“What a Great Holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2009

We have just come back from staying at El Palmeral Bungalows and I would like to say what a great time we all had.
The El Palmeral bungalows are very basic, although always very clean - bins and towels emptied every other day. The pool and surrounding areas were always kept very clean and tidy and we never had any problems getting a sunbed whether we went down early in the morning or lunchtime.
I took my 18 month old son with me and he had a great time in the pool, they have a kids pool which is only 1ft deep but the main pool is also surrounded by a 1ft wide 2" deep of water and my son loved playing in there until he got more confident and went into the kids pool.
There was no entertainment in the complex but the staff were very pleasant and the barman Karim was very helpful and also cooked basic foods for you.
They also have shared computer if you want to check your emails or surf the internet which they charged 1euro per 15 minutes, which I thought was reasonable.
Only people with keys could get into the complex when the main gates were shut in the evening which was reassuring.
The El Palmeral is ideally situated, with a 3 minute walk to the Faro 2 which has several restaurants and bars which we tried out quite a few and had some lovely meals.
The taxis are cheap 3 euros approx to the beach or into Playa De Ingles.
Local supermarkets nearby which was handy.
Overall a good holiday and would certainly go back again. (tomorrow if I could)

We arrived early hours on Sunday 15th and was greeted by a very nice man with good english who showed us to our bungalow (No.3). We unpacked and got some shut eye. Woke up later to a fabulous and brilliant blue sky and a lovely 28 degree warmth. Then we had a look around the property we were in. A bit of let down, it would benefit from an overall paintjob and a new bathroom suite replacement as well as the installation of aircon but it was clean and the beds were comfortable.

The complex was in a good posistion with the Faro 2 shopping centre just around the corner with a nice selection of shops. Good places to eat, Chinese Royal I would recommend to anyone great food, good prices. El Nublo on ground level brilliant breakfast selection, Micheal Angelo (Italian) the Chicken with Mushrooms in a cream sauce.

Good flat walk to the Lighthouse in Maspalomas and round the beach area, would recommend Paddy's Bar on the beach, good prices and nice people. The bar at the complex was normal prices. We were surpised because the normally they charge a fortune but happy hour was great (BOGOF) on all drinks.

We had a good relaxing time, great weather and met some nice people Sarah and Steven, Brian, his wife and little boy and Willie and missis. Hope you all got home ok.

For the price we paid during peak holiday time and if they updated the bungalows

We stayed 1 week from 3-10 of April 2009 with our 2 young kids.
This is not suitable for child families at all.
In the bath enamel is broken, so there is rust in the bath coach.
Cupboards in the kitchen is about to fall down when you pull the handless.
There is a 10" television, which you have to pay to use.
Sofa was a box mattress, where the springs were so tender that you ended up on the concrete when you sat down.

We are 2 audults and 2 children, therefore we got a weekend bed for the baby and the we needed a spare bed to oldest boy. but it was newer made.
This resulted in that we had to sleep together 3 persons in a "double bed", which was 2 single beds, which were put together.
We were told that the spare bed was supossed to be the sofa, but the mattress was so bad that we could just as well be on the floor. We asked them to find a better mattress for us, but they never did.
It might as well be the same, because no one should sleep in a ant-hill.
My wife was on the sofa one night and suddenly she had ants all over her. And this was where our son was suppossed to have slept. It was just lucky they did not come with a better mattress.

As a family with youngster, you have a trolly, but you cannot come in through the main entrance with the trolly as there are 10 steps. We had to lift it up every time.

Pool was the most positive aspect of the hotel, but the paint is peeling of in the childrens pool, so it was not luxury.

It is very close to the Faro2 shopping centre, with good shopping opportunities. The first restaurant, when you go up the electric stairs is quite good.

My boyfriend and I went to El Palmeral Bungalows in March last year, and would definitely recommend!

The resort was beautiful. The pool was a bit chilly (not heated) but then again we did go in March! Once we were in, it was lovely and refreshing.

The staff were AMAZING - the reception staff were very helpful, telling us good places to go and calling taxis for us, and the bar staff were so great! They were fun and efficient, and VERY generous with the drinks (Vodka with a splash of orange juice, anybody?!) .

The cleaners were very friendly and efficient, also respectful of privacy, which is very important.

The night activities were brilliant - we couldn't ask for more!

There was a big shopping centre about a 2 minute walk away, which was great for restaurants, bakery, or those all important spare batteries for your camera! There was also a cash machine, and a supermarket if you fancy eating in.

The little shop on site was perfect for water and morning croissants, but beware the Spanish opening hours!

It was a bit of a hike to the beach, which we didn't mind but probably not recommended for young children. The taxis are dirt-cheap, though, so it was definitely not an issue at all!

I would recommend avoiding the typical English / Irish bars and seek out the traditional Spanish bars, where it's cheaper and much more worthwhile. You don't have to fly anywhere to sit in a bar served by British people and drink Guinness!!

Also, the nearby 'Aqualand' is worth a trip, especially for kids (or big kids, like us!). As I said before, taxis are so cheap, you'd be daft to hire a car!

I'm sure we will be returning very soon, it was a fantastic week away!

on arriving at el pf almeral after reading some awful reviews we honestly thought oh no. but i dont see what the fuss was about. apartments basic but very good value for money considering we only paid £180 for the week. point to note though is the apartments are not i repeat not big enough for 4 adults so dont even thinkl about it. we had bungalow number 78 right by the pool well aprox 20 feet to be exact i you like. and about 25 feet from the bar. perfect lol. the bungalows are 2 mins walk to faro 2 centre with shops bars and restraunts so no complaints there. oh and for all of you who complain about the cats......... dont bother them and they wont bother you. get a life..... its only a cat. would deffinatly return to el palmeral for a relaxing spring break but if its busy pubs and clubs you are after then i would suggest playa del ingles or peurto rico.

We had a terrible stay at el Palmeral. When we arrived we were unable to get into the hotel as the main gate was locked and the night guard wouldn't unlock it! Eventually got in and shown to our room. It smelt, there were ants everywhere and no windows...it was like the black hole of calcutta. We were unable to change rooms and were next to reception so it was very noisy. Our sheets were not chnaged for the duration of our stay.

The pool and pool bar were nice but these hardly made up for the hellish time we had here.

hi just got back after spending a week here all though we had a great time a week was enough the bungalows location was great nice and quiet short taxi ride from the beach and town allthough we walked most of the time the bungalows are a bit small and could do with a lot of tlc they could do with a total makeover the sofas how any one slept on them
they need a reward bust springs ripped covers what they call pillows a bit of foam with a cover we had room 85 was a right by the pool which i must say is one of the best looking pool area i have seen the bar is ok food was ok the chips are what we would call fritters without the batter we did have ants but a call to a member of staff sorted it out but it did take 2 go's with the spray and we did have cockroaches but you can get them in the best of places as well but i suppose you get what you pay for if you want 5* go some where else if you want 2* stay here maspalalomas has a big beach and a lot of very fancy shops and plenty of great eating places we never had a bad meal the whole week down by the lighthouse is the best we did go into Playa d Ingils it is to me a bit on the ruff side did not like it one bit a lot of traffic and loud we now have been to all of the islands and to me this was the best will go back again when the euro in more in our favour and i would stay at EL Palmeral by that time they might have done some decorating
