“Great family hotel ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

First day, I was a bit worried as it was packed but throughout the holiday it was managed well except at breakfast.
Highlights. Great kids club. My 6 year old loved the activities and the girls that run it are fun and kind. The teenage club looked good as well.
The food is of a good quality considering the number of guests. Something for everyone and mainly fresh. The inside feels like a canteen so always ask to sit outside. We went full board although all Inc was offered. AL did look good with quality drinks, ice creams etc but wouldn't have been worth it for us.

Rooms are not the prettiest but comfy and great size bathroom. You get an empty fridge so you can stock up on bits and drinks for the children.

You can order a picnic for the next day if you want a beach day which was basic but fresh and handy.

The pool is full of kids having fun and very clean. The no towels on beds to reserve them is strictly enforced and there always beds available.

Negative points.
The reception staff are rude which is a shame given the rest of the staff are so lovely.

Hotel parking is a ripoff. We wanted to book for 3 days but were told we had to pay for the whole stay or nothing. We were told by a silly aggressive manager that we could have 3 days at the end but not at the beginning which was as useful as his attitude. It was mainly empty so clearly not a space issue.

The beach is 10 mins walk but is shingle and steep with quite strong currents. Fine with teenagers but for young children it was hard work. If you have a car go up to sant pol for the day which has amazing beaches and restaurants.

The entertainment is 'interesting' our 6 year old thought it was great. Alcohol helps.

You would have to be insane to go here in the summer without children. It is 100% meant for families. We saw quite a few couples looking like they were in shock.

1 week was enough for us but it was relaxing and great fun.

Stayed here in early May and we're lucky enough to have nice weather. We had a lovely room on the fourth floor over looking the pool area. It is well worth sending an email asking for a poolside room. They don't promise you anything but the two times we have stay here,we were given what we have asked for.The room was kept very clean and it's nice to have a small fridge and kettle in your room, little extra's that you often do not find in Spanish hotels.Food is plentiful, especially if you like fish.Entertainment a bit hit and miss but it was early season. It would be nice to have more English channels on the TV as the only English one is BBC world news! All in all a good quality hotel w hick we will visit again.

Room Tip: Rooms over looking the pool are sunnier.

First stayed here 2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it then. Have now come again and still can't fault this hotel. We requested a high room overlooking the pool area and that's exactly what we got. The rooms are spacious and air conditioned, the maid service is seven days a week.
The restaurant runs a buffet service with plenty of food to go round. It's also better than some restaurants that you would pay for.
The town itself is within an easy 10/15 mins stroll. It's lost none of its original charm with the buildings well maintained and the streets spotlessly clean. A walk around the old castle is well recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms on the pool side upper floors, have best view as the other side of the corridor overlooks the...

This is a large modern hotel that is extremely well run and manages to cater for a large number of guests in a friendly but efficient manner. The standard buffet restaurant was well set out to deal with number of guests, though did have a canteen type ambiance especially when it was very busy with weekend visitors. However the food was good and there was always a great selection of dishes to satisfy the most fussy of eaters, and which were constantly replenished even towards the end of the evening. We booked this early season great value package through Thompson's but essentially used the hotel as a base to explore the Costa Brava villages and bays to the north. We therefore did not take advantage of many of the hotels amenities throughout the day including the impressive pool area, though we did manage to get back and catch the last of the sun and relax in the roof top Jacuzzi which we had to our selves, on a couple of occasions. All in all a very good hotel for exploring the Costa Brava or just visiting the touristy, but surprisingly unspoilt and charming town of Tossa de Mar.

Room Tip: Pools overlooking the pool get the most sun.

I have visited this hotel four times and have never been disappointed. The place is spotless, the staff are wonderful and the food is very good.
It is difficult to understand why some reviewers are grumbling about the food. The choice is varied and excellent. The cooking style is befitting of the location of the hotel. Maybe some people are not happy unless they get fed the same as they do at home. I've got no idea why such people choose to travel. They are catered for, however, they just have a narrower choice.
The animation team are excellent and work so hard to ensure the guest have plenty to do from mid-morning until late.
Tossa de Mar is a fabulous location. A beautiful little town and full of history and great little bars and restaurants.
Hopefully it will not be long until my fifth visit to the Golden Bahia.

Stayed with my husband and 3 year old daughter on a half board basis fir 10 days. Can't fault the hotel at all. Great location only 10 minutes stroll to the centre. Lovely resort nice places to eat and drink lovely little streets for shopping and great views from the castle. In the hotel we were on the second floor balcony overlooked the road. Not the greatest of views but didn't ruin the holiday. Nice room very cleaned we had a double bed and single bed for our daughter not the biggest of rooms but was ok space wide plenty of storage space. Rooms cleaned every day so all good. Food in the restaurant we couldn't fault. Great great food different every night it was really nice, we were going to eat out a few times but decided not to due to the high quality of the food. Pools are great a no hogging the sun beds at 6am and not using them policy which is great. Staff can't fault a greet hotel with great service. Lots if returning guests which speaks volumes.

Couldn't fault the hotel. It is what it claims to be and is lovely. It prides itself I believe on being a great, 4 star, family hotel and that's what it is. We are a couple in our 30s and really enjoyed it. It wasn't school holidays so there were mainly young children in the hotel. If you want some peace and quiet though, there is a relaxing, adults only, roof terrace with lovely views and a plunge pool.

The food was great with an exceptional amount of choice at both breakfast and dinner. We were only half board as we like to explore the area and dine out for lunch but I thought the dinner was great, with different options each night and a lovely area with freshly cooked fish and meat to order.

The room was spacious and we had a pool view which was an added bonus. Our maid was fabulous and kept everything spic and span. I had a massage in the spa and that too was heavenly.

It is about a 10/15 minute into town which is a pleasant walk and one we did every night. I cant comment on the hotel's entertainment as we went out into town every night but it seemed like they always had something going on and they really made the effort.

It is very close to the bus station (about a 3/4 minute walk) which is handy if you want to go to Lloret or back to Barcelona/Girona.

There is a dog sanctuary for rescue animals that's about a 25 minute from the hotel. If you can spare the time, you can just turn up at the sanctuary (the hotel will give you directions) and you can take a homeless dog out for an hour for a walk in the woods. They are ever so grateful and whilst heartbreaking to have to hand them back, it is a rewarding thing to do. You don't have to book or fill in any forms, you just turn up. They are crying out for people to take the dogs out. If you want any further information, then please feel free to message me. Their website is http://www.selva.cat/caas/

I hope you all have a lovely holiday. You won't go far wrong with this lovely hotel :-)
