“Grand hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

Just back from 6 nights in Hotel Windsor. Took the advice of other travellers and got Superior room. Room was nice. Cleaned everyday etc. It is very centrally located and the staff are very helpful. The front desk were always on hand 24 hrs a day to dish out keys and beer!
Breakfast was a massive let down. Machine for coffee which there was a queue for every morning. No hot food. Pastries a plenty. Grand if you like cheap cuts of pre pack ham and salami, cheese for breakfast.

Room Tip: Superior room

Visited Tossa De Mar for 4 night in September.
Me and a friend wanted a short break that was a short flight, quiet and well priced. We were not disappointed with this trip.
We flew to Girona (Flights to Barcelona were more expensive). 2 hours from Doncaster - perfect.
We paid for a transfer to Tossa - wish we hadn't. The airport is next to the bus station and we could have got a bus. The transfer was via Loret etc and so it did seem to take an age! The drop you off at the bus stop in Tossa (coach can't go down the small roads) but this was not a problem as it was only 5/10 mins away.
The hotel is small (which I prefer). On arrival we were pleased with what we saw, clean and tidy. The entrance could do with updating, but we only thought of this after we saw our room! It was small (but perfect - no complaints on the size). It felt like a little boutique room. Chocolate walls, minimal and modern furniture and the bathroom tiles / sink were modern. No power shower but it was nice and hot. We upgraded to ensure we had a balcony and air-con and we are glad we did (the price was not an issue at all).
Breakfast was great. Continental. Meats, cheese, fruit, bread, pastries, cereal, yoghurt, juices, coffee machine. Just what we wanted to start the day with. If I have to find a fault (and I am really picking here!) the coffee machine's water does not get hot enough for a cup of tea!!
There is Wi-Fi in the entrance area.
Pool is small - but lots of sun loungers. It was nice and quiet between 16:00 - 18:00 when it felt like a sun trap!
Cleaner came every day and did an amazing job.
There is a fridge - and they top it up with complimentary cans of pop and bottles of water - a lovel treat.
The location from the main town / beach was great. 5/10 mins away.
We loved the hotel for all the right reasons and we are considering going again for a girls holiday. Cheap but very cheerful.

We were a bit dubious about this hotel due to the 1 star rating, but we paid so little we thought it was worth the risk -
The rooms only for sleeping right?

We got there early so our room wasnt ready, but our luggage was locked ina room and we went to explore Tossa. It is a beautiful, charming place with some fantastic restaurants.
The room was lovely, well furnished with a brand new flat screen Tv, nor that it git used! Recommend paying extra for the superior roomsto get the air con and the balcony. Balcony was well sized with a table and chairs overlooking the pool. The bathroom was small but perfectlyformed with fresh towels daily and free toiletries. You get 4 drinks free in the fridge every day which was a nice surprise!
The maid are great, come in every day and the room was spotless.
Breakfast was perfectly adequate, continental with a hot drinks machine. Would probably have liked a bigger selection of juice and some non sweetened pastries- even the croissants had been drizzled in honey.
Bar was very reasonably priced with a good selection, and a vending machine in reception. The pool area is lovely, clean with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. It would be better if the sunbeds let you sit upbut you can't win them all! The pool is a great size and cleaned daily.
There's two shops near the hotel, one left, one right. Loafds of restaurants, some as little as 20 steps away. The beach/old town is minutes away. Fab location and a lovely hotel. For the price, couldn't fault it. Would go back to this town ad we had a fantastic holiday and would go back here again as it was as good if not better than some 3/4 stars I've been to. Recommend.

A great hotel in an excellent location; we had a fabulous 7 nights stay in a superior room - spacious, with clean, very modern bathroom, air con, nice cold drinks in the fridge supplied daily, TV, spacious breakfast room with good food variety...couldn't have asked for more from a hotel classed with one star only. I would highly recommend it and if we go to Tossa again, we'll definitely choose to stay there again. Well done to it's personnel, they are doing a great job, thanks for making our stay so pleasant!

I concur with just about everything that has been said about this hotel - it was clean, comfortable, room quite spacious, decent breakfast, lovely pool and superb service.
I doesn't have some of the extras that you might get at a 4 star hotel (gym, conference room, etc), but in every other way it is as good as any 4 star hotel I've stayed in.
Recommended!

Room Tip: Balcony room overlooking pool was very good.

We stayed for 5 nights in a standard room. The room was a good size with snug but functional bathroom. Room was really clean, and recleaned every day, beds made daily and plenty of free toiletries. Two beds in room set out as a twin despite ordering a double. Reception said they didn't have doubles - pushed beds together but not ideal. Room was hot and very noisy at night but earplugs solved that mostly. Pool great, daily clean and chemical check. Not enough umbrellas though and rarely anyone serving at pool bar. Breakfast was reasonable - plenty of choice but not the greatest quality. Fresh fruit was good though. Would return but go for a superior and ask for a balcony.

We were very impressed with this hotel! The staff are helpful and efficient. You can store your bags in a secure, locked room after you have checked out, which is handy.

The superior room was better than we could have imagined. It was modern, quite spacious, with a lovely bathroom and a huge balcony with a view of the pool. We loved the free drinks in the mini bar and the little toiletries. This hotel is a 1 star and you get 4 free drinks in the mini bar every day?! The only minor niggle would be there is no soundproofing, but luckily we had quiet neighbours!

The location is great. There are lots of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants just round the corner and it's a short walk to the beach. The pool area is lovely and clean has a well stocked bar.

The cleaners did a good job and replaced the towels each day. The best bit was breakfast. We could not believe just how good it was! The pastries were absolutely delicious, as was the fruit and cold cheese and ham selection. At weekend there was even champagne!

Room Tip: We requested a room with a balcony, facing the pool. The superior rooms have air con, so pick one of...
