“A really nice hotel and holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

I booked a very last minute break here from 21-28th March on an AI basis. Having read a few reviews beforehand the hotel is indeed in a very quiet residential area. This was fine for me as i just wanted to chill out and relax. There was a free bus to the beach for guests which was very useful if you did want to venture out. Staff were friendly and helpful always. Food was very nice with a good selection and variety at all meals. I also thought the snack bar by the pool was great. Rooms are comfy and there was plenty of wardrobe space with lots of hangers too. No hairdryer tho. Cleaners were very thorough and came daily. I went by local bus to puerto mogan 4.15euros each way which is such a pretty place and well worth visiting. I thought this was an excellent 3* hotel with a very good AI deal. I would definitely go again. The weather was wonderful too.

My better half & I stayed here for a week at the end of March. We were on a tight budget & I was dubious about the 3* but I was pleasantly surprised & should never have worried!
Our room was clean & well kept, there was no hair dryer though & I had to rent one which cost €12 for the week (+€10 deposit) & it was rubbish!
We went all in. & the food was fine, could have been a little more varied though. Not a good place for vegetarians I must add! Self service beer & wine meant a lot less queuing at bars!
The shuttle to the beach was ideal, beautiful beach & dunes.
The pool area was ok, lots of Germans, lots of towel reserved sun beds but we generally always managed to get 2 together.
The bar staff are wonderful, topping up drinks without us even having to order, a very merry holiday! We caught a couple of nights of the entertainment which was pretty good.
The reception staff were a little hit & miss, some of them guess or make up answers to questions about the area so make sure to check online for something rather than ask them! However there is no free wifi so use the computers as they are much cheaper! Daniel on reception was great though, so easy to deal with.
Overall a great holiday & a good hotel.

Still here at Dunas Maspalomas, 4 April 2014. Hotel is ok, rooms as others say basic. TV but limited channels, no hairdryer, no kettle etc. Towels changed every 2 days !! You can get a hot drink in the restaurant at breakfast but otherwise you have to go to the pool bar every time you want a cup of tea etc, annoying. Also you cannot fill a water bottle up unless you do it when no-one looking. Wifi 18 euros for the week, no pool towels but can rent for 1 euro per day plus 10 euro deposit, just go round to the shop on the first road right of the hotel and you can buy a towel for 4.5 euros.or 3 for 12 euros. Staff in restaurant very nice, helpful and pleasant, maitre d'or not so a bit of a stickler, told my 14 year old grandson he had to wear a tea shirt with sleeves. Lots of school children visiting and I mean lots, they are not supervised properly so just running around after the evening meal. We have heard also no food etc after 12.00pm when you need to check out but we will stay by the pool. Not allowed to get a sunbed till after 9.00am, silly petty rule and a guy to enforce it too. We have enjoyed it though and would come again but to a different hotel. Beware the trips from the rep, Thomson we were with, Night cinema, second viewing starts at 10.30pm, also Aqualand cheaper to but tickets online and if you email tickets to hotel they will print them out, no charge. Taxis are very cheap too and fro so if there is 3 or 4 of you cheaper to travel by taxi.

Room Tip: we were on F108, terrible view, just by service entrance, others in F 501 at the top and good pool v...

We have just returned 29.03.14 from a week AI holiday. On booking we was told the hotel was not in the centre of town which didn't bother us as there is a free bus to the beach although taxi's are cheap we paid 2.60 euro.
The hotel is very clean and staff friendly the rooms are basic but we didn't travel all that way to sit in our room.
There are plenty of sun loungers around the pool which is also very clean.
There was 4 animation staff working around the pool which was always friendly and polite offering entertainment throughout the day.
The pool bar staff where fantastic friendly and enjoyed chatting when serving, the snack bar was mostly the same food every day but the choice of burgers, hot dogs, pizza, toasted sandwiches chips and salad bar.
The restaurant was very busy and the food was lovely I was a bit nervous as previous AI holidays the food had not been too good. The staff where always replenishing food before it ran out.
We really enjoyed our stay and hoping to go back later in the year.

Room Tip: we was on third floor block D Quiet and balcony onto street but full sun all day

Just arrived home ( 29/3/14) from this hotel.
1. Very clean
2. Friendly helpful staff
3. Rooms basic. TV. no hair dryer or fridge. Hair dryer can be hired 12 euros + 10 euros deposit.
4. All inc. beer, wine, soft drinks & tea & coffee just help urself so no queuing, only problem they are all at the pool bar so if a little cold & windy not that suitable. Could do with an indoor area.
5. Restaurant more like a café area. Food very good and plentiful soon replenished when empty.
6. Location not brill not much around apart from residential homes. About 40 minute walk to beach or there's the free shuttle bus during the day but the last bus back from beach finishes at 4.30pm.
7. Entertainment not that good an odd few nights and the usual once seen they all seem the same.
8. Good pool area and plenty of sun beds & brollies. Make sure u get on the right side of the pool if u want the sun most of the day. Beach towels can also be hired. ( think was 1 euro per day + deposit. )
9. BEWARE if ur checking out at 12 noon and u have a late flight u will be asked to pay 10 euros per person to continue to use the facilities etc pool area, pool bar, & restaurant. This is something we have never had to do before and I can only see this as a money making exercise due to the location and area as there's no competition around where u could go for food & drinks.
Overall not bad for a cheeky wk but wouldn't go back again due to the above reasons. Wouldn't also have minded so much if we had got the cost of the holiday at a very cheap price.

Dear Guest,
thank you for your comments and evaluation.
Much to our pleasure we acknowledge that you are satisfied with many points you mention, and it is very important and great motivation for us all.
As to the negative issue about the all inclusive extra charge on the last day, we would like to remind that all inclusive stops at checkout time, which is 12 noon on departure day. We have stated a very good price to keep on having all in after that time, we think it is very much worth the money, as it gives you the possibility to acceed the restaurant, lunch, pool bar, drinks, snacks, sandwiches, ice creams, all of this until departure time, so if you check out at night we think it is even more cheap!! We assure it is not money making excersize, actually it is trying to make it easy for our guests to enjoy our services on the last day.
We thank you once again, and hope this will clarify your doubts and explain our good intentions,
best regards,
Antonio Cabrera

We visited this hotel in Feb and had a lovely holiday.
Hotel was very clean.
Plenty choice of food.
Staff very nice and friendly. They were lovely with my 16 month old Son too.
Kids entertainment was good on a night, but a bit too wild for my toddler. There was no one really to rein the kids in before and after the kids disco (even though the parents should really be doing that). The kids seemed to think it was ok to race round with chairs and no one stopped them and my Son was knocked over a few times.
Be careful if you visit the beach, we were targetted by African Women, who managed to seperate me and my husband with the kids and would not let us pass, they put bracelets on us we did not want and demanded money and when we said no, another woman came over and said 'you will give Africa money now' and they blocked me from seeing my toddler in the pram. Very intimidating and scary and basically its a way of robbing us. This happened to a number of families we spoje to at the hotel. I think everyone should be warned of this as part of the welcome meetings.

Overall the hotel was lovely.

Just returned (24/3/14) from a weeks AI holiday. First of all if your requirments are luxury rooms, fine dining and waiter service, book into a 5 star hotel because the Mirador offers good family/couples hols with excellent basic services at low cost prices ( see Linda R review: a very good 3 star hotel) such as beer/soft drinks/tea/coffee on tap, just help yourself, no waiting for waiter service, Entertainment consisted of one night the in-house entertainment teams show, the next night professional entertainment, who where brilliant during my week plus through the day you can relax or join in the many daytime activities which are for adults and youngsters plus the smaller children have their own club and disco. Control of the sunbeds is excellent, no-one is allowed to put anything on any bed until 9am, this gives everybody the same opportunity to get one. Ourselves used the Mirador as a base going out on trips/site seeing through the day, the dolphin trip from Puerto Rico is a must as is a visit to Puerto Magan or a trip to the hills to see the cave dwellers. There is a free bus to the beach where you can walk to Playa del Ingles if you want but the way we looked at things is the money we saved by booking this a little out the way hotel we spent some of it on cheap taxi`s. You can walk to a very good local market (Wed. & Sat.) in about 15 mins, turn left out the hotel, go to the roundabout, turn right go down the hill to the roundabout, turn left and walk with a beautiful park on your right at the next roundabout turn right with the park still on your right and the market is on your left, better still cross through the park with its lake. You can also walk to a new shopping centre, turn right out of the hotel, take the next right within 20 yards, past some shops and bars to the Spar supermarket, there walk on the paths under the underpass the shopping centre is only about 200 yards away, max 10/15 min walk. we stayed in room A110 and had the sun all afternoon which suited us but if you do have any complaints report then to reception asap and if their not sorted, go and see the guest support team who`s office is beside the reception desk and gift shop and they will sort it, do not let them fester and spoil your hols. Take a hair dryier and a travel kettle if you like a morning cuppa also something warm to wear at night because believe it or not after beautiful sunny days it get very cold at night around the pool bar
