“Unfriendly place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2011

Bungalow itself was not so bad (yet nothing good as well) - small room, veranda of a reasonable size, small kitchen set. But for it's price - it's OK (yet I dreamed about air conditioning - there is none).
What is not OK even for such a low price - is staff. Dear potential customers of Vista Oasis shop, always get your calculator with you! Reception staff lies and cheats when you get your purchases to cash machine to pay for them. It could be up to 30-40% more VS prices indicated on labels, if you just pay the amount announced without checking it.
Internet is available at reception only, speed is not awful, but is definetely bad.

it was in the middle of no where, on the hotel road there was one resturant and one supermarket, you need a car to get around. the bungalows as they call it are nothing like what they say no air con no fans, not a lot of cooking facilites, never se them clean round pool, cleaners and receptionists were very un helpful and rude.

After reading other reviews on here i was weary, but to be honest most the low cost holidays in this area seemed much the same.
I arrived with cockroach spray at the ready and was pleased to say the apartments and surrounding areas were clean and tidy, so my fears were unfound. We were on the 3rd bunch of appartments up, so not sure what the ground floor was like?
The reception is 24hours and all the staff seemed helpful. One or two were not great at English, but hey we are in Spain! There was a particulary nice dark haired Spanish lady whose English was great and she provided us with directions for the Free Bus to the beach. This ran daily at 9.20, 11.30 & 12.20. Returning 1.30, 2.30 and 3.30pm.
We soon found out there are no decent eateries in the area (do not go to the one across the road from Oasis-it's nasty, cheap food) and I would recommend you go to the beach for a meal at lunch time and then have a snack in the evening for this reason. We found some nice restuarants in the shopping area further up Maspolomas beach. We also visited Samsara (opens after 7pm) for a posh meal-very nice.Best steak my partner has ever had. Only 4-5 Euros in a cab each way.See other reviews.
The room is very basic, with 2 hotplates to cook on. No kettle-take your own.
The fridge /freezer is good though. I also got paint on my feet from the bath, where a dodgy cover up job had been done inside the bath where the scale marks were!!!
The whole complex could do with a major refurb.
The beds in the bedroom were awful. I like a firm bed, but there were overly firm and felt like they had bricks in them, also lumpy. There were horrible plastic undesheets too.
We slept in the loange on the sofa beds which are sponge. No air con, so very hot though.
The pool was lovely, however, some of the blue paint can come off on you when the temperatures go up (I think it was melting?) Keep off the edges and it's fine.
The maids came in every day but Thursdays and Sunday.I'm not sure exactly what they did though as the only thing I noticed was the bed made and the towels were replaced on the Saturday, even though we arrived Monday and left Sunday night. Brooms and mops are provided so you can clean up yourself (the maid doesn't do it).
There is a Spar across the road on your right about 3/4 mins away and if you continue up the road and take the 2nd left before the BIG hotel, follow that down, cross over and there is a great supermarket. This is only about 10 minutes at a slow walk and is very cheap and has everything you need. 8 litres of water can cost 96 cents!I got local wine for less than 2 EUROS and it was nice, even by my 'wine snob standards!
If you want a cheap place to saty and not fussed about sleeping this is ok, but not for anyone with high standards.

Arrived at the hotel and was warmly greeted for my weeks holiday all inclusive , room looked good and clean, dumped the case and went for a drink all good so far on the menu for lunch was pizza, chips, burger, hotdog all cooked fresh but that was the lunch menu every day no salad or side dish's got boring
On my second night i arrived back to my room to find a twenty or more cockroaches running around not nice,I complained to the hotel reception desk were i was given a new room this one was ok but still i was looking to the floor and shower room for the rest of the holiday........ There was no night or day entertainment at all boring again .......The breakfast menu never changed boring........old tired food just reheated throuout the morning.Dinner was slightly better but still boring, bland & tasteless .I would only rate this hotel as a one star , i have visited the maspalomas 5 times love the place but not this hotel .BORING, BORING ,BORING,BORING Low quality food .i think that having to go to other hotels for entertainment is not quite good enough so endith this review.

Do your research before coming here. It's is a good 50 minute walk from Playa de Ingles and the hustle and bustle of night life and the Yumbo Centre. We arrived late about 12.30am - booked in the room - all rooms are twin beds - but seemed comfortable enough. When we woke, we had spectacular view of the Dunes and wasn't overlooked by our neighbours or anyone else. There was a fridge, 2 ring cooker with clean cutlery and cooking amenities. There was a Spar shop about 5 minute away - and a supermacado about 20 minute walk away (this shop had more variety). We went self catering after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor about the quality of the food - and this was confirmed by a couple that were on the same flight as us that also stayed at the Vista Oasis.
The staff at the hotel were mixed in terms of friendliness - the manager seemed to have better people skills than the other members of staff.
It was our first trip to Gran Canaria and on the 4th day - we were told we had to pay for the safe - at no point prior to this was this explained to us or requested of us - nor was this included in their information booklet. We were made to feel we were in the wrong, this coupled with the fact 2 days in to our holiday - we were also then asked to re-submit our accommodation voucher to confirm we were supposed to be in the room even though on the night of arrival they kept my passport overnight and checked us in, we were beginning to feel that we had made the wrong decision.
Some other not so positive points: The bedding wasn't changed all week, there were cockroaches - which we realised was fairly standard in Gran Canaria - you just don't expect them in your room (even though all windows were shut at night) and definitely not one the size of 2 50p piece's roaming around. Ensure you ask for the room to be sprayed pretty much on arrival, and the TV is 10 euro's for the week rental - again nothing mentioned in the information booklets.
Taxi's are a must to get around - though they are relatively cheap between 4.50-5.00 euro's from the Hotel to the Yumbo.
There is a free bus to the Dunes running regularly from the hotel - but last one comes back at 4.30pm. Plenty of time to get roasted. We didn't visit the pool, but it did look nice and clean - even if you can't have a 'play' or use lilo's.
We had friends stay in the centre of Playa De Ingles - and when we compared the accommodation - we did feel we were overcharged for our holiday experience. If you want very basic, and are happy be on the outskirts this is the place for you. However, I can't stress enough - it is basic.
We will be going back to Maspalomas - but we will NOT be staying at the Vista Oasis again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to the dunes!

i read some bad reviews and wondered what i had let myself in for. Me and my hubby booked a last minute bargain trip for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. The hotel was clean, staff were great and i thought the food was excellent considering the price we paid for all inclusive. Good choice each day, along with a salad bar. The bar staff were more than generous with the inclusive drinks. The only downside is that the beach is a good 30 mins if you walk but a taxi is only a few euros. there is also a market each week in walking distance that is great for shopping! All in all was a fab holiday and would certainly go to the vista oasis again!

Just returned from 10 days at Vista Oasis and would never return there again!! The hotel itself was quite nice, pool clean, rooms quite spacious and views really lovely. But unfortunately the bad points outway the good!! Very Rude staff, Food was awful (go to greece or Turkey for AI) no change all week for breakfastand the only change at dinner time was the meat - Liver one night- yuck!! Lunch was ok if you are quite happy with a carb fest every day of burgers/hot dogs and pizza. What we really struggled with was the fact there was no entertainment - not even backround music in the evening in the bar and being kicked out the bar at 11pm on the dot!! Also in the pool there is no noise games, balls allowed, Lilos or FUN!! You have to pay for airhockey and the pool table the only entertainment for children!! If you do decide to go though- take a trip to Aqualand (£4 in taxi away) and also Holiday World( thefun fair!!) 20 Euros will last a while - my kids 9 and 15 loved it, also the beach is lovely. Do your researchwhen booking - we didn,t!! You can get a lot better for the price you pay!!
