“We will return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

We spent quite some time researching & selecting hotels before deciding on this one. It was well worth the effort. Perfectly located next to the old Lighthouse, and in walking distance to the beach and new Meloneras development of restaurants, shops & hotels. In the other direction lays the well known Maspalomas beach & sand dunes. The hotel lived up to its rating. Great food, nicely presented. All areas were spotlessly clean with the staff pleasant and helpful at all times.
The sunbed allocation system is brilliant. At this time of year the sunbeds on the hotel side see the most sun. Our room 1125 facing north-east did not see the sun, but did have (just) a view of the beach & dunes.
We enjoyed a wonderful holiday and will return.

Room Tip: Pool & sea-facing rooms are superior, but at considerable extra cost.

“Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

We have just returned after 11 nights at this hotel and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We are a youngish couple and found the majority of guests to be older German couples and so not really anyone to chat to. On the other hand we went away to relax totally and that's what we did! The 'entertainment' was poor but there are lots of bars etc in strolling distance and can especially recommend 'the 19th hole.'
The location of the hotel is absolutely fantastic. Right on the sea front next to the lighthouse. We sat and watched the sea both at breakfast and dinner. My partner has mobility problems and its lovely and flat so we were Able to get out, there are some really nice shops a short distance away too.
The food was excellent, breakfast was varied and delicious with champagne if you wished. dinner was also varied with several meat and fish choices and also enough to satisfy a vegetarian im sure. Both fish and the meat was perfectly cooked every time.
All the staff (except one grumpy waiter) were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. The service was a little slow but we weren't in any hurry.
The reception staff were brilliant and moved us rooms as soon as they could, when the outlook of our first room was of the air con of neighbouring bars. Both the rooms we had were spacious, simply and nicely furnished and immaculately cleaned every day. The small minibar was nice and there was enough room to put milk in, although there were no tea/coffee making facilities which we would have appreciated.
The pool is very clean and barely used particilarly as there were no children staying. The sun loungers are allocated to you throughout your whole stay, what a fantastic idea. The poolside managers were very helpful putting up and moving parasols as we needed.
The entertainment guy, Pete had a fab sense of humour when trying to cajole us into a game if darts or bingo! (I'm afraid it wasn't for us but nice if you like that sort of thing!)
We will very much look forward to returning to the hotel. We would have given it 4.5 if we could have!

“Great Hotel ,Great location, have a great time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

My wife and I have just spent a week in this hotel ,it is rated as a 4 star and it really lives up to its billing ,from the moment we arrived the staff were more than helpful .we got there after the restaurant had closed for the evening meal but they had prepared a very nice meat and seafood salad with drinks all served with smiling faces .Our cases were taken to our room ,we did not have a sea view but still more than suprised at the size and standard of our accommodation ,tastefully furnished and fully carpeted throughout .A mini bar was in the room but not with astronomical prices as was the same with the safe ,your keycards also acted as a hotel credit card so no money changed hands when purchasing drinks or extra meals in the hotel .The food was of a high standard with a good variety and plenty of it ,the dining room was a very nice place to be in also you could eat outside if you prefered ,all the public areas had plenty of seating and very spacious. The area is bulit up but its all done in a very sympathetic way with an excellent selection of high end shops a short walk across the road ,its also a great place for a stroll after diner .The beach is accessed through the pool area via a glass door which is locked at night ,you pick your poolside sunbeds at the start of your holiday and these are yours for the length of your stay wether you use them or not ,the pool area is also well laid out and screened from the path by glass panels .
All the staff we had reason to speak to were brilliant and very helpful ,from the maid who cleaned your room to the manager .
This hotel has standards which we have not found in some 5 star hotels ,I cannot recommend it highly enough ,we shall certainly be going back ,we are mature travellers and have stayed in over 50 hotels worldwide and this one is in the top 3 .

Room Tip: Try to get a seaview if you can.

“Great views, lovely staff, comfy beds.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

When we arrived and approached the check in area, we could see the sea as we spoke to the receptionist. We knew our holiday had officially began.................

The hotel is situated on a lovely clean beach !

We are a group of four couples. We idi not want disco's, loud music or tacky shops. This is the reason we chose this location. It's the perfect spot if you want, peace, quite, walks along a golden sandy beach and be within a five min walk of some really good restaurants.

This hotel is not full of posh chandeliers, luxury leather sofas or flash. ( There are plenty of those hotel's nearby,)
What it offers is spotless clean rooms, wonderful staff, sea views to die for, cheap tasty lunches, comfy large beds and a great pool. There are comfy chairs to sit on next to the bar area, whilst watching the sun goes down.
Hey, where else could you sip champagne for breakfast with the sound and view of the sea directly in front of you.
Breakfast is typical fruit, cereal, cold meat, etc. Though the girl on the egg counter makes the most tasty ommlettes.

If your in the mood, day time entertainment is available, table tennis, aqua aerobics, quizzes etc.

My only niggles would be -

No cocktail bar menu in english ( we asked the bar man )

A small charge to use the safe. A bit cheeky.

Provide no irons and charge to iron clothes. Again a little cheeky.

These small niggles would not put me off returning. Thanks staff for a great today !!!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view. For a little extra when you arrive, you can up grade if you want...

thank you very much for your comment that it has a great interest to us, we will consider your words about the bar's menu not in english leanguage.. On the other hand, we have irons and iron-boards for customers but are not available in the rooms, just must be ordered at reception and in a few minutes you get it in the room.

“Wonderful holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

Ifa Faro Hotel was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. We arrived late due to the wait at the airport for the coach transfer so missed our evening meal. However we were offered a cold meat and cheese selection and drinks and as we were tired this was enough as we just wanted to sleep.
We were told by the desk staff that we had been upgrated to a Junior suite on the 5th floor right in the centre of the row with the most wonderful sea view you could ever wish for. It was so spacious and very very nice.

At breakfast the choice was vast, including champagne and catered for all tastes.Evening meals were also great with so much to choose from.

On our first morning we met the pool man who found us two sun beds and parasol and booked them to us for our weeks stay which is a brilliant idea. We used the pool area on most days at some time in the day. Another great plus to this hotel is that you can just walk out of the hotels glass door onto the beach, go for a dip in the sea and then walk back, use the shower and back on your sun bed to dry out.

The hotel staff were all very friendly and greeted you with smiles. We frequented the bar on most evenings for a cocktail and to watch the entertainment. Most other guests preferred to sit on the outside terrace but we sat inside to watch the singing duos who sang a range of songs in german, english and spanish to cater for all guests. The magician, and acrobats were brilliant and the fashion shows were interesting although the prices were way out of our purse strings.

As a bonus the lighthouse which is right next to the hotel was used to illuminate a 3d light show while we were there and entertainment provided by the Canarian Government band and to end the show, a firework display. Couldnt believe we had all this on our door step.

I would strongly recommend staying at the IFA Faro Hotel if you want an Adults only get away from it all holiday. Maspalomas is low key with lots of very nice restaurants though some are very expensive but for a week, its nice to treat yourselves.

Room Tip: 4th or 5th floor with sea view.
