We were on a shopping trip to Gran Canaria from Lanzarote for a few days and found Samsara on Tripadvisor. In all of the years that I have been visiting Maspalomas I was surprised that I had not found Samsara before, but it was definitely worth the wait!
The surroundings could not be further from the norm, a warm welcome to a tranquil oasis set upstairs surrounded by palm trees and superb décor. As it was our first time at the restaurant, the waiter explained the menu taking care to point out that the portions were "grandes" and were more suitable for sharing.
We had the tuna carpaccio with wasabi, ginger and soy - delicious and beautifully presented - but knowing that we'd need to save room for the main course of vegetable curry Matsuman we didn't finish it. The main course was delicious too, with subtle flavours and served with both cous-cous and basmati rice.
I was delighted to be offered a Lanzarote wine (a little taste of home) showing that the restaurant uses local Canarian produce.
After dinner, we took our coffee in the Zen lounge but didn't have room for dessert! Overall, a delightful experience - thanks to the team at Samsara Maspalomas.
Tip: To avoid disappointment, it is a good idea to book in advance.
