We stayed her for two full weeks June 14 to 18 2008 ( 2 Adults 2 Teenagers and One Very Young Pensioner ) and wish it had been for much longer. We could not fault the hotel whatsoever. Everything was wonderful - would recommend this to anyone. Very international hotel, Excellent Amenities for all ages. Loved the Hotel, Loved the resort and Loved being In Gran Canaria - Beautiful Island !!

Just returned from the Clubhotel Riu Gran Canaria. Stayed 30th June to 14th July. We normally stay at the Riu Palace hotels as they are usually 5 star and the service is always excellent but thought we would try this Clubhotel and were not dissappointed. The food was excellent - I'm a veggie but could always find something to eat and enjoy. Room was very clean as was all parts of the hotel and grounds and the staff work hard to make your stay enjoyable and were always happy to oblige with any request you would make. The only downside was the German occupation of the sunbeds. Dear oh Dear. Every morning before daylight they would troop down to the pool to make sure of their beds which was totally unnecessary as there were hundreds of beds - enough for everyone. The most annoying part was they would reserve their beds then shuffle off and invariably not show up until mid afternoon. I did speak with the hotel manager about this as it does state in their literature that reserving beds is not allowed but they don't seem to do anything about this problem or the fact that towels and a football banner are hung from the balconies at the end of the day making the hotel look like a chinese laundry. Having said all that we would definately go back as we enjoyed our stay very much. The weather was perfect, the walk along the promenade in the evening was very pleasant. If you don't mind getting up early to reserve your sunbed then go to this above average hotel and enjoy. We will most probably go again everything except the sunbed problem was excellent.

This hotel is above average, and it is very nicely decorated, and is very clean and well maintained....however, the food was not very nice at all, and it catered for mainly Germans, as when we visited the hotel was flocked with Germans, although, there was some english food, it wasn't very good quality, and it was always warm, and the meat was always overcooked, dry and tough. Although, we are very very fussy eaters....so don't take just our opinion.

However on a more positive note, the entertainment was excellent, and the best that we have seen in a hotel, especially the hotel entertainment team shows!!!

The rooms were more than exceptable and they were kept very clean, and maintened well...they were also very nicely decorated...the bathroom was quite small but exceptable.

Overall this hotel is above average, if your not to pickey about food, then i would reccommend this hotel for you.

We have just come back from staying at the Riu Club Hotel. Over all we had a very good stay here. The food was excellent quality and very varied from day to day. The dining room staff were especially friendly and were always looking to help. In fact all staff would go out of their way to greet you. I recommend booking the 'Brisas' restaurant which is by the pool for the Asian and Mexican evenings for a change. The drinks were very good, and bar staff would make sure they poured a good measure.

The room my family stayed in were a little tired and could do with updating, but were clean and tidied every day. Again, the hotel staff would go out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable as my mother in law mentioned to them her matress was a little hard, the same day they had arranged to change it for a softer one. the rooms have TV (which we never watched) air conditioning, ceiling fan, safe and fridge. 1ltr bottles of water can be obtained free of charge from reception.

The evening entertainment was enjoyable. The animation team tried their best to put on a good show. We have a 4 year old daughter, so for us, the show started a little too late - 9.45pm - but I guess for others this was not a problem.

The pool is cleaned daily, but the surrounding area is not. In the high season, you will have to get up early if want to have sunbeds near the pool.

Gran Canaria is not the prettiest of the Canary Islands, but the people are generally friendly and polite. I would recommend the market in Puerto Mogan on fridays. Mornings are best, and then lunch by the harbour. Also, for couples, a boat trip on the Aphrodite, well worth the money spent.

I would recommend this hotel, staff are excellent as is the food. rooms a little tired, but are clean, and be prepared for a busy pool area in the high season.
