A truly lovely hotel with excellent staff which is architecturally superb in a very quiet part of Meloneros. The staff are second to none, always smiling whilst interacting with clients or each other and nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant is superbly run by the maitre d's and the staff are very attentive. The food is excellent. We recommend this hotel 100%.

Room Tip: Ask for level 3 or above.

We love Gran Canaria and although the weather was not wall to wall sun shine it was just lovely to get away, especially at this time of year. Although we took 5 1/2 hours to get home from Gatwick. We originally were going to stay at the Lopesan Costa Meloneras which we adored. Unfortunately the price of the holiday shot up in less than the space of 6 hours - needless to say we were a little upset so we just trusted the reviews for the H10 Playa Meloneras Palace and we were just so delighted. The hotel was lovely.

The space between the sun loungers and adult only area a complete revaluation + the fantastic staff. The rooms spotless and everything seems effortless. I cannot recommend this hotel enough - its smaller and far more intimate, fantastic location with a quiet classiness. We just loved it.

Room Tip: Rooms on a higher floor are good for views

From the moment we arrived with a refreshing glass of bubbly to the time we left we were extremely pleased with this hotel. Our room on the fourth floor had a lovely balcony and sea and pool view which we didn't expect. The room and bathroom were of a very high standard with all essentials provided in the bathroom. We found all of the staff charming especially in the restaurant where the attention to service was exemplary. I particularly enjoyed the banter with the staff who all seemed to be Manchester United supporters and as they were playing (and losing to a Spanish team) during our stay the language barrier seemed to disappear. The buffet food was continually being replaced with "fresher" food and the choice was excellent. Particularly impressive was the choice of breads at breakfast and again the bubbly was "on tap" which was a great start to the day. The wicker daybeds have been mentioned in other reviews and they really are fantastic and comfortable and can shelter you from the wind which is invariably blowing. There are plenty of activities provided for those who want them.
A couple of tips for you:-
1) Although the walk along the promenade in to Maspalomas is enjoyable the walk back may be a little too far for some people. Get a taxi. It cost 2.5 euros.
2) Ask at reception for tea/coffee in your room. It costs 4 euros a day and they provide you with a tray with kettle, milk, sugar and copious supplies of teas and coffee. It is well worth it.
Although we don't tend to return to the same hotel we may just make an exception in the case of the H10

Room Tip: Get a room on as high a floor as possible and on the east side of the hotel. The ground floor rooms...

We are delighted with this hotel. The location is lovely. Quiet and away from the busy centre, but only a super 15 mins walk along by the sea to the dunes. Staff friendly and efficient. Food varied and of a high standard. Huge interestingly shaped pool plus an infinity pool, not well heated though! Design of hotel is delightfully inspired by Gaudi.

Room Tip: Not really worth paying for sea view as other rooms face garden or pool.

Dear mfeakin,

thanks for your comments on tripadvisor. We are pleased that you spent a nice holiday in our H10 Playa Meloneras Palace and that you enjoyed our food and facilities.

Concerning your comments about the temperatures of our pool we understand that the thermic sensation in winter times is cold but our Infinity Pool is properly heated as by the Spanish regulation (between 22º and 24ºC)

We hope to welcome you soon again.

With best regards,

Interesting design and couldn't fault the cleanliness and efficiency of this large hotel. Took several days to find our way around and found it somewhat impersonal. It would have been very helpful to have been given a basic guide to the hotel either by reception staff at check in or sign posting around the grounds. Disappointed that the pools were too cold to swim in but liked the fact that sun beds could not be reserved before 10am.
Problems with wi fi connection thought our 10 day stay.
Delightful position with lovely easy walk to shops and restaurants
Weather ok. Windy most of the time, tendency to be cooler and overcast in the mornings becoming hotter by lunchtime.
Food good and but am not keen on buffet style eating on such a large scale. However could not fault the service or staff.

Dear Annie V,

We are delighted to learn your positive feedback about your stay. We would like to sincerely thank you for your kind words regarding our service.

The heated swimming is at the maximum temperature it is allowed, but we understand that in February, the feeling is that it is not warm enough. We would like to apologize for the problems with the WiFi. Our free Wifi has a new system just installed that gave us problems in the first days.

We hope to welcome you again in a near future. If you need assistance with your next stay, do not hesitate to contact us.

Best regards,

Equipo H10 Playa Meloneras Palace*****

I delayed writing this review pendingthe outcome of my complaint with Thomas Cook regarding the inability of this hotel to provide a privilege room/facility which I paid for. When I made the booking with Thomas Cook it was on the understanding that they could supply a privilege room with disabled facilities for my mother who was using a mobility scooter. When we arrived, I realised immediately that the room we had was not a privilege room and the hotel then told me that any room could be a privilege room as although our room had the standard room decor, the rooms were all the same size. They explained that they referred to it as a priviege facility as opposed to a privilege room. We had not option but to accept this on the understanding that we took it up with Thomas Cook upon our return to the UK. We had to constantly ask for our tea/coffee facilities to be replenished throughout our 3 week stay and despite the numerous meetings with Hande, the Customer Services Manager things did not improve. The Gaudi restaurant has a limited menu i.e 7 starters, mains & deserts which is changed every 3 months. The restaurant lacks atmosphere and is usually staffed by 1 maybe 2 staff due to the lack of diners. The buffet restaurant has plenty of variety of food and the staff are very friendly but the downside is that it is very busy and more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. The hotel has large bed like sun beds and although we did not wish to use them, they are quickly occupied at sun rise. We could observe from our balcony couples either taking turns to go to breakfast separately or waiting until 10am (the time when towels could be left on unoccupied beds) to breakfast together. The remainder of the bedswere very poor for a 5 star hotel and were mainly faded and dirty looking with no mattresses. There is a good selection of 3 outdoor pools. The indoor pool is fun but the gym has old equipment. The hotel is a good 20min walk from the main area of Meloneras which has some good quality shops and restaurants. There is a retail development opposite the hotel but most of the units are boarded up. Although the Thomas Cook brochure describes the location as peaceful, my description is isolated. The evening entertainment was generally very good but if you use the Guadi restaurant you can hear all of the entertainment including the kids disco!! whilst dining.
I would not recommend the hotel for anybody with mobilty issues as the floors are mainly accessed by stairs and the lifts are not in central positions. Thomas Cook have taken from October, to supposedly, to look into my complaint with the outcome that they have basically just thanked me for my feedback. I would not return to this hotel, neither will I use Thomas Cook again but if you enjoy a holiday camp type atmosphere with busy buffet style service this may the place for you.

Room Tip: Do not pay the extra for the privilege facility
