and would definitely go back again!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor so you get a good view!

I should first start by saying that my family and I did not stay here, but at in the restaurants and paid to use some of the pools and also wandered around the hotel a little.

The Sheraton Salobre is an odd sort of place, and seems to be dominated by company away days - Audi were there when we were there and another car company (possibly Porsche?) had also been there recently. The hotel is dominated by and aimed at travellers in their late 50s / early 60s and families seem to be just about tolerated as something of a minor inconvenience, whilst this may well suit some, it struck me as a little sad, almost like a section of humantity were trying to alienate itself from the rest of the world.

The facilities for the adults are very good - the sunset swimming pool and bar, the restaurants etc, and for the older, childless couple it might be a nice, brief break, though I could also sense people a little sad at this appparent isolation.

Staying in the Salobre resort for a few days and decided to go to the Sheraton for dinner. The hotel is architectually stunning and uber cool, but the service in the main a'la carte service was very poor.

We were the only two in the restaurant, the asparagus and cherry tomato soup was great, my wife's sea bass was good but my duck was overcooked. They offered to replace the duck but we declined. We then ordered desert but not offered coffee, port, desert wine etc. when we later asked for a port, they only offered one choice.

Please bear in mind that there were four staff having a chat throughout the course of our meal. Apart from the duck, it was the service that was the issue. We had visited a couple of times and it wasn't great but expected much more from their flag ship restaurant. Very dissapointing for a Sheraton and no wonder it was so quiet.
