.We travelled as a family group of myself and my husband (63 and 62) and our daughter, son in law and 1 year old grandson. As said by nearly everyone else, this is a lovely hotel with very friendly staff. It is kept scrupulously clean in all areas. The only thing we didn't like was the fact that the outside terrace which extends all along the back of the hotel didn't have a non smoking section so you could never get away from the smoke, particularly in the evenings. The only option was to go and sit inside which we didn't always want to do. Our room on the second floor was, unfortunately, right over the bar area so the smoke drifted up onto the balcony from below and meant we couldn't leave the window open overnight as the smoke came into the room ( we prefer real air as opposed to air conditioning). However, this was only a small factor and no way detracted from the overall holiday experience. Yes, the sunbeds got covered with towels early in the day and were quite often left unoccupied all day. We just moved the towels off and used the sunbeds and out of a 14 day holiday, only had one run-in with the occupants. There are three pools (plus a kiddies pool)and they range in depth so there is one to suit all levels of swimmers. If you want to go to a beach, just go out of the hotel at the back and onto a promenade which stretches from Maspalomas to Melonares. The Riu is situated about half way between the two so a 10 minute stroll in either direction will take you to nice beaches with bars, restaurants and shops. The food in the hotel was good and very varied and how anybody could complain about variety I do not know.

We travelled with Thomsons and I must give mention to Jan the in-hotel holiday rep. She is the best rep we have ever come across. She knows her island inside out and she always seemed to be genuinly interested in the wellbeing of all her clients and remembered names which always makes you feel a bit special. She is someone special, Thomsons, please take note.

There isn't much else I could add that hasn't been said before, so go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Just got back from 7 nights at this hotel, wish we were staying longer ! Found staff to be very friendly & hotel was very clean. All the food we had was excellent, if you coudn't find somthing you like then you must be a fussy eater ! As previously written the sun beds are a little too close but if you disregard the non reserve rule (as most people did, there were towels on beds at 07.45) and get ones on the end of the rows you can move them around to give yourself a bit more room. Pools never seemed to be crowded but were perhaps a little small. Jan the Thomson rep was very friendly and helpfull. Aqualand was a bit of a let down for the money it costs, there is only really 7 good rides. we went on the super cat which takes you around the west coat line. not cheap but worth the money.
Overal we had a great time and would go back again.

We returned yesterday from our second two week stay in this hotel, and once again were impressed by the value and service. We were treated with courtesy by all the staff, and when I asked for a room nearer to the escalator the morning after our arrival, as I am slightly disabled, we were given one on the third level above the bar with lovely views of the gardens, pool and sea. The room was kept immaculate with clean sheets nearly every day. Yes, it could be noisey at night because of the bar below us, but if we closed the windows the noise was completely blocked.
The food once again was excellent with a really wide choice for everyone's taste, plus special evenings with either Mexican or Chinese meals in the garden restaurant which we booked in reception.
There were many people from Germany, Holland and Belgium along with many Spanish visitors, and everyone was treated with respect by the staff. It was lovely to chat with other nationalities at dinner in the evening.
Because it was an all inclusive hotel, there was no need to take cash with you around the hotel.
The only let down once again was the entertainment in the Theatre in the evenings. I accept that the Animation Team worked really hard all day, but I am sure that Thomson could put on a few more professional acts in the evenings, I don't think Karioki is appropriate entertainment in a Four star Hotel. This was the only down side of this hotel.
Everyone we spoke to agreed that we will all be back next year.

We have just come back 2 weeks ago from this hotel, we booked holiday with Thomson and were happy enough with the flight, we didnt use transfer cos we rent a car and were dissappointed when we got to the hotel reception and got our room!!!

We had booked sea view room but we got room on the ground floor with the view on the wall, the smell in this room was awful and u couldnt even open the window cos someone could walk in by the balcony. So went back to the reception and complained about it but they said the hotel is fully booked and they cant do anything else but it wasnt our fault we booked and we should get it after a while speaking with the manager we got the room on the 3 floor with kind of sea view..it was ok apart from the noise u could hear every morning and evening when the kitchen staff cleand their back area ie..also one night we had cocroaches in our room and when we told that reception staff said its normal but not for us..we paid quite good money for this hotel and its riu hotel so it shouldnt been there...
The reception staff were rude and cheeky and also speaking in spanish in front of us, making funny jokes but only funny for them not for the guests. They were nice for german (99%of germans were there) , so they were treated in a very polite way compare to us english, thats my feeling.
But thats my story and other people might like this hotel, Im not saying I didnt cos I didnt let this story to ruin my holiday.

In general the hotel was nice and clean. The pool was big and with warm water.

The food was nice but not a big selection of meals and very repetitive..The selection of desserts was very very poor...Breakfests , lunches and dinners were just ok nothing special..the best forme there was pizza (very delicious).

Hotel was very good located just few min walk promenade to the best Maspalomas sand dunes..and about an hour walk along the beach to Playa del Ingles..

We enjoyed our holidays but I wouldnt be back again to this hotel...

We spent 11 nights at this beautiful hotel & had one of our best holidays ever. From the moment we arrived we were treated extremely well by all staff & nothing was too much trouble.
We had a sea view room very close to the snack bar with views across the pool area & were never disturbed at all, even though this is obviously a busy spot.
Our room was immaculate & cleaned every day with fresh towels daily.
Food was never a problem, there is something for everyone & if you find nothing then you must be very fussy. Breakfast was amazing with the usual full English, cereals, toast, cold meats, yoghurt & fresh fruit. We didn’t use the restaurant at lunch times so I can’t comment on that as we used the snack bar. Here you could get pizza, burgers, hotdogs, chips, pasta dishes, salad, fresh fruit & ice cream.
Dinner was always superb which included chicken, beef, veal, lamb & salmon. Also a vast amount of different vegetables & again salad & soup. A huge selection of desserts to finish the meal off.
Drinks were in ample supply which at first we thought were all premium brands but looking closer some had look alike labels on the bottle but from what we had to drink the quality was very good. The service was brilliant, the waiters very happy to joke with you whatever nationality you were, especially Mario & Nunez.
All in all this was a perfect holiday & we could not have wished for better.
A big thank you to all the staff & if management should happen to read this, every one of you should be very proud of yourselves.
