“Perfect for a long weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

The pools are fabulous, surrounded by lush gardens, plenty of bars for drinks and snacks. Particularly liked the way the hotel is laid out and the position close to lovely sandy beaches, shops and restaurants. We'll definitely go again.

I simply don't understand why such a luxury hotel don't pay any attention to this tiny problem, the Internet. The impression was a bit smeared since the internet almost didn't work, despite it was paid with a relatively high daily price. I don't believe it is difficult to solve, but... Except this, the overall mark could be excellent.

An absolutely spectacular time had at Costa Meloneras Resort in Gran Canaria. We stayed from 27th December into the new year. The New Years Eve fireworks were some of the best I've ever seen!

Accomodation - Gleamingly clean every single time - whilst the rooms have clearly been there a while - they don't look shabby at all - mainly because they have been looked after so diligently.

The food - We were B&B - Breakfast was absolutely plentiful - Fresh fruit was perfectly ripe - Meats were awesome (Iberian Ham and Melon - take as much as you like!) - The only minor gripe was that as with all foreign hotels - the bacon was awful. How hard can it be to get PROPER danish or english bacon!!?! Omlettes, fresh fried eggs, beans, toast, pastries, cereals, and SO Much more - Outstanding!

Recommend Grill Faro - but wouldn't recommend eating in the precinct out the front of the hotel - awful! Also found Premier League football to be easy to come by in the Italian place, and there's some great shopping to be had in the precinct by the restaurants as well! The steak/grill Ala carte restaurant was excellent. The fish place (Osianis) was just about the worst meal of the holiday - bland fish, which took nearly 2 hours to arrive.

The pool - My word. WHAT a set of swimming pools. They're a touch cold out of the sun - but I've travelled all over the world, and these are some of the best swimming pools I've ever seen. Absolutely the highlight of this hotel, and worth the cost of the trip on their own in my mind.

Xmas touches - The Xmas tree at the end of the infinity pool was awesome! Entertainment was awful, but that's to be expected really - Perhaps a tip for the owners, would be to bring in a band who have some vocal and musical talent - rather than a keyboard player who uses electronic drum rhythms to back their songs. Also - the speakers on the roof? TURN THEM OFF!!! (or buy a proper LMS so you can delay the stage array!)

Overall - a FANTASTIC trip - possibly one of the best we've ever had. Thank you so much!

Spent just a week at the Costa Meloneras again.
As a repeater I like the location, the upscaled Hotel but it is not to stiff.
The many offers like a very big wellness area, the gym with a professional guidence and my favorite tennis with Tito.

Room Tip: Book a room overlooking the garden and the sea.

Stayed here for a week over Christmas period. A vast hotel. Could be difficult to find your way around at times. While the grounds were wonderful, as indeed was the decor in the main lobby. I thought the rooms were disappointing. The colour scheme was not really in keeping with such a hotel- bright green on the walls; not weary relaxing. The facilities in the room were also poor. There was no tea making facility, and no water provided. This is highly unusual in this standard hotel. I also thought it crazy that they charge 16 euro for a room safe for a week. The bathroom decor was nice though, with a wonderful shower, but could provide improved lighting. The hotel location is superb. Just 2 minutes and you're at the beach, ormoutside shops and restaurants. Evening entertainment I think was quite ok, although I only participated on two evenings. Overall, I found the staff to be pleasant. Be careful on checkin. ...... First room we got overlooked the black/Gary rooftop of their casino was w not a view to welcome while on holiday! Second room view was better though, overlooking the entrance and view of the mountains. It took the staff a long time to organise this change though, and not what you want after a long flight, when you are tired, and just want to settle down and get something to eat!
Overall a nice hotel in all, with a few quibbles that could easily be improved.

Room Tip: Check your room view! Choose carefully also as you could end up with a very long walk from the eleva...

This is a 4 star resort so you do not expect service and 5 star quality. However this hotel is worth 5 star.
Except for being so big. Dinner is done in two shifts, Waiting at the reception desk for checkin lasted an hour. The Spa is super but here also book in advance.
The overall service and quality is great.
Only minus are 1/ the fitness, you can choose a real old fashioned weight lifting gym for free or pay 7€/ day to use a decent fitness 2/ changing of the pool towels costs 1€/towel.
Overall very good price quality.

We decided to finish off some work on my husband's book while relaxing in Gran Canarian sunshine. The hotel was very helpful in printing off the proofs as they came in on my iPad. (Sending out the corrections on the internet was somewhat fraught due to sudden disconnections mid-stream, but the job was done in the end). Because the printing was so expensive, we were given a discount which was much appreciated.

The hotel is a lovely place for relaxation. I was a bit daunted on arrival by the decor in the grand reception hall. It is a copy of a cathedral and to my mind very sepulchral and gloomy with dark 'aged' paintwork. However the rooms are bright and beautiful, with excellent lighting for reading (not often found!) and we even had a dressing room en suite.

The breakfasts are superb with an enormous array of fruits, meats, cheese, breads, fish, plus cooked to order eggs, bacon waffles and pancakes etc. A large flask of excellent coffee is brought to the table immediately on arrival at your table, which is a real boon. And there is a fresh juice bar of many different fruits. For children (?!) there is a chocolate fountain with things to dip.

The restaurants are good but service can be a bit slow. Food again excellent. Most people however, are on the buffet dinner option and it gets very crowded. The food choice again is fantastic. Things don't seem to be laid out logically though, so there is a lot of converging traffic and risk of spills. The main trouble with the buffet system is that it is not a 5* experience. It is not restful or relaxing with all the serving staff rushing to whisk plates away like in an airport diner.

There are no high alternative quality restaurants in the vicinity but whether you turn left or right there are rows of open air places at which to dine (yet charging almost the same as the hotel).

The evening entertainment was of a surprisingly good standard and the 'Pavarotti' and ''Tenors' were very popular. The 'Lord of the Dance' troupe were proficient but I don't know if the non British audience quite understood it.

With these comments we highly commend this hotel resort.

Room Tip: It can be a long walk from block nearest the pools and the sea, to get to the main plaza where the m...
