This was our second visit. The hotel didn't let us down even if the weather did a little!! The food was very good with plenty of choice. The rooms are arranged around "squares" and so it feels smaller than it is. A visit to the spa is a MUST!

The impressive and fantastic Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort, Spa & Casino, is well situated in Maspalomas close to the lighthouse. A large selection of quality shops and restaurants are located in the immediate area, as is the local bus station (airport bus costs approximately 5 euros). This upmarket area is not to be confused with Playa des Ingles.

Check-in:
Efficient and polite.

Reception/Bar Area:
Impressive, large and spacious with plenty of seating. Free wi-fi is provided at Bar Central, whilst this gesture is very welcome, the wi-fi is rather problematic, often the service is painfully slow and in the evening everyone goes to there to use their devices, a connection can be quite difficult to obtain as it appears the system is unable to cope with so many guests (quicker if you go there off-peak).

Room:
The first room I was allocated was by the tennis courts and as other reviews mention, there are some trees that block out the light. It was not what I was looking for, so relocated to the 5th floor the flooring day. A much better outlook over the front of the hotel. The room was spacious, clean and pleasant with marble flooring.

I opted for a late-checkout priced at 40.00 euros. You need to check availability of this service the morning before you leave.

Chambermaid was helpful, polite and friendly.

However, one morning I was awoken by constant chatter, as cleaning staff were talking loudly across porticoes at each other. I could stand it no longer and went to breakfast, on the way a gentleman opened his door and asked them to be quite.

Paid wi-fi is available in the room at 1 euro an hour, I found it difficult to get a connection as the signal was too weak (Lopesan, this issue needs to be addressed). If you want to use the service, you need to visit reception to pay (this is the same at all Lopesan hotels). They should develop the system so that you can purchase access online and be able to charge this to your room, negating the need to go to reception.

Bathroom:
Spacious with separate bath and shower, again lots of use of marble. A pleasure to use though if I was been picky, I would say that a light was needed above the separate shower as this was a little dark, and given there was no screen to the shower in the bath, water splashed out on to the floor. Shower/shampoo gel is provided which was of good quality. I loved the wallpaper filled with shapes of lots of little objects, I was constantly finding something new!

Half-board:
Opted for the half-board option and found the food to be very good. Cava was available every morning with breakfast and smoked salmon on a Wednesday. The choice was vast, fresh and well presented. Fantastic selection of salads etc. which I personally preferred to the mains.
Staff were polite, friendly and helpful (they work hard for their money). Very little queuing to get in. I am sure that I left a little heavier than when I arrived!

Evening Entertainment:
On the whole quite good, though there was the occasional performance which perhaps was not at home at this hotel.

Pool Areas:
Stunning pools (the infinite pool is huge and features a beach area) and attractive laid-out gardens. Again, as other reviewers have mentioned (Lopesan pay attention!) the palm trees need to be brought under control, they have grown considerably and need to be heavily pruned as they block out too much sun. Of course there needs to be shaded areas, but there is too much shade.

Be warned, whilst not allowed, people will insist on reserving sunbeds and if you want to get a good spot, you need to be up early. This is not just a problem at this hotel, but an international one. Having said that, the outdoor areas are huge, and you should always be able to find a place with a little walking around. There is a crazy golf area, which appears to be under-used; perhaps this could be converted to provide an additional sun-bathing area?

Two pool towels are provided in your room, and if you need to change a towel, it costs 1 euro.

Shops:
There are shops located within the hotel as well as a supermarket on the first floor.

Spa:
There looks to be a fantastic spa (additional cost) though as the weather was mainly good, I did not get a chance to use it.

Overall:
First class - highly recommended; quality hotel that in the main pays attention to detail.

Now when can I go back!

This hotel is beautiful, with fantastic staff, who were helpful but unobstusive. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a junior suite with sea views, and really enjoyed having a quiet room, which was away from the lifts. The setting is fabulous with beautiful grounds and a choice of pools. We particulary enjoyed the view of the lighthouse. The food is excellent with great variety at mealtimes and there is good entertainment in the evenings. We spent a wonderful week here recently and would thoroughly recommend it.

We have been coming to this hotel for the past 10 years and have found it to be more than suitable for our needs as my husband is in a wheelchair and so to find a hotel that has two pool hoists and ramps to accommodate wheelchairs has been a wonderful find for us.

It is a very large hotel but at no time have we found overwhelmed by the number of people who come here. There are two buffet restaraunts serving the most wonderful food and last year we paid extra and eat in their waiter served restaraunt and the food was out of this world.

The gardens are spacious and well kept and there is always somewhere to find some shade. We will continue to come to this hotel as long as we are able because we find it a very relaxing experience.
