“Great stay at Maspalomas Princess”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2014

Came home yesterday after 14 days at Princess. Excellent time, very clean, staff lovely, only half or full board in this hotel - mirror image Taurito Princess next door is all inclusive and share pools etc with them. Always plenty of empty sunbeds in spite of those nearest warm pool being "reserved" before breakfast each morning - who cares, you're on holiday.Food excellent - both quality and quantity, the reviewer who said it was all inclusive is mistaken, that is the "twin" hotel the Taurito. Can go between the two to chose the entertainment or sit in the piano bar. Only criticism is the cost of wifi (6 euros a day or 19 euros a week) and the fact you have to pay for the hotel safe. These fairly basic requirements should be free. Also entertainment was a bit off on some nights - not too good quality. Stayed in Bahia Princess in Tenerife and entertainment was spot on there. Lovely 25 minute walk to the beach and sand dunes - could be too far with young kids and no pushchairs but taxi back to hotel is 3 euros 50 so cheaper than the bus. Always taxis outside hotel, bus stops nearby, can get almost anywhere by bus. Can highly recommend moonlight cinema in Maspalomas. Will definitely return to this hotel. Lots of young children in hotel but no problems, not excessive noise, no problems with them in dining room. Had between 21 and 25 degrees all week, what bliss in January.

Room Tip: First floor overlooking pools - quiet. Spoke to other people, all seemed pleased with their room loc...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2014

We stayed in the Maspalomas Princess from 11-18 January 2014. It was just myself and my other half and we are both 41.

On arrival at the hotel, it looks very impressive. We didnt' realise there was another hotel right next door!

Check in was quick and very efficient. We arrived at approximately 9 pm and quickly took our luggage up to the room and headed down for something to eat. We were impressed that they were actually still serving food at this time and not trying to get you out the door! The waiter who greeted us on arrival in the dining hall realised we had just arrived and he was very welcoming. The food was only available on one side, however, each side serves exactly the same. There was plenty of choice and I was surprised to see strawberries which I've never had abroad before!

The accommondation was clean and suited our needs just fine.

We never used the outdoor pool or sunbeds. We tended to go walking during the days and stayed in the hotel in the evening.

The found the location of the hotel to be just fine. We would walk to Melonares and walked to Playa Del Ingles (a long walk mind you!). This is what we enjoy and never got a taxi once. Melonares is very nice and we had lunch in a few of the restaurants here. There is also a shopping centre selling designer (real) goods. There is also a "Moonlight Cinema" in Melonares which we wanted to visit as it looked great, however, we just didn't fancy the films they were showing at the time. It's got a great review on Trip Advisor too and it's not too far away.

We found the bar staff in the hotel to be very friendly. The happy hour is from 5-6pm but doesn't include cocktails which I prefer. We also tried a new drink "Ron Miel" honey rum which is delicious (in small doses lol!).

The entertainment was ok. It's probably the best we've experienced in a hotel for a while as the entertainment in the Turkish hotels we've visited has been terrible!

We met up with a couple who were staying all inclusive at the hotel next door and what a difference there was in service etc! This is the first time we have gone half board for a few years and I really don't think we would go all inclusive again ... you do notice a difference!

You are able to use the hotel next door but you have to pay for your drinks. The entertainment next door is also on for a longer period of time than in our hotel. The dining hall is shared by both hotels but there is a separator but you can easily go in and out of both. The pool and sunbeds is also shared by both hotels but there seemed plenty to go around. The man made beach is also a great idea as you're not near the beach. The hotel grounds themselves are also lovely and well kept.

The weather was perfect for us .. .between 22-26°C. We had one of the larger end rooms (1108) and it had 2 sunbeds and a table/chairs on the balcony - perfect! It also had twin sinks in the bathroom which was also very large. We were in room 1168 to begin with but got moved. When we were in this room 1168, we found it very noisy with parents allowing their children to run up and down the corridors!! Not something I would allow my child to do as we have respect for other people!

We would return to this hotel in the future but it would be few years as we like to visit different areas.

I would certaintly recommend this resort - great food, great service, clean rooms and a good location!

Second visit. January weather ok. Food fine. Staff great. Clean spacious. Pool area good. Rooms top standard.
Could do with pruning a few trees to let in sun to ground floor balconies. Please make it a no smoking hotel.
WiFi much better now. Twenty Euro a week. Entertainment basic to good.
Resort a bit tired and not much to do, but hotel fine for a week.
Thomson travel ok. With transfers and the Stansted experience a long day for kiddies.

Room Tip: Ground floor in the bushes!, first floor better. West side for evening sun.

We stayed at the Maspalomas Princess Hotel a few years ago when it was not all inclusive and I must say that the standard has gone down now that it is all inclusive. There is not enough staff anywhere in the hotel. In the dining-room at breakfast the tables were not cleared very quickly as there are not enough staff; when you want a drink in the main bar you wait for ages as there is usually only one or two bar staff etc. etc. We reported the hand rail in our bathroom was falling off the wall - it was then removed and never put back! The hotel is spotlessly clean, including the rooms but the general standard is poor. Will not be going back.

Room Tip: The top floor in the centre are very nice.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the beach, having stayed at various other locations in this area before. If you are a young family this would be a good place to holiday but for a couple you may find it touch noisy, especially at meal times, all depending on where in the restaurant you are seated and if there was a boisterous family nearby! Food selection was adequate and catered for most tastes, so the evening meal was a functional event rather than a relaxing experience. Our room was on the top floor and was clean and well maintained, it could be noisy in the corridor out side with children running up and down, which seemed to be a favourite game with most. The evening entertainment was fine and we enjoyed two or three evenings in, it was well advertised so easy to choose which appealed. We tended to spend the days at the beach, but did have one day at the poolside, as per usual loungers are reserved from early morning in the sunny spots, we found however plenty spare over at the back on the beach area and it was fairly quiet apart from some traffic on the nearby road. All in all we would not return as a couple but maybe if we were taking our grandchildren for a holiday we might choose to go again. I have to say in closing the staff are excellent and well trained in customer service.
