“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

This hotel was wonderful. Right from the start the staff were welcoming, cheerful and helpful. The hotel is spacious and exceptionally clean. Food was lovely and varied. Not a chip in sight!! The champagne for breakfast was a luxurious treat each morning at no extra cost! Great location too, near the dunes and also near little coffee shops and restaurants. Felt very safe to wander alone during the day or evenings if we felt like it. Allocation of sun beds on arrival for the duration of stay is such a great idea. The only down side really was the evening entertainment. Pretty much the same duet every evening and they seemed very bored with it too! Having said that, there were nice bars and live entertainment elsewhere. We (myself, my husband and our 20 year old daughter) would definitely stay there again. Excellent!

Room Tip: Our room was very quiet, we had a side sea view, with balcony.

Myself and Boyfriend stayed here in Feb, What a lovely hotel, reception staff were very nice and a great view of the sea from the ground floor, our room was lovely (side sea view) as the sun set that way. (2 loungers was great on the balcony) Rooms were very clean and great hot shower, very comfy beds, just had news channels in English. The buffet food was perfect, so much choice for every type of diet etc. Breakfast was the same, so much to choose from and chefs there for Fresh eggs etc. waiting staff were so nice and helpful and was not rushed after it closed. It was lovely to eat breakfast with a glass off fizz sat outside with the sea in full view. The 100 year old lighthouse to the right was lovely too. It was a very short walk to the shopping center, sand dunes and bus stops. Would definatley reccomend this hotel for couples and families.

Room Tip: Ask for a side sea view to get the sunset

We spent a week at this hotel in Late February and had a really excellent time (good weather too). The hotel is in a fantastic location overlooking the sea at Maspalmomas, within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and the dunes. There is also an easy walk to the bus station where you can catch a bus to Las Palmas or Puerto Mogan (a really lovely fishing port - in fact, we travelled to Peurto Rico by bus and completed the journey by boat). The food was good, and the hotel is very clean throughout.. our only minor critisisms were: Although there were lots of TV channels avialable, English speakers only had news, and the hotel operate a sunbed reservation system (we preseume to stop 'towels at dawn').. but this meant that lots of beds were unoccupied throughout each day (and sometimes in the shade).

The hotel must bi in the best location in Maspalomas, right by the sea and in walking distance to lots of places to wander and good local restaurants. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. The breakfast buffet is superb almost everything you could possibly want to eat.
The pool was heated which made it very pleasant and the allocation of sunbeds meant you knew there would be one for you without all that early morning rush to reserve a place in the sun.
We will be going back an ideal place for some early sunshine without too long a flight and we could travel from our local airport, next year we might even go for two weeks.

Room Tip: Rooms with a side view of the sea are best, preferably facing the lighthouse

Just returned from 2 weeks at Ifa Faro Hotel. Unfortunately the weather was poor for a lot of the time, with a gale force storm on one day, so there was limited opportunity to use the pool/poolside, but we were very pleased with the idea of allocated sun loungers which avoided the problem of a race for the best seats every fine morning!
We had a side sea view which was fine. We looked at a sea view room but the extra cost is really excessive when you don't spend a lot of time in the room anyway.
The room layout is strange!! the toilet has a frosted glass door, and is very small, and shower surround is all frosted glass, which allows no privacy for those who prefer it.
Most of the guests were either German or Scandinavian.
The hotel staff were all friendly and as helpful as possible within the constraints of their system. The problem area is the dining room - particularly at breakfast. Nobody greets you and shows you to a table, so you have to find a free one. No tables seem to be set up, so we usually had to sit at a used table and try to attract a waiter to set it up - which often took up to 10 minutes, but then they are sometimes too enthusiastic!. On one classic "Fawlty Towers" situation, we had our table set up, and I had taken my bacon and eggs and bread to the table, but went back for butter, only to find my meal, cutlery and crockery had been cleared when I returned, and I had to start trying to attract a waiter all over again!!!
The waiting staff do work hard, but without obvious supervision. One typical waste of their time is getting tea for the guests, when it is just as easy for them to get their own. A helpful gesture, necessary in a few cases, but poor use of their time.
Having had a moan, there are many good points!
The rooms and all areas of the hotel are very clean.
The evening entertainment is quite good.
The pool looks very clean
The choice of food is excellent, catering for all nationalities.
The location is excellent, with access to walks, dunes and sandy beach.
Overall a very pleasant experience.

Room Tip: We found our side sea view room on the south west side excellent because it got the sun in late afte...

Just returned from a week`s stay at this hotel which was totally relaxing thanks to the excellent staff. From arriving to leaving we were treated with courtesy. The hotel was probably the cleanest hotel I have every stayed in. In fact the whole resort was very clean. The wide variety of food in this hotel was superb. The allocation of sunbeds on arrival was an excellent idea. We were even asked what time we would like our room to be cleaned. Excellent views from our bedroom with sunloungers on the balcony. Would recommend this hotel to anybody wanting a relaxing holiday

The hotel is like so many others with nothing exceptional good or bad. The lobby is well appointed and all general areas are clean and smart. During a weeks stay we only saw about five people in the pool but it was quite windy. One of us requires a glutten and wheat free diet and despite telling our agent and taking a slip of paper translated into Spanish asking for guidance and showing it to various members of the catering staff no help was forthcoming which was a huge pity because the food display was excellent and invited lots of 'tries' but we had to play safe. There was a storm during our stay and water came through the closed balcony doors resulting in a sizeable wet patch on the carpet and the balcony lounger cushions being soaked.
No change of room was available so they put down towels and took away the cushions. The carpet remained damp for the rest of our stay and when we asked for replacement cushions we were given ones that were wet (probably the same ones). No apology from the management was offered or so much as a complimentary bottle of wine with our meal. I think the measure of any business is how it deals with things that go wrong. A hotel with a rating that this one has should have reacted better. Having said all that the location is fine and the food and dining service is excellent.

Dear customer, first we would like to apologize for the inconvenience that occurred on your last stay. unfortunately we have had a very strong storm on the island of Gran Canaria, the strength of this storm is unusual at this time, which is why we were not prepared for so much wind and rain, we are sorry what happened on the balcony in your room with everything wet. Secondly also want to apology for what happened with your diet without glutten, it has had to be a misunderstanding because we always have our gluten-free products for our customers. Reiterating my apologies, I hope to see you again at the hotel and asked to contact the manager on your next stay.
