We have just returned, WOW what a hotel everything about this hotel was fantastic, the staff were great and the hotel was so clean the grounds very well kept and beautiful. This was the first time I have booked my own package and was a bit worried that I had chosen the right hotel and area as we had our two adult daughters with us. Everything was perfect the position of the hotel, the Spa was wonderful and very reasonably priced, and the designer shops close by kept the girls happy. Even though this hotel is big we could always find a quiet corner and even had the pools to ourselves at times.
We were on bed and breakfast basis and the choice was fantastic even smoked salmon and Champaign on offer twice in the week. We were going to eat in the hotel one night but ran out of time, as there was so many restaurants around to choose from. I would certainly recommend this hotel and we will be going back.
The one thing I would do next time is pre book any excursions as those you can book through the hotel are geared up to the German market. We did find it just as easy and cheaper to hop into a taxi, which were always waiting just outside.
The entertainment at night was good but if you wanted to see you needed to get there early. I think they need to review the stage area as it faced the hotel and limited peoples view it could have been set out better allowing more people to see from the front rather than a back and restricted view.

The Hotel is fantastic to look at and the staff are just OK but don't
particularly go out of their way for you (Daniel the evening porter however was a star). The main problem was the other guests, We were in a party of four aged from 30 to 36 the average age of the other guests appeared to be somewhat higher. People starred at us constantly and looked down there noses at us and were generally very rude especially at the very ordinary Evening and Breakfast buffets. Obviously these people thought they were somewhere special as the hotel appears to be generally very expensive, how disappointed would they be if they found out we only paid £450per person half board for suites and to be honest if you get quoted more you are better off looking elsewhere as the experience does not live up to the image of the hotel. The pools are fantastic, although the large one is in need
of repair, watch where you walk as the missing tiles can cut your feet. We would recommend the casino show, this was the highlight of the holiday the meal was fantastic and the entertainment was too. If like us you get a late flight home be prepared to be treated like a second class citizen from the moment you check out. the smelly shower
room in the cellar at the back is a treat to remember your holiday by. All in All we would not visit this hotel again as we would not pay their prices the overall experience really isn't worth it.

We love this hotel and will definitely be coming back.If you want a room with a better view, you have to ask for it.Our room was clean and tidy and the sheeets were changed regular. The food was good,I agree it was sometimes abit samey. The pools were brilliant.I do get fed up though with the towel culture of saving a sunbed some country seem to have. The staff were excellent especially at reception. How many languages must they speak.
All in all I couldn't fault it apart from the Menu which needs more variety for the Main Meal. The Spa was good value too.

We didn't have the best of starts with this hotel. We arrived at 4:30am, and as we had got a really good deal through the internet, was allocated one of the rooms at the back on the third floor. Not entirely unexpected, but we like to spend time relaxing on the balcony of an evening, and couldn't do this with the view and noise of a building site. However, we were not disturbed by the noise at all with the doors closed.

Then we had a fiasco with the room safe. We made four trips down to reception to sort this out as our card, which was supposedly registered, wasn't working. In the end, we were told that they'd send up an engineer, and to go back up to our room to wait. Well, we waited, and we waited. In the end I phoned back down to reception, and they told me that the engineer was on call out from Playa del Ingles, and as it was Sunday it could be a long wait. Nice!!! We gave up in the end and carried our valuables around with us all day on day one. That night, surprise surprise, the safe still wasn't working, and when we checked with reception again, our room card hadn't even been registered. Unbelievable!!!!

The only other gripe that I've got about this hotel is that the service in the restaurants isn't that great. And what happened to "service with a smile"? I certainly don't think that the service in general in this hotel is of 4 star standard - it's not what we've come to expect from similar hotels in this area on previous visits. We did find the staff in Alameda to be much friendlier and efficient than Atlantico of an evening though for the buffet.

That's where the gripes end and the good stuff starts, hence my four star review. The hotel and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The pools are fantastic, and even though this hotel is huge, I didn't feel as though it was too overrun during the day. We were naughty and reserved the sunbeds to get the best spot - but hey - everybody else is doing it. A lot of the sunbeds are within the gardens, i.e. in the shade for much of the day, so the beds in the sun tend to get reserved (be up and 8:30 to get the pick of them). I'm personally embarrassed to do this, but come 10am after breakfast, there's towels down on all of the best beds (we witnessed some beds in front of us reserved from first thing, the occupants didn't turn up until 3:30, then left after half an hour - it makes me so cross!!).

The rooms are nice and spacious, but again perhaps a little basic for 4 stars. A lot of people have mentioned about the beds. They were very comfortable, but were on wheels and we falling to bits on the corners. The bathroom was great though, and lots of wardrobe space for all of your clothes.

The food was also of a very good quality. It does get a little repetitive, but there is a good handful of restaurants down the road if you fancy a change of scenery. We ate at Restaurant Faro on our last night, and the food here was excellent. The surrounding area outside of the hotel is very nice - upmarket - with a good amount of shops, restaurants and bars, but is very classy with no leary drunks in sight. All of the hotels in this area are +4 star, and that's one of the major factors which attracted us to this resort in the first place. It's quite a pricey area, but you get what you pay for in my opinion, and you don't go on holiday to scrimp (if you want a cheap holiday, don't come here).

I would return to this hotel in the future as it was one of the most restful holidays that we have ever had. I agree with some of the points made in the recent negative reviews, but overall our experience was very good.

  • Liked — The fantastic grounds, and the great, upmarket location
  • Disliked — The lack of quality customer service which you'd expect from a 4* hotel

My husband and i visited this hotel in August 07. we paid 2100 to travel with Sunway travel Dublin. it was so disappoiting that we were counting the days to come home. We were on the second floor overlooking a carpark which was noisy and at times unhealthy. The room was basic not 4 star standard, the beds were a joke kept moving and the mats at the side were slipping always. The bathroom door never closed. No sun shone into our room any day.Not 2 star rating not to mind 4 star. Staff were most unhelpful I asked at reception fro a plaster as I cut my leg receptionist informed me that theIR was no first aid in the hotel to go to the doctor and pay 70 euros. I was really scared to hear this as there were so many people in this hotel if there was an accident. I do think its illegal not to first aid in a hotel this size. We were half board and I do not recommend it in this hotel as the food was only ok. As a diabetic I was not catered for no options I was even offered coco pops for breakfast which I took as an insult. One day by the pool I witnessed an Irish couple been told to leave by very irate staff who were so rude to them. if you are Irish dont waste your money or your time going to this hotel as you will be stared at, insulted and actually ignored.
