Hotel generally lives up its description on a variety of websites. The layout of the complex is very nice and our bungalow was very comfortable. The area surrounding the complex was obviously scheduled for development that has never happened so the approach to the complex is rather unkempt. The main downfall of this hotel is the food and bar service. The waiting/bar staff are generally surly and devoid of common courtesy and think nothing of leaving guests waiting for bar service without a word being said. Table service is hap hazard and lacks organisation. One waiter, Bruno is very professional and courteous but sadly he is swimming against the tide. Meals are the classic Spanish buffet but the organisation from within the kitchen is lacking with key items e.g. Bacon being in short supply every morning . Evening meal service was equally poor. Towels and pillows in the bungalow were worn and not what one would expect of a 4 star venue..

Had a great holiday at the Jardin Dorado, wasn't put off by some of the negative reviews, we went with an open mind. The food was plentiful and very nice, didn't feel like we we're eating leftovers as some have mentioned there was always plenty to choose from and a very good bbq on the Saturday night. No entertainment but we we're happy to make our own, everyone seemed relaxed sitting around chatting or playing cards and games with their children (perfect quality time) and the chill out area by the pool was great to chill out with a drink after dinner. I would also recommend treating yourself to the Thai massage - cured my hangover!!! The bungalows we're lovely in a nice setting and cleaned every day. There is no kettle in the room, but when we asked the staff we're more than happy to let us have one for the week, they must know us Brits are no good without a cup of tea in the morning.

We hired a car for the week from the airport which gave us greater freedom to travel around. I would recommend a visit to Amadores beach (the drive to the bay was breathtaking) and Puerto de Morgan a lovely harbour just like a mini venice.

I would also recommend the Moonlight Cinema at Melonares, an outside cinema with two seater settees, blankets and pillows, and they serve drinks and food to your seat. The Yumbo center is also worth a visit, but keep an open mind if your going at night, we spent a couple of nights in Sparkles the Drag Queens are very entertaining. The Yumbo mini golf was also a good find.

Would definately return to the Jardin Dorado.

i went all inclusive which was great value..pleasant staff..but on arrival..given a map to find ones bungalow
why not be taken and shown even in lower star hotels.this is courtesy..and gives welcoming impression..bungalows are clean and spacious...kitchen area sofa tv...the twin beds pushed together..bedspreads could do with an update..the beds matresses are so hard and so umcomfortable...my friend..had to sleep on the sofa...tv channel sky news in english...a few more channels would be good even if one had to pay per view..pool area was pleasant and bar..food was good..lots of choices and the reviews i have read unfair lots of choices and nicely presented...criticism it gets cold quickly..which spoils it ..and thats my criticism..staff pleasant ..a couple of the waiters lovely but not enough staff ..they are easily stressed ..they need more help at peak times
...fine tuning to keep in four star or lower the rating...its a lovely place
.needs s bit of tlc...but i enjoyed my stay..and i adored the cat..a bit of work and staff ..customer service training and it would be excellent and new matresses please...

Perfect holiday, I was a little concerned at some of the comments on here but really needn't have been. The important things for us - comfort, relative quiet, nice food and alcohol that isn't watered down were all ticked. The red wine was actually very nice, as was the beer, and the vodka was strong tasting, bottles of water were in abundance. The pool was big with a smaller one for children, out of season there were a few children around but not many. The rooms were spacious, air conditioning was effective, bathroom was decent sized and there was a patio to sit on and read. Glad we left when we did as the new occupants of our adjoining bungalow were watching the television at a ridiculously loud volume very late at night on their first night (luckily our last).

Rooms had a fridge which we found useful, hairdryer and a safe costing €17. Could not fault the cleanliness or quality of food, freshly cooked pancakes/omelettes/fried eggs for breakfast, plenty of choice for each meal and some of it was really tasty. Vegetables were good too, which I have found unusual on all inclusive in the past.

We didn't go wanting entertainment so were quite pleased to find it was only Wednesday night and Saturday night (especially as Wednesday was Motown slightly offkey - we couldn't hear it from our room, a blessing perhaps). We came in on a late flight and a plate of food was available for us which we were grateful for.

Some of the staff were fantastic, free wifi was tricky to obtain in some spots (our room and some of the pool area) and flaky at other times but you soon learn where to stand to check your phone.

Free bus service is a nice feature, there is a supermarket if you turn left out of the resort (the one in the golf complex opposite is not particularly well stocked) and we had some nice food and a laugh one evening at the Yumbo centre.
