4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

went early December very quiet just as we required staff very friendly, food dam good if a little cool at times excellent wine and beer.It is a little out of way but taxis are plentiful and cheap (and the calmest I`ve ever ridden with) TV channels very limited but who cares your not in England, over all very pleasant and wood return.

The hotel is clean and rooms cleaned daily. The staff are pleasent but the place is well out of the way for shops and entertainment. Their is a limited bus transfere service but at night a taxi is required. The hotel has no entertainment and the so called bar offers very little varieties of largers/beers. It takes a while waiting for a member of staff to come out of the resturant to serve you a drink. The food mainly caters for the German clientele and after a week of the same menu I needed to go and eat out. The hotel offers little to ever want to return, for an enjoyable experience their are better and cheaper places to stay.

Had a fabulously relaxing stay at Jardin Dorado. Great value; staff were friendly and helpful; apartment was big for a 'junior suite', especially the bathroom and very modern with comfy beds. Great swimming pool with plenty of loungers & nice surroundings. Really good variety of tasty food at the buffet - lots of salad and fresh veg as well as all sorts of rice, pasta, pizza, fish, meat; plenty of fresh fruit and all sorts of continental and cooked breakfast. Quite quiet, did walk to Maspalomas/ Playa Del Ingles but took a while so glad there was such a good free bus service!
Use the free bus to get to Maspalomas really quickly - the beach is vast, sand dunes pretty and some nice shops, bars and restaurants. For a mad night out go to Playa del Ingles Yumbo or Kasbah centres (free bus goes there too).

If you get chance it's worth exploring the island on a tour to some of the picturesque towns and the beautiful mountainous countryside.

Went in November 2012 with the husband and 7 1/2 month old and cannot rate this hotel highly enough. As it was our first holiday abroad with the baby we were a little anxious but I sent an email requesting a microwave and a kettle for the room (for sterillising bottles) and they promptly replied saying this was okay (many thanks Sabina!) and this was all ready in the room when we arrived.
We arrived to a very warm welcome from Esther at reception and the room was ready with a cot for the little one.
We stayed for a week AI and the food was fantastic. There were always several options at all meals and I have to admit that at several sittings I had difficulty choosing what to have as it was so nice, so ended up having most of it!
The staff were excellent and so friendly. The only downside was the lack of staff sometimes as the staff on were sometimes a little overworked but they were always smiling and stopping for a chat if they could, so this would be a management issue. Our baby especially loved Bruno and fell in love with Fani!
We are definitely considering this for our holiday next year and have recommended this to our parents as well.

Room Tip: If you want a view you should ask for a room overlooking the golf course

We didn't pay much so our expectation levels were low. All we thought we would get was watered down drinks, chips and a pool in the sun. It was so much better than that.

The staff were a bit overworked but they were friendly and lovely with the children (6 & 8). It meant you could wait at the bar for a while if you timed it badly - but you could see the bar from anywhere so it was simple to see when would be a good time to go.
The food was really good. Yes, there were chips for those who're looking for England away from England but there was also plently of Spanish food. Lots to choose from and much better quality than anticipated - I'm a food snob and I was happy.

The all inclusive spirits were 'own brand' so if you wanted Gordon's gin you'd have to pay but Joe Bloggs' random gin was free. The ones I drank were good and there seemed to be plenty to choose from. The wine wasn't the best so one glass at the beginning of the week was enough! The beer was good - not cheap and nasty. Sangria and mojitos were on tap and free too :-)

The bungalow was clean and had its own tiny sun-filled yard at the back: completely private but really only meant for drying clothes (good for swimming costumes). The bungalow would be better if the bedroom could be separated in some way from the lounge - even by a curtain which pulled across. Our kids slept on a bed and the sofa in the lounge while we were in the bedroom.

The next thing is the only real piece of criticism I have. The main bed was two singles pushed together. I wouldn't have expected it in a 4*. It wouldn't have been so bad if the mattresses hadn't been completely collapsed and awful. It meant you could feel the metal ridge around the edge if you lay on it so there was no chance of snuggling up. After night one my husband's back was twingy so we swapped sides - his mattress should have been condemned because the springs had all sprung! It was nice and quiet at night though so not the end othe world.

It was safe and the pool was just the right size. The kids loved it and swam, played air hockey and pool and well as on the climbing frames etc in the play area. We had a great holiday.

Hotel generally lives up its description on a variety of websites. The layout of the complex is very nice and our bungalow was very comfortable. The area surrounding the complex was obviously scheduled for development that has never happened so the approach to the complex is rather unkempt. The main downfall of this hotel is the food and bar service. The waiting/bar staff are generally surly and devoid of common courtesy and think nothing of leaving guests waiting for bar service without a word being said. Table service is hap hazard and lacks organisation. One waiter, Bruno is very professional and courteous but sadly he is swimming against the tide. Meals are the classic Spanish buffet but the organisation from within the kitchen is lacking with key items e.g. Bacon being in short supply every morning . Evening meal service was equally poor. Towels and pillows in the bungalow were worn and not what one would expect of a 4 star venue..

Room Tip: We had a room with a pool view which was great. Avoid exterior aspect rooms as soon of them have a v...

Had a great holiday at the Jardin Dorado, wasn't put off by some of the negative reviews, we went with an open mind. The food was plentiful and very nice, didn't feel like we we're eating leftovers as some have mentioned there was always plenty to choose from and a very good bbq on the Saturday night. No entertainment but we we're happy to make our own, everyone seemed relaxed sitting around chatting or playing cards and games with their children (perfect quality time) and the chill out area by the pool was great to chill out with a drink after dinner. I would also recommend treating yourself to the Thai massage - cured my hangover!!! The bungalows we're lovely in a nice setting and cleaned every day. There is no kettle in the room, but when we asked the staff we're more than happy to let us have one for the week, they must know us Brits are no good without a cup of tea in the morning.

We hired a car for the week from the airport which gave us greater freedom to travel around. I would recommend a visit to Amadores beach (the drive to the bay was breathtaking) and Puerto de Morgan a lovely harbour just like a mini venice.

I would also recommend the Moonlight Cinema at Melonares, an outside cinema with two seater settees, blankets and pillows, and they serve drinks and food to your seat. The Yumbo center is also worth a visit, but keep an open mind if your going at night, we spent a couple of nights in Sparkles the Drag Queens are very entertaining. The Yumbo mini golf was also a good find.

Would definately return to the Jardin Dorado.
